While waiting for my next appointment we decided to have brunch at this restaurant. Having been to several other News Cafe's I was sure that it will be a good experience. Unfortunately it turned out to be at best an average experience. The waiters were...chatting amongst themselves and not showing much interest in the clients needs. When our food was served, I could not believe the small portions. For the high price paid for the food, which was well served and well prepared, the portion is poor especially seen in the contexts of South Africa who are world renowned for their generous portions. Not a good experience and will not visit again.More
Check in was quick. Early check in was appreciated, although it was Christmas season and was not busy. Room was clean on the surface and the upper part of wardrobe was so dusty that I just could not believe it. Found medication on the floor....A scary moment as we had a crawling baby who could have easily picked that up.More
Classy restaurant by day but transforms into a nightclub after the sun goes down. Casual yet smart patrons, mostly young professionals from Midrand and surrounding areas. Very cosmopolitan atmosphere. Worth a visit when you are around Midrand.
This place has a cozy atmosphere, the food is awesome. the cheese burgers are juicy.
I had a training closer to news cafe, and enjoyed my lunch for several days at this news cafe.
i would love to go there again .. and again..
I blow hot and cold for this place. This News Cafe is known for alcohol, it is generally referred to as the shebeen! The food is good but the waiters disappear for long periods of time! this happens all the time, even during quiet times,...17:00 - 19:00 on a Saturday. That is the cold breeze.
This place rocked during the Sunday Souls Session with Wilson B. Nkosi, Sentle (Metro FM) and TBose (Kaya FM)! The music was super, the crowd was great - singing along and dancing!
It is a convenient meet-up location since midrand is not spoilt for choiceMore
Nice and cozy, delicious food and fruit juice! We spilled a whole glass of pulpy orange juice on the floor and the waiter was so nice about it and all smiles. The manager was also very friendly and came to our table with much appreciated...common pleasantries. They made us feel welcome! Absolutely in love, will definitely go there again.More
