Bad service, no visible management, poor quality food and dirty toilets. Clearly owner has abdicated!

We visited the restaurant today with friends from Germany. We love the ambience, the beautiful gardens, the wording on the menu. Everything is amazing, except the service which is really not good. We have reported this several times already but to no avail. If this...continue we will not support the restaurant anymore. Why not address the problem for once and for all. We would like to support you, make it possible for us to continue our support. Our visitors from Germany always come to SA for Christmas and want to visit Afroboer. Make it possible!More

Dear Ngoni You just warmed my heart - thank you so kindly for recognizing us and sending positive comments and vibes our way Too often we hear only the not so good, the bad and the ugly only - and we feel like fallen stars...More
Generally loved the ambience of the place however I noticed that we had to wait over an hour for a standard breakfast order. Secondly, please wipe down tables before next guests arrive, our table was dirty and I saw that they aren’t frequently wiped :(More
Generally loved the ambience We sincerely apologize for the delay of the breakfast - we had a trip in the kitchen which took a while to rectify. I do not believe this is a good enough excuse, we will duly make effort to see to...More
We had coffee at deli while waiting for table at main restaurant. Was ok. Damian (from restaurant) was supposed to phone me when table was available at restaurant. He never did. Waiter at deli was nice enough to go and find out about table. The...food at restaurant was really not up to standard and service was poor. It is such a beautifull place but sadly nothing else will get me back at this restaurant. Poorly trained staff.More
Good day - thank you for your message and valued review. We have responded to your review on Google in full detail, and asked for your contact details so that we may be in contact. Apologies for your underwhelming experience.
The beautiful setting and food is spoilt by poorly trained waiters that don’t care about the service they offer. Don’t take my order, only to return 10 minutes later and bluntly say ”The kitchen says they do not have potato chips” Rather come and say...sorry we don’t have chips but we can offer you …… in its place. Our waiter disappeared like the mist and we had to order a round of drinks from another waiter. Then my food is bought to the table almost 5 minutes before my wife’s food. Surely the kitchen can pair the 2 meals seeing we were only 2 people at the table. As expected, our empty plates had to be removed by another waiter as ours was MIA. I had to wait 10 minutes after asking for the bill for him to bring it. This at 09h00 in the morning when they were not even busy!More
Dear Stuart - as per our reply on Google reviews, please see below. Thank you. I am so so sorry! What a disappointment… it just sounds like nothing went right on Sunday morning… On behalf of kitchen I apologize for the irregular way they sent...More
Amazing atmosphere and food! Afroboer truly provides for a unique experience, and provides a relaxing environment to unwind. I would highly recommend it for all foodies!
Beautiful setting with a lush garden and lovely area for children to play. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly and efficient.
This is one of my regular spots. It is a hidden gem in Pretoria with stunning garden and amazing food. Most importantly, it has an fantastic coffee.
Afroboer is definitely my favourite Café for coffee with friends! And if you are looking for the best Carrot Cake in Pretoria, look no further!
Thank you so much for your review and feedback Melanie. Kind Regards, Michelle
When writing about this lovely restaurant/coffee shop one has to start by mentioning the beautiful setting. It's situated in a beautiful and lush green garden that is free to all patrons to enjoy. Another standout feature is the menu that offers a lot of interesting...items not often found in restaurants. This extends to some traditional local favourites and then there's all the confectionery, come hungry! They are well priced taking into account the quality and well worth a visit but do yourself a favour and make a booking, especially during popular times as they do get quite busy.More
Thank you so much for your lovely review Dawie! Hope to see you again soon. Kind Regards, Michelle
I ordered the orange and poppyseed cake to take away. The cake was dry, stale and didn’t taste like orange at all. R50 down the drain. What a waste and rip off! This wasn’t the first time.More
Dear Jerona - Oh no! I am so sorry, that is certainly not good. And you mention this has happened before? I am shocked but grateful that you have brought this to my attention, I appreciate it so much thank you. Will definitely have a...More
We arrived on fixed appointment BOOKED for 1 O’clock (13:00) @ 12:45 early! They did not know about us although the booking was confirmed. We were seated in a totally empty section of the resturant (So not even 50% full) Sequence of pathetic events :...- Order Wine 🍷 Glasses smell - visibly dirty (Request please clean) They actually smelt like dirty dishwater. Replaced! Great wine 👍🏻✅ Now the tatty menu (See pic attached) 📛 We Order - Starters not available 😡 12:57 - main meal ordered • Oxtail (Sold Out) • Liver (Sold Out) • Vetkoek (Sold Out) No Management available - we paid for the Red Wine 🍷left on table and walked out! NEVER TO RETURN One positive the Cake 🍰 on desplay looked very good, as we walked out!!More
Hi Shaun - we tried to get in contact with you many times via phone, and also spoke to your wife after the visit to try and rectify and make up. Full reply on Google Reviews. Regards, MIchelle.
From the minute we stepped in Afro-broer we were greeted with friendly smiles all round. Here I could spend some quality time with my daughter in a very pleasant atmosphere and stylishly decorated restaurant. The menu offers a wide array of fresh food and very...interesting combinations. The Breakfast Burger with extra fries and garlic mayonnaise was the order of our choice! For the first time in along time I was served with a home made bun as a burger bun, wow! I could have just eaten that on it's own. It was soft, fluffy and super tasty. The chips on their own could too have been a meal on their own. They were cooked to perfection and the garlic mayonaise was the perfect combination. Oh my word, they have an mouth watering selection of freshly baked cakes and goodies that we did not even get to try...I will be back!!! Staff were very friendly and efficient, thank you!More
Vibey indoor seating or outside in the serene garden. Friendly efficient service. Some wonderfully different milk drinks to choose from like beetroot and crème brûlée to get you started with a wide variety of yummy sweet things. The carrot cake tasted as good as it...looked. The banting and boere breakfasts were both delicious. Wonderful day out.More
