Unfortunately under new management so tiny portions, less than half of the previous owners for the same price. Favourite items no longer on the menu and all the little details missing. The lovely waitress was over extended, barely managing to cope. I would love to...come back but the changes make that highly unlikely. The setting is gorgeous, the gardens amazing so maybe for a coffee or tea.More

Set in a beautiful garden near the centre of PMB. A good place to chat and relax with friends. I like simple food but here they put items on the sandwiches etc that I don't even know what they are. The scones are lovely and...well presented. Surrounding the cafe are a number of little shops to browse in. The 2nd hand book shop is great and whether you are looking for a fairly recent release or old classic /treasure it is well worth a browse aroundMore

A strange, small haven within the tumult of city streets. Delightful menus, beautiful grounds, happy staff and a fun little shop to boot.

Indeed, always a pleasure. Step through the front door and you are in another world of trinkets and little old world charm to browse and/or buy. Going further through the building takes you to a quaint eating area overlooking a wonderful garden. This is an...experience you must not miss. The meals are delicious and very artfully presented. The staff are friendly and very helpful. A must go to place in a most unexpected position in Pietermaritzburg.More

Very picturesque house and gardens. Was like going for tea at my granny. Small but interesting menu. Food was fresh and well prepared. Service was friendly if slightly too relaxed. In this environment one would expect light classical or instrumental music playing softly in the...background, but I’m assuming the young waitrons were playing some kind of fusion hip hop jazz that would have suited a Miami night club- a pity, it spoilt an otherwise good experienceMore

A real gem in a most unexpected place. An oasis in the middle of the hussle and bussle of the CBD. Bedise the really good food the are so many wonderful items to look at in the shop and the book shop. The gardens are...beautiful and the sraff are really friendly. If you have never been here, make a plan and go tomorrow. You will be very happy you did. Love it.More

Rosehurst is an absolute gem, a unique shopping experience with a plethora of good quality antiques, hand-made and up-cycled gifts as well as belgian chocolates, books, bee products etc. My best is the Cafe, where I can treat myself to something utterly unique and delectable...off the custom menu and then relax in the tranquil garden.More

We were a party of five adults and three small children, most of us visitors from the UK. There was no table large enough to accommodate us, and nobody to assist in seating us. We settled at two adjacent tables, which we pushed together. A...waitress arrived at this point and said that we were not allowed to move tables, so we had to sit separated. It took ages to place a drinks order for one table, and the second table was ignored. After a lengthy wait some drinks arrived. We were only then asked if we wanted anything else, and we explained that we wanted lunch. There were two options for children, and we ordered dinosaur toasted sandwiches, which sounded quirky and fun. The food arrived after a very long wait, in several phases. Last to be served were the children, who were restless and starving by this time. The 'dinosaur' turned out to be a sad, soggy, tiny toasted cheese sandwich with some cucumber crescents and a few spikes of tomato. What child likes cucumber? These sandwiches were unappetising and overpriced at R56 each. The adults' food was all right, but the children had to be given pieces to stave off their hunger pangs while they waited. Having a drink and a meal took an hour and three quarters. I've been to Rosehurst many times in the past, but will not visit again.More
