Airport Craft Brewers is one of only three airport-based craft breweries in the world - and the only one in Africa. There are two Airport Craft Brewers restaurants at O.R. Tambo International Airport: one ‘landside’ (before security) and one ‘airside’ (after security) in the Domestic Terminal. We are open from 05:00 to 22:00, seven days a week and 365 days a year, Airport Craft Brewers offers tempting meal options for any time of day – from quick, healthy breakfasts to tempting tapas and hearty meals. Our menu is diverse, with our salads always fresh, the buns for our burgers baked fresh every day, in-house and there’s even a fun, healthy kids’ menu for the young ones.

Best Airport Restaurant Ever

As a mildly well travelled person I can confirm that this restaurant is the best in the airport business. The food was incredible, fresh and amazing. The beer was cold and on tap and the coffee was divine. The service was professional.

Good airport food with friendly service

Had a few hours to kill at Tambo International Airport so visited Airport Craft Brewers for food and drink. Our waiter was a very friendly and efficient young man called Jermain who was keen to make sure we had everything we needed. Hubby and I shared a very good burger with cheese and mushrooms which came with fries. Very reasonably priced and very tasty. There were a variety of craft beers but we stuck with the Blond which was cold and delicious. I also tried a very green margherita! We would definitely eat here again.

Strong coffee and great eggs Benedict

I love the strong coffee and if you're looking for a perfectly cooked eggs Benedict then this is the place to go in OR Tambo airport. Located in the Domestic departures waiting area, at gate D5. Thank you Qaphelani, you gave us great service and you were quick and efficient.

I WAS a frequent visitor

As I frequently fly Domestic to Cape Town, I book in and then go to Airport Craft Brewers, where I either have a meal or a soft drink in their smoking room. I have always enjoyed going there, the food is good and I can have a cigarette prior to boarding. The last time, which was the 2nd week in January 2020, I was making my way into the smoking room to be confronted (just before entering) by a very rude waiter, who said "PATRONS ONLY"!! I was quite taken aback at his rudeness, and will have second thoughts about going there again.

Thank you for your feedback, Lauren. As you'll know from your many experiences of our restaurant, your experience is the exception, rather than the norm. The behaviour of the waiter who approached you is not in the spirit of the service at ACB, and not acceptable on a personal level. If you're able to provide any details (Waiter's name, time/date of incident) we'd like to look into it - if you'd like, you can mail us on info@airportcraftbrewers.co.za. In mitigation - though no excuse - our staff have been having a difficult time recently with visitors wanting to use our smoking area without placing any orders. We've even had customers wanting to bring in takeaway drinks and food to make use of the smoking area. We've had to take a stand against this as the smoking room isn't a public or airport facility - it's part of our restaurant which is very heavily utilised, since it is the only smoking section available on the airside of the airport. That doesn't excuse the staff member's behaviour, though, so if you're able to share details, we would appreciate the chance to look into it. We hope you'll give us another try and won't let one negative experience ruin the long-standing relationship you've have with our restaurant.

The quality control is not that great.

We visit Airport Craft Brewers quite often and always have a great experience. Early Desember we had a late lunch at the restaurant with the family. We were greated very friendly. Two of the menus were very dirty and smelled like smoke. We waited a while for our drinks. Which we thoroughly enjoyed. Most of our group ordered Gourmet Burgers with chips and I ordered the Fillet Mignon medium rare with chips. The burgers were nice and juicy and the chips were very tasty. But my steak was very thin and cooked medium well. The waitress asked if everything was okay. She took the steak back and brought a fresh steak. Still not brilliant and cooked medium the second time. The Grill chef need some training on cooking Fillet Steak. It must be cut thicker to get the steak medium rare.

The service was on point, our waiter Blessing was super ifficient and very pleasant. Ordered a starter Calamari, very, well prepared and tasty and to top it, the best Tartar sauce ever to compliment it. Thanks

Fabulous Food and Service

What with Covid and no food being served on flights we arrived at OR Tambo very hungry. We had an early lunch at the AIRPORT CRAFT BREWERIES and had the most Devine beef burger. Our waiter Joseph was so professional and his service was so quick.Hot coffee and delicious food and the restaurant has a convenient smoking area. Ask for Joseph for exceptional service !!

Best Airport Food?

Transiting through OR Tambo airport and looking for something to eat we came across Airport Craft Brewers. Probably the best airport food I have had. Tasty cold drinks to wash food down with! Great place to sit and people watch at the airport for an hour. Would recommend to anyone wanting to eat that this airport!

Outstanding food, coffee & service!!

This was our first greeting upon arrival from the USA to S. Africa and it was so wonderful! We ate at the Airport Craft Brewers at OR Tambo Airport where the staff was extremely friendly, welcoming and kind. Our server, Qaphelani (22) was particularly kind and very committed to making our experience a pleasant one. He's an outstanding server and we will ask for him on our return layover. Our breakfasts were outstanding, very reasonably priced, and the latte was sooo delicious!! Looking forward to our next great meal and latte!!! Thanks for the outstanding service Qaphelani!

3 hours wait. Not a bad thing

I droped off my sister in law @ 18h00, cause she was going back home, and my wife landed(got off work @21h00) so I spent 3 hours in the restaurant. The waitering was great they did not bother constantly and did not wait to long to ask for a refill(had 3 beers). Nice vibe, has free wifi for the whole Airport, food and drinks prices good. Service for me was excellent. And my rating is purely on service. I recommend this place if you are early for a flight or if you just landed.

Best place for a quick bite and beer

Hands down best place to grab a quick bite to eat and kill time before your flight. Located conveniently near a WiFi hotspot, the menu is concise and the beer is always flowing. Our server, Qaphelani, was incredible. He was quick to get us seated, made sure we always had what we needed, and was super friendly and personable. Food was great! She had the avo toast and I had the eggs Benedict (and of course a flight of 7 different beer tasters, I think the ABC English IPA is my favorite). My girlfriend and I came hungry and left full and satisfied.

Great quality airport food and very friendly service

Stopped for breakfast after a long flight. Delicious cooked breakfasts and our waiter Qaphelani was very helpful making sure our gluten free family member was catered for. Bacon and fresh juices were especially delicious.

Hmm. So I travel domestically very often, I plan my timing well so can always enjoy a cup of coffee and a smoke in the smoking area. It’s been a decades long relationship with them. Today on entering the establishment the waitress, before even greeting me, shouted “patrons only” and said you have to buy something. I know the drill, I was not carrying any other food items from elsewhere but her presumption just screamed extortion and terrible customer service. She did this to myself and another guest also heading inside. I always pay patronage to this place whose staff up until now have always been kind and accommodating. I make extra effort to ensure I tip the staff well. Never again. This place will receive the bare minimum from now on. Before entering I went for a bathroom break and the server at the entrance had the audacity to say “you’ll be back”. This place was always a joy to take a break in, now you are made to feel like a criminal. And now as I sit writing this three people have walked in, lit up and not ordered anything! Highly frustrated and disappointed.

My family and I visited South Africa recently and wanted to explore as many different eating experiences as possible. The Airport Craft Brewers was OK but not exceptional. Slightly disappointed in the service and cost.

Stumbled in there with 25 minutes to my flight. Thabo, the waiter, said he will make things happen. I was served 2 ice cold ales and a stunning cheese and avo burger on a fresh brioche bun. A 25 minute highlight in an otherwise hectic day.
