I have rated this 5 before and it still does not disappoint – small but balanced menu well prepared food, I did have a slight hiccup with my Crispy Calamari but not a train smash – class wine list and the best service going on...the ‘strip’ – pricey but still value for money – highly recommended for that special eventMore

I have always wanted to dine at this beautiful restaurant, on Tuesday 17th August I took my wife for dinner to The Chef's Table. We had an early booking for 17:00 as we intended to have full experience without any rush. Amani organised a beautiful...table with a full view of the open plan Kitchen, what a theatrical treat I should say. We had menus presented, but there was no need to read through the menu all thanks to our waitron Moses who is a walking menu himself. He explained almost everything on the menu without a blink, what a confident guy. My wife ordered the Duo of duck & of course went for my Karoo lamb. The Confit duck was perfectly done that it was just pulling off the bone easily, I tasted a bit of my wife's Duck and the smoked dates added excellent flavours to the duck breast. My lamb dish was one of its kind, the pulled shoulder part would just melt in my mouth and the lamb rack was done medium rare as recommended the Chef Mathews. Highlight for my dish was the sauce, the flavours of both our meals were just a bomb. My wife went for the carrot cake for dessert which I tasted as well and it was excellent too. The wine was even better, thanks to Amani. My wife was very impressed with the tea service with her dessert. Overall, we had an excellent experience and we will do it againMore

This was one of the first dinner reservations we made when we knew we were visiting Umhlanga, and the experience did not disappoint. The decor was lovely and intentional, and I appreciated all of the thought that must have gone into the design. The open...kitchen was fun to watch, and it was not too noisy in the restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious, and our duck and steak were cooked perfectly, We also enjoyed the cocktails and were pleased with the wine recommendations. If you enjoy good food, I would highly recommend eating at The Chef's Table.More

I always enjoy this restaurant which on Friday lunch time was reasonably busy – George and his staff make you feel welcome and are both pleasant and helpful when serving you – the meal as always was excellent – it was great to return here...after a 12 month ‘sabbatical’ – prices for meals and wine are on the high side but the quality experience is worth the cost - highly recommended.More

An amazing dining experience with my wife and two daughters. First time back to The Chefs Table after three years and everything absolutely on point! The service was outstanding from Andy, a friendly, engaging waiter who went out of his way and nothing was too...much trouble for him. Every course was superb, starting with the langoustines and oysters, right through to all of the mains. The Karoo Lamb was perfect, as were the Beef Fillet and Pork Belly, by which stage no one had room for dessert. It’s a pricy restaurant, but still good value for money given the excellent overall experience!More

Going out to a restaurant during these times is a risk, and it’s up to each restaurant to ensure the “comfort” and safety of their patrons. I will say that I did not feel comfortable tonight. We booked a table outside. We wore our masks...to our table and only took it off when eating. The food was just ok for the prices - taste wise. Presentation was very good. Our starters - the crispy squid, prawn and duck were good. I did not enjoy the main prawns - it’s a massive serving - but it was dry. The risotto was ok. We requested a garlic sauce to add to it. My husband did not enjoy his fish - he said that there wasn’t any taste. My children enjoyed the duck main. The problem for me was the masks that fell below the noses of waiters and waitresses who served us. There aren’t any sanitizers on the tables either. They only check your temperature and sanitize your hands as you enter. Every time the waiter came to talk to us - we looked uncomfortable- because we were. The rule is that the mask must be a correctly fitting mask over nose and mouth.More
