It came highly recommended by a local but I was rather disappointed. The place was practically empty as we came. The menu is vast which I do not like not just because of the difficulty of making a choice but also how can the restaurant...possibly make all these dishes. Many dishes had quite short descriptions so hard to know what they were. My dish was described as having lime in it and having sweet sour taste. I tasted no lime whatsoever. The rice I ordered with it didn’t taste freshly made and the poppadum we were given was rather stale. My friends ‘s dishes were better. Maybe I just made the wrong choice of the vast menu but it was one of the lesser dining experiences in Pretoria largely because we were the only customersMore

This place was phenomenal. I am sure it is one of the best places to eat in Pretoria. We where helped by the owner that gave us great advise on what to eat and suggested a dish called burnt garlic rice which was just brilliant....I had a paneer tomato curry which was great. Service excellent. Cannot fault the placeMore

For our fifth outing for Restaurant Week, we re-visited one of our all-time favourite restaurants and as always we were not disappointed. Our friendly and courteous waiter was attentive and ensured that all the tables she attended to were happy and well looked after. To...kick off the evening we were served a lovely appetizer of Pori Chaat (Chaat which translates to a group of snacks), which were 4 fresh and tasty baskets made from crisp puffed wheat (Pori) and filled with whole puffed rice, avocado and tomato and onion salsa and garnished with edible flowers and micro greens. A lovely, fresh snack. For our starters we shared their Prawn Lollipops and Chicken Kebab. The chicken, which was prepared in a coffee and tamarind marinade, was succulent and flavourful and perfectly grilled in the tandoor oven. The lollipop prawns which are a Kashmiri specialty was equally well prepared and superb in taste. Both dishes were served with charred broccoli (also made in the tandoor oven) and served on top of a fragrant broccoli cream and almond nut puree, with subtle notes of mustard seeds coming through. After the starters we were served a refreshing granadilla sorbet palate cleanser. Smooth and invigorating. For our mains we really enjoyed their Nepalese Style curry and Lamb Aab Gosht The Nepalese Style curry, which combined lamb, chicken into a fragrant curry, combining the beautiful flavours of ginger, fenugreek and chillies. This was served with Pilaf rice, sautéed with aniseed and coriander and tomatoes, as well as a beautifully quant naan stuffed with tomato. The Lamb Aab Gosht, which is also a Kashmiri specialty, was also packed with flavours, making the soft lamb even more delicious. This was served Kashmiri rice made with cinnamon and saffron, as well as a beautifully quant Peshwari naan stuffed with candied fruit and nuts. For dessert we shared a Chocolate Samosa and Goolub Jamboo. The traditional Goolub Jamboo (an Indian sweet made with milk solids, sugar, rose water and cardamom) was sweetness filled joy on a plate. This was served with Malia ice cream and frozen strawberries. The Chocolate samosa, which was a decadent delight, being filled with a high quality chocolate was served with a creamy nougat ice cream. Both deserts were freshly made and the perfect ending to a great evening.More

