Some friends recommended this place for prawns. There was a big table and venue was very noisy. We had to chase the waiter to order, to get more wine… And food was very disappointing.

I went to supper with my husband on thursday,23/03/23 and we were very disgusted and diappointed with the restuarant and the service we received. The waitress was drunk and she was rude, will not go back. The Resturant was not busy and i was told to...make a reservation when i called and that was not even done. Thank YouMore

We were returning to Julio's after an absence of months, if not years, and had a memorablel meal of prawns. We ordered "Peri-Peri Prawns for 2" and "Prawns with Garlic and Lemon butter for 2." Soft, warm, Portuguese rolls, savory rice and chips mopped up...the divine juices. I can't wait to go back.More

A local treasure! The setting is not all that fancy but the food is delicious and very reasonable. We always get their prawns for two and it’s wonderful. Their chicken is also out of this world. Staff are lovely too.

Excellent prawns - peri peri or garlic butter. Hot crispy Portuguese rolls, spicy rice and scrumptious potato chips. Caters for vegetarians meals as well. Delicious veg platter with grilled Aubergine, jalapeño poppers and crispy mushrooms with garlic sauce. Good service and relaxed environment. Unforgettable Portuguese...prawns and value for money. Must try if you are in Durban.More

A last minute decision to eat supper out on a Saturday evening. We chose to try this restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and seated despite us not having a reservation. Drinks order and food quickly taken and delivered. Food is delicious , I had the...prawn and calamari combo with chips ( home style), plump prawns and the peri peri had just the right amount of heat. This is not a fine dining restaurant and don't expect attentive waiting. The best thing is the food and the bill.More

Julio's Glenwood, not the others, remains one of my best Portuguese restaurants in KZN. Sunday lunch gone past certainly did not disappoint. Good priced white wines with delicious Peri-Peri chicken and prawns, lovely chilli sauce to add and fresh rolls with butter... Very hard to...get it wrong!More

Eventually visited here one Saturday night following recommendations from others about experiencing a superb unpretentious meal. That should have been the first warning. Sat on the veranda/patio facing the street. Second mistake as management turn a blind eye to smoking in this area and the...table opposite occupied by scruffs chain smoked throughout the evening. On taking it up with the waitron, she said that due to the rain - there was a short downpour not more than 3 minutes - they allowed diners to smoke in the area! And it got worse. Service was slow. Had to ask for the menus, for the drinks order to be taken as well as the food order. The much vaunted Eisbein was overcooked and the portion of the signature Sauerkraut was very small. This place gives unpretentious a bad name. Just plain tacky!More

Have reviewed this place a few times and what started off as a strong recommendation to visit has quickly deteriorated into a 1 star rating. Visited with family recently and ordered prawns and some other items, however, the prawns was absolutely some of worst I...have tasted. It tasted like it was cooked in a hurry and with sunflower oil - the prawns were oily and pretty much tasteless. Besides that, the cigarette smoke polluted the entire non-smoking section for most of the night. I hate to give this place a bad review, since their staff are genuinely good people, but to pay a lot for absolute poor quality food is probably the final straw for me. Really thought I would give them another chance, but this time was probably my last. Such a tragedy a good restaurant has gone down.More
