We went here for a beer, and the venue is entertaining, a visit to the glass shop is also necessary as there are many beautiful glass features that can be purchased, overall a very good day was had
When we arrived for a pit stop en route on holiday we were quite smitten with our little find. We love beer and we love burgers. The atmosphere was great with live bad playing really lovely. Then we ordered our food and when it arrives...we were swarmed with flies. You can see it's a consistent issue as a lot of people were flicking and smacking. After 10 minutes we were totally fed up! Took our take aways and left. Tabasco our waiter was so friendly and helpful but he was helpless about what could be done about it. It's a some as some citronella lamps, wiping the tables down inbetween customers with a bit of citronella and lavender in the water on the cloths and burning a bit of coffee throughout the day to manage it. There was NO attempt at all. We left frustrated and deflated and also not trusting the food we just ate with the amount of flies around us. Management come on Step up!! You guys have a great spot there.More
We were looking for somewhere different with live music and Gilroys seemed to fit bill. The location nice, with craft market surrounding. Large beer garden, warm welcome and staff managed to get us table despite being very busy. Service friendly but little slow. Food average....During break, the owner , I assume took to stage. So my advice is, if you have any kids, especially teenagers , or are in least bit offended by sexist comments dont go. If you like chatting about 'boobies' and commenting on womans 'arses' then its definitely the place to go to! Not for us as a family but with friends could be a laugh.More
We were at a conference in the Misty Hills resort for several days, and got a little stir cray at being cooped up for five days with only a limited choice of dining options so we asked around and were given this suggestion. I can...honestly say the fish (hake) and chips, the steak and kidney pie were big and superb. We arrived in the dark, and the bar is embedded in what looks like a craft village, but in the evening in darkness Gilroys was the only lights around. It was not busy when we got there, and I can’t see why, the beer and food quality was good, so it’s a pity more people don’t just get an Uber from the Misty Hills and escape for a bit of true pub food ! Quirky rules of the house included no variance from the menu, no substitutions, etc, but the staff were very accommodating and helpful. If you like Pies, Fish & Chips and beer, then you should definitely go !More
We went to Gilroys recently on a trip to SA with all of our (local) friends and it was a fantastic afternoon! The restaurant is set under the shade of the trees and has a one of a kind atmosphere. Surrounded by little shops selling...African curious and other small restaurants, it’s a real hidden gem. We had the most amazing lunch followed by a sing along with Mr Gilroy himself. He’s a super character and had us all up dancing and singing along to his lewd lyrics! Whilst I was the designated driver and couldn’t drink, my friends all said how fantastic the beer was. I would highly recommend this place for an afternoon of fun for family and friends.More

Thank you so much for your review, Mark. We're thrilled that you enjoyed your visit and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Sunday visit. Great vibe. Great lager and ales. Superb food. Huge portions. Staff couldn't have been nicer. Mr Gilroy himself held the stage with some incredible songs and stage presence. Then he told me he had a connection with my home town Bath UK before...hugging me! Superbly set up and friendly and happy atmosphere. Enjoy , I can't wait to get back.More
Beer tasting Great. The food is great and definitely well prepared. Nice place to hang out with friends and family. The gingerbeer craft beer one of our favourites. The potato skin with cheese starter great. The chicken bunny chow well prepared and more then enough
There is a Gilroys home brewed beer for most tastes, genuine preservative free. Live music on a Sunday which we really enjoyed it wasn't too loud you could still have a conversation. Music suits a middle age crowd. Service was friendly and prompt. Pub style...food. Two people at our table had steak egg and chips and said it was delicious no extra sauce required. Hake was huge and well cooked. People raved about the pies. If you want a ristig pub type afternoon outside, it's worth a visit.More
Wow, thank you for the great review. We will continue to work hard to make every visit to Gilroy's a worthwhile experience!
