Excellent, with a small food critique

The ambience is extremely relaxing and the service is top notch, waiters follow basic serving rules i.e serving from the right etc. The food is really well prepared however the flavour combinations weren’t the best (rich lamb shank, creamy vegetables and cheesy mash). Excellent restaurant overall

Country elegance date night

My husband and I decided to try Bellgables for Date night. The restaurant has beautiful old fashioned country decor and lovely ambiance. Our waitresses Grace was lovely and very proud of the fact that she has been working at the restaurant since they opened about 25 years ago. I ordered the duck with cherry sauce which was absolutely divine and my husband had the lamb shank. The lamb was very tender but unfortunately a very small portion. We ended off with a chocolate mousse and a creme brulee. All in all a pleasant experience.

Approaching the table booked for lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday, I was astonished that so much attention was given to so much detail in preparing a table just for us! We were expected, like family, or good friends! The bubbly was on the ice, the napkins folded and the staff was marvelous in attending to every detail. Nothing of this attention to detail actually exists anymore. Then the food arrived. Silence fell around the table. Everyone transported through smell and taste to another memory. This excellence actually also does not exist anymore. Passion looks like this, and we were grateful to be on the receiving end of it that Saturday afternoon at Bellgables.

Beautiful place in the countryside.

Beautiful place in the countryside. We even saw wild zebras. The garden is beautiful and the restaurant great decorated. The staff is quite slow and not always understand what you ask. We were the only four in this big restaurant. The creamy soup of mushrooms was tasty. But my lambshank over cooked and swimming in a sauce I didn’t like. The garnish was cold and not appetizing. The dessert average. No to be honest expected much more at this nice place. Also not cheap here

Best Venue for Private Function

I hosted a party of ±50 guests at this beautiful quaint restaurant, which is a little gem ± 10kms outside of Johannesburg. Driving through giraffes, springbok, impala and zebra was such a welcome sight, that immediately relaxes you. The restaurant, with its beautiful decor, scrumptious food prepared by world-renowned Chef Errol Gobey is something to die for. We were treated with such hospitality, that I will definitely host my future functions at this fine establishment.

Delaire Graff dinner

Presented Delaire Graff wine pairing evening at #Bellgables with Errol Gobey. For welcome drinks we enjoyed the Delaire Graff Coastal Cuvée. Refreshing with tones of nettle and summer fruits and lingering aftertaste. The menu was absolutely Excellent and so tasty! We had to start at 17:00 in order to abide by curfew and alcohol restrictions. The Tomato soup paired with the Delaire Graff Cabernet Franc Rosé was exceptional and daring at the same time. It is always quite tricky to find the perfect pair with Tomato, and this was very well thought through. Salmon roses with the honey chive dressing paired harmonious with the Summer court Chardonnay and I was in awe. The stuffed fillet... whow! amazing, succulent, spiced right and loved the crunch of the veggies. The light white pepper undertone of the Delaire Graff Shiraz added beautifully to this course. I have never tasted a chocolate Crème Brulée before But the pairing with the single vineyard Delaire Graff Banghoek Reserve Merlot was next level. A scoop of the sauce drizzled on the plate with a bite of the Crème Brulée paired perfectly with the spicy plum and berry flavor, and the silky tanen of this wine. I highly recommend the dining experience at Bellgables, you are always in for a treat.

Bellgables Sensational Sensory Experience

An impromptu country drive had us addicted. Wishing to enjoy the country side and loads of fresh air, we headed Muldersdrift way. Little did we know that this scenic outing would soon become a Garmin destination of choice; with the discovery of Bellgables. A country restaurant highlighted by an: incredible atmosphere, warm welcome and exquisite food (did I mention the wine cellar?) Stumbling upon Bellgables and its multitude of offerings turned these city dwellers into country lovers. The decor is ornate, each table styled with a variety of bespoke ornaments, combining richness and opulence with elegant ease. As for the food, well, if possible, it outdoes the decor. Each plate beautifully decorated, presenting each course as a colorful explosion of art. The food itself is a delectable, mouth watering culinary delight. The fragrance tantalizing and taste extraordinary. The portions are perfectly sized leaving you contentedly, warmly satisfied. As for the service, impeccable. A definite 5 star restaurant and experience in every way. The frequent sighting of Zebra, Impala, Giraffe and Vervet Monkeys, while sipping chilled bubbly, simply add an incredible touch to this otherworldly experience. We will definitely be back...

Enjoyable dining experience with objets d’art and game.

Amazing place, in a game reserve with an odd yet beautiful assortment of objets d’art. Tall bronzes of Roman or Greek gods vie with huge Thai temple lions, and each table has an assortment of stuff. Food good but not excellent, generous servings, friendly, helpful staff make dining here an enjoyable experience.

Best restaurant in Gauteng

We had dinner at Bell Gables to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The setting is very unique and immediately as you arrive you "blend in" with the relaxed atmosphere. We arrived in time before sunset to admire the Impala gazing at the edge of the pool. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We had the chef special which was a stuffed fillet steak. It was absolutely delicious - the best. Dessert was a special combination of various desserts - again outstanding. I will definitely recommend this restaurant

Father's Day memories

Once again, Bellgables did not disappoint! We went for Father's Day lunch on 16th of June and as always it was perfect. What makes a restaurant an excellent restaurant? Of course the food, but in addition to that the full experience - from the moment you park your car and is greeted by the friendly security guy who takes you to the restaurant. Then the warm reception by friendly staff. The whole atmosphere is just on point! Lovely table decorations and fresh flowers as always, clean linen napkins, sparkling tableware and not forgetting clean toilets - these are all important when rating a restaurant as excellent and Bellgables certainly ticked all the boxes. The food was fantastic as always and the service impeccable. Because of it being Father's Day, they had a singer who entertained us with smooth background singing, all making for a very memorable experience. Thank you Errol and staff - you never disappoint!

My family & I agreed that lunch @ Bellgables Country restaurant will be the best place to enjoy our Christmas lunch- Best decision ever! The service 10/10. The food 110% delicious. Erroll, the Master chef knows what he is doing. ❤ The ambiance 120%

Hidden gem

Reservation: call and make a reservation before hand. I was lucky and called them an hour before lunch and they had 1 table available. Lunch: Ordered starters, mains and dessert. All the dishes were beautifully presented, bursting with flavors. Ambiance: stunning, loved the table setting, decor all around. Overall 10/10 I will definitely come back again with my family to let them enjoy this hidden gem.

Worth the drive

This restaurant is at the very end of a bumpy dirt road. Once there all your apprehensions will disappear. Beautiful setting in an African game park with zebra and impala to enhance your dining experience. The ambiance, food, and service staff were excellent. Don't miss trying the brinjal stack salad.

Wonderful, unusual decor and ambiance. Food was top notch. Service attentive and “old school” special. Highly recommended. Try it with a bunch of friends for something special. Or a romantic meal fir two.
