Had lunch here and waited almost 40 minutes to get the starters. It arrives and was the incorrect starter, not what we ordered as per the menu. No apology. My partner ordered and the waiter didnt bother to write it down and once again brings...the wrong order. So we wait again and the coconut risotto ordered comes incomplete not garnished as per menu. Then the female manager or person in charges yells at the waiter about his work ethic. That should be done privately. Customer service was poor as was the atmosphere. Totally disappointed.More

Not a face mask in site. Burger and chips average. Smell of old oil strong. When I asked the gent serving us why no one was wearing masks. He replied, we dispensed with them a long time ago. It was our 3rd restaurant visit in...a week and the other 2 all adhered to Covid protocols.More

Unity bar and Cafe 1999 are now combined, the menu is like a greatest hits, and the standard of food going out is rather fabulous. My mussels in a tomato and bacon broth, littered with crispy bacon, were impeccably cooked, perfectly seasoned and took me...to a very happy place. My husband was also satisfied with his chicken bunny, very tasty and generous portion. The salt and pepper squid starter is always a winner, I don't think anyone in Durban cooks calamari better, and my deep-fried, ricotta-stuffed olives were just as good as I remembered from Unity days. ( I know some committed vegans who break the rules just for this dish) . They have a good selection of beer on tap, the place is always vibey and we will be back! If it were not for covid rules, I'd have firmly embraced the chef who cooked my mussels just so!More

As you know 1999 and Unity now operate from the same premises. I miss 1999 and had to have something that reminded me of this great restaurant and they did not disappoint. One of the specials was Saldanha Bay mussels steamed and served with a...Napolitano tomato sauce with bacon. Absolutely fantastic, will be back soon for more. Like I said, you must order them, but make sure there is still some for me. It’s the weekend so make sure you get a table.More

Unity offers a fun and lively atmosphere with friendly staff and a great food selection on the menu. They often have weekly specials, and serve a variety of local craft beer and some great wines to suit every taste. The foods are prepared fresh and...is quite flavourful. The burgers go well with the beers. Unity is a popular weekend hang-out spot, so best to reserve a table in advance.More

This burger is so good I had to check with our waitress that they hadn’t made a mistake and served me meat! It had the taste and texture of meat that I’ve never had before. Totally worth the price!

We had the pleasure of been invited to Unity on Friday evening around 7: pm , as we used to frequent this restaurant in the past .. We were greeted by a staff member at the door and shown to our table . We were...offered a drink order and chose to place our food order at the same time .The four of us orders steaks from Rare to medium done . Food arrived - rare was overcooked , medium was done " well done " . Management was no were to be seen. We sent out food back and waiting a long time for the replacement . ...had to look for a staff member to take down another drink order . Overall food and service needs urgent attention.More

Unity has become one of our favourite restaurants, its location is perfect for us. The menu is exciting and food always excellent. The specials on the chalkboard include some delicious options. Added bonus is reasonable corkage at R30 per bottle so we often take our...own wine. The staff are attentive and service prompt. It can become noisy when there is rugby on and tables with large groups of people. . Definitely worth a visit though.More

One of my favourite restaurants in Durban, South Africa. Unity's atmosphere is welcoming and easy-going while still being able to maintain a hip and retro theme. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious and often make a great pairing with the Craft Beer...selection. They also have daily food specials.More

Vibey pub atmosphere, good service , a great tailor made selection of alcoholic beverages, and very well prepared food that will beat some of the more established restaurants hands down. Tacos and calamari starter were tasty. Good chicken burger for the missus and a sirloin...prepared medium to rare just as I wanted. Could do better with the french fries though that were fried in oil that definitely needed to be freshened up. Ultimately not a bad experience altogether. I will definitely return.More
