Turkish cuisine delight

Review of Istanbul Kebab in Melrose arch. Situated in Melrose arch busy street. Vibrant restaurant whilst you have a meal indoors or outdoors. Off street or undercover parking . Delicious and variety Turkish halaal meal options. Comfortable and spacious. Covid protocols in place. We were...served by our friendly waitress Flattor. We enjoyed a delicious Mix Pide, chicken Iskender with bread, beef Kofta Wrap with chips with a variety of salads and traditional Ayran but the Turkish tea which was not the same taste though as in Turkey. Very busy and bookings are highly recommended.More

Authentic Turkish Tea or 5 roses?

We visited the new branch in Melrose arch excited to remind ourselves how Turkish cuisine tasted. The food was excellent however the tea ruined our experience. I was so excited to have Turkish tea again after having it multiple times in Turkey. I was expecting...a sweet, fruity flavourful drink however the opposite was served. The tea tasted bitter and exactly like a 5 Roses tea bag! When I consulted the waitress she told us that this was not her first time hearing the same complaint. When I contacted the restaurant on IG I was told that they mix Turkish tea with 5 roses due to shortages in Turkish tea! I would have definitely appreciated being informed about this unauthentic “blend” before ordering and I definitely would not have ordered it. I am so disappointed! I thought we would be served authentic Turkish cuisine however this was not the case. If you want authentic Turkish tea then I do not recommend this restaurante.More

Good food

We had a wonderful family meal. Each chose a different platter and enjoyed their selection ... the lamb, the beef and chicken. There was even a selection for vegetarians. The hummus was the best in town. Servings are ever so generous. We each went home...with a doggy bag. Mmm. You will see us again, soon.More

Very disappointing

Ordered shawarmas online for delivery yesterday with chips. The food was completely tasteless, the chips were like rubber and the side salad or pickle was rotten. The worst food we've eaten in jhb. We threw it away. Very sad.

Very fresh Turkish and halal food

This is a halal restaurant with lots of fresh Turkish foods.You can find all kind of meat ,fish and traditional Turkish food.The service is quick and with reasonable prices.They offer free Turkish tea to all customers.

Great food at good value for money!

Great food at good value for money! The setting is basic (plastic chairs etc) but if you want great food at very reasonable prices, and free Turkish tea of coffee, this is the place to go.

Saturday Lunch

Had a mixed platter. The lamb chops were delicious. I always enjoy the turkish apple tea. There seemed to be a lot of flies, could be some of the patrons attracting them though. Our waiter lit a lamp and the flies went away. Service was...excellent as usual. Parking is free if you can find a spot, but the shopping centre across the road has plenty of safe parking.More

Excellent Lamb Kebab experience

Ordered Lamb Kebabs take-away without ever eating or going near the restaurant (on a work trip to Joburg & looking for tasty, not over-priced food). I was not disappointed. Food delivered was exactly as promised and more. I really enjoyed the meal and ordered the...same a day later, and was not disappointed again. The meal was fresh, tasty and well-priced. The salad was crunchy and did not disappoint even after being delivered. I imagine eating in must be a great experience. I recommend Istanbul Kebab wholeheartedly.More

Great value for your money. AUTHENTIC TURKISH FOOD for small prices. Service is fast and turkish coffee and tea is normally ON THE HOUSE