Situated in the Brooklyn mall, the traditional Indian cuisine is well loved by all that visit and does not shy away from trying more out of the box ideas and combinations of the more traditional. As always, we were warmly greeted by Gita, constantly ready...with a smile, she ensures that all her patrons are well looked after and very well fed. Our friendly waitress was attentive and eager to explain all the delicious dishes on offer. We received a complementary naan, crisp and thin it was topped with chili, tomato, onion and tamarind. Very flavourful and lite. Next we selected our two starters, a mini platter of starters and a Saffron Lamb Shorba. The mini starter platter consisted of a Rajuli Kebab (chicken spiced with North Indian spices, served with a creamy coconut sauce, a Thread Lamb (equally well spiced lamb kebab with and deliciously crisp coat) and Dhal Arancini (dhal formed in a ball and deep dried) served with a tomato based sauce). All 3 were very flavourful and unique in their own style and preparation. The Saffron Lamb Shorba, which is a star anise, gingery, lamb shank soup reduction, delivered a strong ginger flavour which cut through the richness of the fatty shank reduction to form a very flavourful (and filling) soup with lovely soft chunks of lamb shank at the bottom. This was served with an allo papad roll (basically a crispy spring roll on a stick). After the tasty starters, a refreshing berry sorbet was served that cleansed the palate with its beautiful hue of berry creaminess. For Mains we selected their Coconut Prawns and Nali Lamb. The Coconut Lime Prawns were well prepared in a delicately spiced sauce (for my personal chose I wish I had ordered this dish more spicy than safer medium, despite everything being prepared well, it just needed that extra step of heat). While the Nali Lamb (Nali is a type of sheep found in Rajasthan and other districts of India), was deliciously bold with their spices, and combined with the soft, cooked meat formed a great curry chose. Both dishes were served with a beautifully soft baked brinjal on top of the fluffy mountains of basmati rice. A Honey Naan (which ended up being a perfect companion to the spicy curry dishes, sprinkled with earthy black sesame seeds) and a papaya salad (preserved cabbage forming the base of the sweet papaya with the nuttiness of white sesame seeds). All aspects of each dish and their accompaniments were really well selected and chosen to highlight the flavours on your plate. For desert we selected their Trio of Kulfi and Rose Petal Ghewar. The Kulfi Trio (consisting of a Pistachio kulfi and Rose Water kulfi) was served Bombay style. These kulfis portions were dressed up as mini ice cream sandwich and very tasty. Creamy without being too rich and packed with flavour. The Rose Petal Ghewar, which consisted of a ghewar (a disc shape made from ghee, flour and sugar) was filled with malia rabri (dense boiled creamy milk, with nuts) and dressed in rose petals & nuts. This desert was equally tasty without being overly sweet and was the perfect ending to a hearty meal.More

The title of the review is from my eight-year old son. It's what he said after taking his first bite. He is a discerning young lad having had Indian food in places where it is at its finest including London and Nairobi. Suffice to say...everyone in our family thinks Geet is the best Indian restaurant in all of Pretoria. This was our second "carry out" experience and was even better than the first. We had four vegetarian dishes and three non-veg dishes including standards like Paneer Makhni and Butter Chicken as well as some less common dishes like Jalandhari Gobi Bhurjee and Nepalese Biriyani. The Chaana Masala and Pesto Panner were also really tasty. We ordered everything "mild" which is probably just right for most palates. The menu is extensive and will keep you coming back to try new delicacies. While it isn't cheap by South African standards, each dish is enough for two meals, assuming you have it with rice and naan. We look forward to future visits to Geet.More

We went for the Restaurant Week 4-course lunch at R250 pp. Seriously, do not eat anything before you go. Portions are generous. For mains we had the Coconut Lime Coriander Prawns and the Nally Ghost Lamb. Both dishes served with rice, potato and naan. Both...were aromatic and delicious, but the prawns were out of this world. The desserts were good, but after all the courses, the ice-cream alone would have been more than enough. The affordable Gewűrztraminer complimented the curry wonderfully. Great service from Wellington and charming owner.More

We dined here for Restaurant Week. The set menu had a good variety, with something for everyone, including mains of chicken, lamb, prawns, ostrich, as well as a vegetarian option. My starter was lamb arachini, which was a lamb meatball with a crispy cumin pastry,...and was delicious. I had the lamb main dish, which was divine, and consisted of a large portion of layers of vegetable breyani, jeera potato, lamb curry, and a masala mushroom naan. For dessert, I had the chocolate samoosas, which were mouth-wateringly good. It was truly well worth it, and I will definitely dine here again. The owner was very friendly and interactive. Service by Wellington was excellent.More

I took my wife to Geet Restaurant for a lunch for her birthday. This is still the best Indian restaurant in South Africa by far. The food was absolutely magnificient once again ! We had the Nally Lamb and the Allepy Chicken with mushroom rice...and butter naan. The owner Gita and her staff were highly attentive and the attention to detail was impeccable. Gita takes such pride in her dishes and in all the years we have been enjoying her cuisine we have been impressed by the consistency of quality and the delicate, complex flavours that invade your palate and leave a memory of refined, sophisticated, deliciousness, layers and layers of delicate flavours, unforgettable and unsurpassed levels of memorable satisfaction. Few Indian restaurants are capable of producing this level of quality. Definitely one of the very best restaurants in Pretoria and worth a visit. Highly recommended to all serious diners ! Order a few dishes for the table to share, so that you can get a taste of all the great...flavors. Ask the hostess to recommend something, she is always spot on for the company.More
