Very good Rump cuts. Best restaurant meat in all of Pretoria. Tasty!! You wont need any sauces. Medium Rare order unfortunately was a bit overdone.
Side salad was a nice large portion, fresh and super tasty! I would definitely recommend to try the chimichurri sauce.

This is a truly wonderful steak restaurant in Pretoria. Brought here my brother who came to visit us from overseas. He left the restaurant very content admitting that it was a fabulous experience. As for me I would like to point out the following: good food presentation, huge selection of wine, anticipatory customer service, delicious food, nice interior and reasonable prices. I do recommend the restaurant!
P.S. You can take away a bottle of wine from the Western Cape winery shop which is a part of the restaurant.

Excellent Rump and Sirloin, beautifully prepared. lovely side dish of baked veggies.
I loved the leather seats, wooden tables, friendly staff and the good wine. A perfect valentine dinner.

We had problem booking as lines down. Due to booking problem they wanted to seat us further out if the restaurant.
Food was great. Portions are large!!!! So share.
Red wine was cold. I appreciate this is an African thing and is Europeans find this odd

I mean it is one of the best steaks I have ever had in my life. I had 350 g sirloin and my friend had 600 g. The meat was delicious and the mashed potatoes were super rich. Highly recommended. The drinking wine option is endless and we had Afrikaans. Amazing. Also finish the service with donkey sweet wine.

This is the best steak house in South Africa and probably the world. Had the rib eye on the bone with marrow mashed potatoes and droewors and biltong to start. Everything exceptional about this restaurant.

Ordered steaks which were overdone. Sent back. Bill charged sent back steak (rib eye) in stead of Sirloin steak R35 more on a bill of R1300! Unacceptable, in fact fraud!!

Great lamb chops served here, but choices are very limited. I really think if you want to excel, you'll have to move away from wooden boards to serve your food on and portions will have to increase in size. What I cannot understand is why you cannot cut your meat properly - these off-cuts are not regular butcher cuts and they also appear like that on the wooden plates. Not done well. You can do much better and present your food more professionally, especially in the venue that you are in.

Thank you for you time in responding to us. I am a little worried about the wooden board, we have not served on wooden boards for more that two years ago and do not even have wooden boards onsite. Lamb chops portions ate weighing in at 440G per serving to what we know its a big portion compare to the competition. Visited here with our daughter and her partner - the restaurant wasn't very busy but we had fantastic service, fabulous wines and steaks to die for. If you are ever in the area this is a must visit restaurant.

This restaurant presents as upmarket but:
1. There was no sparkling wine available (evidently sold out)
2. They don't do simple cocktails
3. We suspect that our fillet may have been a different cut of meat
4. The "roast vegetables" were not roasted - they tasted of boiled veg (suspect they were maybe blow-torched to brown some edges)
5. The creme brulee's top wasn't crisp (soggy), and the custard curdled
6. It was quite difficult to communicate with the waitron
I mentioned the creme brulee to the manager - he said that he had picked up the issue with it. We were still charged for it, even though we didn't finish the one dessert between us!
Good points:
The salad was delicious and unusual.
The atmosphere was lovely.
The meat was cooked perfectly.

The restaurant and decor is beautiful. Very upmarket feel and the service great. Wide wine collection, bu the meat was tasteless and a sauce did not cure the problem.

We were staying in Pretoria for three nights and were looking for some upscale dining and the place we were stay (coral tree inn) recommended Hinterland. We made a reservation and we’re set to go. First impressions were good with a friendly welcoming greeting like we were family. We were seated and the great service started. Our waiter knew the wines on offer and we picked out some great wines to pair with our meal. They have a stuffed onion ring appetizer which we never had seen before and sort of glad we didn’t as we would gain some unneeded pounds. My wife likes her steak well done, the waiter said no problem they may butterfly the steak in order to ensure it was properly done. The service was what you hope for in fine dining giving the red wine some air before pouring and keeping the white wine chilled. The meal was one of the best we had in South Africa in three weeks. It was so good in fact that we booked a second night there while we waited for our flight to Kruger. We would certainly go here again.

I always wondered why Hinterland at Mall of Afica closed and now I know why. The presentation is bad, really bad. I'll will not present the food this way to my In-laws. (Whom I love 🤣) It was tasty but there is where it ends. Nothing will make me come back.
