Experience a taste of Greek hospitality at Pappas. What was meant to be a quick bite turned into a leisurely lunch at Pappas On The Square. I didn't have much time for a sitdown meal but the grim prospect of eating a drive-thru burger in...my car was too much to bear. I like Pappas. The food is always fresh and flavourful- and I love their tapas-style selections that can be ordered according to appetite and mood. I also knew that I wanted a schwarma, so Pappas it was. I was distracted by the calamari starter so I decided to order that as a starter before having a yiro for lunch. I'm so glad that I did because the calamari stole the show: delicate calamari heads and tubes seared to achieve a perfect caramelized crust while still being tender. So generously flavoured with garlic and lemon that you're going to wish that you'd ordered a bigger portion. The yiro was also a hero with crispy shavings of beef on a bed of tzatziki wrapped up in a flatbread. It was generously packed with fillings and served with chips. It's messy and delicious so roll up your sleeves - or use cutlery if you must! What really impressed me the most were the complimentary tapas served before my meal- creamy taramasalata and an earthy hummus served with hot Greek flatbread. Restaurants are under so much strain during COVID- just like their customers, so anything complimentary is great added value. Especially when it tastes delicious. My meals were served in rapid succession without feeling rushed which made Pappas a perfect restaurant to grab a quick bite during my lunch break. #DineJoziStyle #DinePappasStyle #DineSandtonStyleMore

Food and service are phenomenal. Lamb Klefiko is next level. Cold draught beer and very good wine list. Vibe especially on Saturday is nice with belly dancers!

Food was good service not the best as we had a doddery old waiter. What spoilt the evening was the rip off price of a 750cl bottle sparkling water. Be warned the price is not on the menu so if you just ask for sparkling...water as we did they charge 55 rand - a rip off - also check the bill as they over charged for our pepper sauce the price of which was on the menu.More

Dinner on a Sunday evening. The covered deck was very noisy due to a (birthday?) party but that can happen anywhere. Food (preceded by free pita and dips) and service were very good, definitely recommendable on both counts. Kleftiko was outstanding. Not totally convinced by...the authenticity of some of the dishes, but that does not take anything away from the quality. At 9pm a belly dancer (is that really Greek?) appeared and a lot of plates were smashed: a fun few minutes' entertainment! Prices are probably about par for the location, although I'm not sure why they should charge 50% more than our 4* hotel nearby for a tap beer.More

This was our very first meal in South Africa and strolling down from our Sandton Hotel we were presented with an abundance of different eateries which had great appeal. However, Pappas and the splendid Greek menu with plenty of vegetarian options quickly became our preferred...choice for the evening - and what a gem this eatery is ! Firstly, as we entered we were most warmly greeted and taken to a nice table on the balcony area overlooking Nelson Mandela Square - superb. It quickly became apparent that many 'locals' were dining here too which is always a good sign. One table near to us had the largest plateful's of meat - I think it was a rack of something which they struggled to eat completely, defeated taking the remainder home for supper. My wife wasn't too hungry and ordered a light bite whilst I went for something more substantial. We ended up having a feast of a Greek veggie meal with the restaurant unexpectedly providing complimentary side dishes - we were well and truly full at the end of a seriously well presented array of food, tasting as if you were on a Greek island and with the best service we have received for some time - a memorable dining experience. What made the whole thing special however were the staff who were really helpful to us in making our menu choices, being attentive and approaching us with a genuine smile and desire to make our meal enjoyable from start to finish - they succeeded. What also surprised us was the value for money - the bill being much less than we would have expected to pay for the quantity and quality of the same food in the UK. Loved it. Efharistó polí!More

Tasty Greek fare in a pleasant atmosphere. Wait staff friendly and professional/experienced. Started with a mixed meze and others had lamb, I had fish and chips. Solid value for the money.

Good Day, Park in the Sandton City Mall or in Nelson Mandela Square and ask anyone where the Nelson Mandela Stature on the square is located. The restaurant is located up the stairs from the stature. Kind regards Rushni
