The Sunday lunch was very nice. The starter was really good, but the apple pie was raw and tasteless, not in line with the rest of the meal. Being a sweet tooth, this was a let down. The waiter was friendly and efficient.

Had a very pleasant lunch at Friar Tuck restaurant. The menu is quite extensive and varied. We settled on the pizza which we shared.

We had a fabulous meal at Friars Tuck. Both the rib starter as well as the calamari starter were great. I had the fillet with asparagus and it was delicious. The trump with mustard was good as well. The highlight was their sago desert. Big...enough for 2 to share.More

Experienced some rainy weather and decided rather to go out for supper. Our regular spot was full, so we decided to see where else we could eat, ended up at Frair Tuck. Warm service and great steaks, other than not having much in a wine...selection we had a great time.More

This is our secret place. Personally I think this restaurant serves the best asparagus steak in the world. The food is great and they have a fully stocked bar that includes sundowner, wines, spirits, beers and cocktails. I am happy to suggest this restaurant to...anyone looking for a good dining experience.More

I send a lot of clients to this restaurant and every now and then go there myself to check. Not one person has ever come back disappointed. The service is good and the food is of highest standard. An excellent place to take important business...partners to.More

I am in Margate without my family and was looking for a place that offers a good meal at a good price and something not too formal. From the outside the property looks a little dim and can actually throw you off. By chance I...asked the car guard which of the 2 restaurants (there was another next to Friar) does he recommend and he told me that the Friar is always busy, so I went on his input and my gut. Upon entering the property the decor does seem like something out of a western cowboy movie but I will as acknowledged within 5 steps and directed to a seat. I asked my waiter for his recommendation and he recommended the oxtail, it so divine and falling off the bone... My two cents worth is never judge a place from the exterior not by negative reviews you read. I will definitely go back especially when I have my family with me. Thanks to the staff at Friar 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻More

Might hv been the best steakhouse in 2003 but i think that was were they got stuck in terms of decor, although they need a serious revamp - keeping the theme- the food was ok. Large portions and the veggie bake was good. Patties on...the burgers was real meat and sauces thick and creamy.More

While the decor is quaint all "Robin Hood'sy" we found the service to be slow and the food average. I ordered the outlaw chicken and I think judging by how long it took to arrive that the bounty is still out on him

Food is ok. Furniture and setting is quite rustic. They don't celebrate birthdays - not even a cupcake.

We decided to visit Friar Tuck based on the reports read. We were not dissapointed. Gilbert was our waiter and I must agree with the previous reviews mention that he is one of the best waiters I have ever been served by. Unassuming, discrete and...nothing we asked for could not be accommodated. The decor is old, but it adds to the charm of this establishment. “Ye Olde Tavern”. And the interesting items on the wall make for great discussions with a family. The tree attracted it’s expected attention and was photograped again! 3 adults chose steak options. Comments ranged from “the best steak I have ever eaten” to “Very tender and delicious”. The one fillet was over done on the edges, based off a medium rare order, but my wife refused to send it back as it remained tender and juicy. I opted for the 400gm Rump. Excellent option and expertly prepared. Very tasty. Desserts where also good. Unfortunately we found a hair in the Malva (it was delicious up until then but I could not continue or re-order the same bake). Gilbert was mortified, and the desert quickly exchanged with no quibbles. Creme Brule is very good. My youngest son had a kids burger and milo milkshake. Both where very good! Our evening was very pleasant and relaxing. We enjoyed it immensely. Reasonably priced at approximately R250 per head with Mains, Dessert and drinks.More
