The most unfriendly staff I have ever experienced. Fireplace not working and plugs all out as heater couldn't be plugged in.

Can’t rate Moyo high enough! The food and location were superb. But I then made a huge error in card payment, resulting in me paying more or less double for our meal. The error was completely mine. Our very lovely waitress came running after me...to tell us of my mistake (I can’t remember her name but she was superb). Nicki and Caroline (owner and senior manager?) then went to extreme efforts to make sure we were repaid. Their care and concern was hugely touching and I am incredibly grateful to them all. Go and enjoy the food (great for gluten free, unlike much of Cape Town), the scenery and ambience, and enjoy the fact you are dining in a place of such high integrity. Thanks to you all.More

Space outside is great, inside lacks atmosphere. Friendly service. Food was okay, and fairly generous.

Well what was supposed to be a beautiful farewell lunch turned into a disaster! Service was non-existent, with it taking 30 minutes to get the first round of drinks. This even after walking around chasing the waitron a number of times to see where the...drinks were. The buffet offering was really bad, with dishes not being replenished, and again constant chasing whilst standing waiting whilst holding plates. The plates were clearly being recycled, and were being brought out of the kitchen completely wet. This I communicated many times, but they kept coming out sopping wet. Some food was inedible, the custard was burnt! It really was an embarrassment hosting international guests in the beautiful kirstenbosch gardens. I have never had such an awful overall buffet restaurant experience. Will never be back to Moyo. And we kept getting excuse after excuse of why the service was so poor. Where is the management? After a wonderful couple of hours spent in Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden on a hot, sunny day, we were thirsty and hungry. Moyo looked a perfect spot for lunch. We accepted that there was no room outside on the terrace and that it was lunchtime so...busy(!) but there were several free tables inside. Mike, our waiter took our drinks order reasonably quickly and we didn’t dally choosing our food. We got our drinks and then we waited and we waited and noticed that everyone around us seemed also to be waiting, only one table in a bit full restaurant actually had food. One guest at a table of 6 who had already ordered when we sat down ended up going and asking when their food would arrive. After about 30 minutes a female manager(?) asked another table if everything was alright to be told they were waiting for their meal. Mike then told us they’d run out of bread so the only option was wraps which we said fine but would it be soon? The manager(?) asked us if we were ok. We said we’d been waiting over half an hour so she said she’d chase our order up. About 10 minutes later my husband’s meal arrived. About 10 minutes later we had to chase up my meal. It then arrived without the chakalaka on the side. Mike appeared with this but I couldn’t face sending it back as the chef had forgotten the avocado! If the food had been worth waiting for, we might have forgiven the tardiness but it wasn’t. Such a shame because it’s a fabulous setting and building.More

Staff were very attentive and welcoming. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Beautiful setting and worth the wait for an outside table. The only thing that let the venue down was the ladies toilets ? I think there are only four toilets, one had not...toilet tissue, one the door would not close at all and the last one to try had a broken lock and the repair was quite fragile.More

This was an end of the year function , 24 of us. We had been to the Moyo at Spier for a similar function 10 or so years ago and had had a fabulous time. Well ,it was not to be this time. We immediately...got the impression that we were doing the restaurant a favour by being there. It took at least half an hour to get a drink , this after at least 3 reminders. The place is tired , the staff look tired and unmotivated , the service is sluggish and pedestrian. This was supposed to be an end of the year celebration . The experience was what I imagine a dining experience in the Soviet Union must have been like in 1978. Food was tolerable , soup cold if it was supposed to be hot and warm if it was supposed to be cold , mains ok, dessert stodgeville! Kirstenbosch is a world class destination , Moyo at Kirstenbosch is an embarrassment!More

We have just had our year end function at Moyo. It was incredibly disappointing on all levels. The venue is shabby and not very clean, the set menu was like having a bad canteen lunch. Reaply poor quality food for anset menunof over R400.00 per...head. Service was also sub standard. A total flop. It seems tired, and run with very little enthusiasm. It is a total tourist trap, trading on a name that once had a good product. AvoidMore

Very disappointing, not the standard of dining I have come to expect in South Africa. The food was non-descript and the service was disappointing. I do not wish to repeat the experience.

It is a place bit off from the Center of Cape Town but located in a great location with spectacular view. You may go for a touristic visit or to enjoy great African Food or both!

After a wonderful walk around Kirstenbosch gardens, we decided to go to Moyo for a breakfast. We arrived at 11. 30 and was bluntly told that we could not order breakfast. The staff member at tge entrance was sullen and rude and decided where we...could and could not sit. I have never seen so many miserable people in one space. Service was disgusting. By the way not for the first time. Some training is desperately needed.More

We ordered two meat plates, which were too condimented, and they were too greasy. Definetely not good value for money. Would not recommend it.
