About
Come celebrate the beauty of the Indian Ocean and dine in a casual atmosphere, enjoying the South African cuisine, overlooking the spectacular ocean. Special times of the year are June & July to experience the “Greatest Shoal on Earth”. Come see the shoals of sardines as they get attacked from the air by the birds and in the water by the game fish, dolphins & sharks ... it is an amazing spectacle! If you don’t get to see the sardines you will probably see our Hump backed whales from June to November, doing spectacular breaches out at sea or giving birth to their baby calves at the end of October and in November. Then just about all year round see our dolphins surfing the waves right in front of the restaurant. The sea view alone is worth a trip but then you have the added attraction of the African Peninsula Cuisine to satisfy your taste buds!

This is my second time coming to sit and work at African Peninsula Restaurant. Not only did they give me a spot with a beautiful view while I work, the internet is good and made it possible for me to finish up my work undisturbed. I am a lacto-vegetarian and no egg free breakfast option, so they made sure the egg was replaced with avo and veg sausage without any issues. Prince, my waiter on both occasions, is very friendly and helpful. Also, thanks to Tannin at reception.

After seeing some good reviews of this place, I decided to check it out myself. When we got there, we were blown away by the gorgeous views of the beach below. It really is in a prime location, but the restaurant did not at all live up to our expectations. Service was initially on point, and our orders were taken and food delivered to us timeously. Thereafter, however, we were not once approached to ask if we needed anything or if the meal was satisfactory. At the time it was not busy, there were only 2 tables occupied. The food itself was average to mediocre. The oxtail was made in a sweet and spicy sauce, and was gritty and chewy. The accompanying Mediterranean veg and spinach were very nice, but given in tiny portions. For R150, this dish was hardly worth the price. The grilled chicken salad was not great either. The chicken strips were tough, chewy and overcooked. The view may be beautiful, but not worth the kind of food or service we received.

The stay must be fabulous at African Peninsula if you pay +- R 1200 per person per night but the restaurant is not worth the visit. Their service is extremely slow, they didn't have any fresh fruit for a smoothie, didn't have coffee beans for a mocachino. We waited more than an hour for two simple, stupid omelettes. The menu should come with a warning: caution you might get up and leave before you received any food. Will not recommend to anyone

Smallest portion of Calamari main meal I've ever seen or eaten for the price. The main meal was a starter size meal.

Very disappointed with service for our Xmas lunch. Food was average for what we paid. We were under the impression that it was a buffet but we're were watched when we dished up. We left hungry as we had to share our experience with another party. Flies all over the place... Service horrible for what we paid

My daughter had come off a night shift at the Labour Ward on New Years night and wanted a place to relax and unwind, so we chose this restaurant on the Bluff. The views were outstanding, fabulous, beyond words and relax she did. The food was not great, not even average and vastly disappointing. The oxtail at R150 was so tough that it was a struggle to cut it through with a knife. My chicken salad came with dry chewy pieces of chicken, all beautifully presented, as with the oxtail, but not great in taste. There were no table napkins on our table, no serviettes even and after delivering our food, the waitron disappeared, never to ask if we needed anything or were ok. Totally indifferent service. Such a pity. If this restaurant had food to match its views, it will become a regular Bluff icon. We shall not be going back to have lunch or supper, maybe tea and cake which im sure even they cannot get wrong! And that too, will be a visit to enjoy the views!

The restaurant itself sits right on the edge of the beach and you have a fantastic view from there. Too bad that the restaurant looks tired and in need of a revamp. The food itself is at most average - and I am being generous. In the right hands, this place can be something special.

The view was beautiful on all levels, and I would stay here in a heart beat, incredible sea views, service was too slow for lunch, deep fried halloumi was too oily and unpleasant in relation to taste. Accept my guests seafood platters looked amazing and they thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the function foods looked incredible. A lot of effort went into the function as I can imagine a lot needs to be done, but I would suggest hiring more staff if there is a coping issue.. as lunch almost turned into dinner!

We had our wedding there on the 18 of June 2016 and we had a buffet dinner and a week later i am still getting compliments . Cheryl and her team are amazing with all the hard work that went into making our special day even more special. Everything ran so smoothly. I will definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone. Certainly one of the best places on the Bluff to enjoy a relaxed breakfast on a raised terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean. You can spot the dolphins swimming by if you are lucky. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner served all week.

I enjoyed my dinner and breakfast here. The haloumi, advocado salad was very tasty. The apple pie for pudding was average. The breakfast was good but I found the lighting where you help yourself rather dim. The sea views are spectacular and I will definitely be back. Remember your mosquito repellent. I was bitten on both occasions.

Wanted to go to different place for a change. Thought I should try it based on trip advisor feedback. Place lacks attention to detail. Basic big buffet breakfast with a good view but that is it. If you sleep over its ok but don't drive 20km for a breakfast and a cuppachino you will be disappointed.

Please accept our humble apologies for the disappointing Cappuccino you were served on Sunday! While there is no excuse for a bad coffee, it was most unfortunate timing that our existing coffee maker was in the process of being replaced with our new Jura coffee machine, installed on Monday, the very next day! We would love you to taste our new Bru coffee roasters 100% improved Cappuccinos from Nicaragua coffee beans, the next time you are in the area.! Please send an email for complimentary voucher.
