My go to spot for great food experience. The customer service is exceptional. I never leave Pietermaritzburg without visiting Coffeeberry.

What a lovely Ladies' Night at Coffeeberry Avenues in Hilton. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is welcoming and they have a great range of cocktails and wines.
Having been seated and menus slapped down we waited for over half an hour for our orders to be taken. French toast with a few thin slices of banana and a bit of caramel sauce topped with a tiny dollop of ice cream R85. Not...on... place has really deteriorated. Most disappointing.More
The slowest service in town - ever! The coffee was lukewarm. The so-called fish cakes were more like lukewarm potato cakes. The only thing colder was the apparent interest of the waitron who could not care less. No sign of any management. Never again !
I have had slow service at Coffeeberry before, but thought that, having nearly a full hour for my lunch, that I was safe. I milled about awkwardly at the entrance as usual - I don’t understand why it isn’t a higher priority to greet and...seat customers. I was shown to a table and given a menu. I knew what I wanted but the waiter left before I could order. Eleven minutes later I got up and left. No-one spoke to me, looked at me or cared what happened to me in that time or as I walked out.More
My family and I are Coffeeberry fans at other branches. We decided to try out the Hilton Avenues branch for the first time. It is a beautiful, aesthetically pleasing setup but the worst service I have experienced, we didn't even get to sample the food....We waited 5 minutes for a waiter to attend to us at the door. Waiters kept walking past us and ignored us. When one finally came over, she said there was no table available and we could wait at the outside seating area. We did so and then watched as 2 other families where seated and given menus while we waited outside. They were also helped instantly once they arrived at the door. The waiters stopped what they were doing and rushed over. Obviously we were not considered as important, reason uncertain. The only difference between us and the other families who were promptly assisted was the colour of my skin and I really do not believe that in this day and age that would be a factor. We asked to speak to the manager whose response was that she is usually stationed at the door to seat guests and had to attend to something at the back. Understandable, she can not be at the front the entire time. Does that explain why we were placed outside or why other families with the same number of patrons as us were seated first. We decided to leave. Very disappointing.More
Hi Tashnin, whilst this is very disappointing to read, what is even more concerning is the racist allegations towards Coffeeberry. We will not even entertain such shocking and uncalled for allegations. Should you be interested in a constructive conversation with regards to poor service (which...More
The view and the sitting arrangement was perfect The Cofee and the chocolate cake I had was great The food and salad my friend had was also fresh and amazing Overall the staff is friendly
Terrible service, staff had to be called to place an order for coffee, then the breakfast. Totally uninterested. This is the second time it has happened. Will not be going again.
Hi Mel, please may we ask that you send us your contact details on info@coffeeberry.co.za. Service like this is obviously unacceptable and we would like to get some more details. We are so sorry you had such a poor experience.
We visited the branch of Coffeeberry at The Avenues Shopping Centre in Hilton. Although the coffee is great the staff are really poor and not interested. Service is so slow. To make matters worse the selection of cakes etc was almost non-existent - at a...lunch time!! There were 2 scones, 2 croissants, and 2 chocolate croissants to choose from. Surely you can do better when the branch at Cascades normally has a good variety. The treatment from the surly waitress when paying the bill was disgusting and we will not be back. Blackwoods just got more customers!!More

Service is non-existent every time! Sat in the restaurant for 50 minutes and was completely ignored! Not the first time

Excellent food and outstanding service . Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Great atmosphere and vibe. Excellent food choices.
Before coming to Coffeeberry, my boyfriend and I had made plans to go to a Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, we got there and we weren't so happy with the place. Then we went to Coffeeberry, and let me tell you, I loved everything about it the...minute we set food there. The place is anestheticaly pleasing, the food is packed with flavor and the presentation of the food is appealing. I can't even remember the number of times I kept telling my boyfriend as to how much I love it there and that I'd definitely come back to eat there again. Any little chance I get will make my way there again. Absolutely LOVE it!More
Our expectations of a lovely Saturday lunch were dashed the minute we took the first bite. I ordered the hake which in past years at Cascades Coffeeberry had been the best fish in town.. Today the coating on the fish had already lifted away from...the fish halfway down. It was only just warm and seemed to be stuck together in the middle. - fries were a tasteless failure and as for the side salad of limp bruised pieces of lettuce, one tiny tomato , one piece of feta cheese, and a shred of onion, the three olives were the only joy. My husbands gourmet burger was the worst hamburger he had eaten in 20 years. Truly truly terrible . Dry as a bone although still raw in the centre. So sad to give this delightful venue a big thumbs down. Although staff member were right next to the entrance chatting, customers were having to open the door to leave. That's not right.More
