We had a fantastic High tea at the Silver Teaspoon. The garden setting was very relaxed and tranquil and the table was fabulously set with dainty crockery and flowers. Great selection of high tea treats.

We visited this "Victorian" tearoom for a light meal and tea. I phoned asking whether a booking is required and was answered in a rather bored tone of voice that I can if I wished to do so. Which I did. However, on arrival, there...was no reservation but fortunately a few tables were vacant. On-the-premises parking is available but limited. No signage pointed to additional parking so I assume none is available except for parking in the street. (In Johannesburg street parking is an immense risk to take.) The menu is limited. However the meal we had was delicious although portion sizes are "economical" at best. Afterwards we ordered tea and scones. Only the scones arrived. We again ordered the tea. The scones and strawberry jam was delicious. Service is friendly but decidedly languid if not strained. (Waitrons are forever chatting with each other, resulting in you waiting for service.) The venue's decor is not anything near Victorian, rather shabby chic with stitched together doilies on a sideboard and various lampshades hanging from the ceiling. Rickety chairs complete the setting. In summary, small portions of good food offered with uninspired service in an elegantly rundown setting.More

Visited with the family for a Mother’s Day treat. The atmosphere was great and good to eat outside in a romantic setting. High tea was average.

Looking for a good breakfast near to my brother's new home in Northcliff, Johannesburg, we came across the Silver Teaspoon. A lovely, peaceful, "Olde Worlde" restaurant set out in a beautiful garden with al fresco or indoor dining options. The use of antique and mismatched...crockery and cutlery, waiters bedecked in starched white and black uniforms add charm to the eatery. Our breakfasts were simple, fresh and tasty. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the experience. We were a little put off by the "Press Stick" adorning a picture and some of the many ornaments that looked like they needed a good cleaning.More

Visiting home after many years away, my family and I met my aunt for a late breakfast and what a delight to discover the Silver Teaspoon in Northcliff! Set in a mature garden surrounded by trees and birdsong, we enjoyed a glorious couple of hours...on the sunny verandah (in winter!). Between us, we sampled a rage of treats from the menu, all of which were delicious and well presented on the eclectic mix of nostalgic porcelain and delicate silverware.More

Great place. Nice High tea. Macaroons are out of this world. Nice setup. You can sit under the trees in the garden or inside.

Vintage decor, fabulous food, lovely shops to browse through ... pity they don't have enough on-site parking. Situated in a lovely old house. I absolutely ADORE the decor!!! The lampshades are exquisite! The side plates are all different, the mugs are all different patterns and...the colored crystals in the sugar bowl ... Books on the table, tied with a ribbon and topped with a string of 'pearls' ... out of this world. Water glasses look like crystal and wine glasses are lovely. There's a patio with tables under umbrellas, a small patio undercover with tables, some tables in the garden, the one room where we were seated with glass doors opened to both patios and a separate room for private parties, painted in moss green. The ladies' bathroom - fabulous!! Old vintage underwear artfully displayed, black lace curtains in front of the windows and the best part ... the top of the toilet cistern has these broken cups and saucers 'mosaic ed' ... absolutely fantastic!!! Service was at times a little slow, but overall very good. I had a looooooong look at the dessert table but unfortunately was very brave. heehee. A Banting cheesecake looked fantastic! With a nut crust and coconut flour in the filling. A meringue pecan pie ... I should have bought a piece! Breakfast is served throughout the day. The Silver Teaspoon breakfast was ordered by 2 ladies ... and that cheese scone served with butter and strawberry jam looked amazing!!!!!! Crispy on the outside! I had the Mediterranean Scone ... a deeeevine crispy outside yum inside scone, one topped with crushed Sundried tomatoes and one topped with Basil Pesto, served with 2 eggs. It was absolutely sooo my style of food!!!!!!! It will be real hard to choose anything else! One lady had the Banting Tuna Tart ... it actually looked like a sandwich, but was Tuna Tart without crust. A Chicken Quiche without crust as well as a Roasted vegetable salad was ordered and looked real good. A baked cheesecake was served with ice cream and cherry sauce. The Traditional English breakfast came with bread and pork sausage. They don't have a liquor license, so you're welcome to bring your own wines.More

I had a surprise High Tea Birthday party here. It was absolutely wonderful and amazing and I was told the staff really went out of their way to make everything run smooth. The setting and detail was beautiful. The food was the best and a...feast for the eyes. The feedback from our guests was all good and some even said they would like to return. I would also like to take my guests who couldn't make it, back and show them what they have missed out on. Bravo, well done team and a big Thank You to my host!!More

I've driven past The Silver Teaspoon many times, and finally decided to take a step inside with my boyfriend, and we were not disappointed! We booked for High Tea, and since it was a little chilly outside, we took a table in the Garden Room....Surrounded by cute decor, wonderful flower arrangements, and adorable mismatched china, you have to spend some time taking it all in. A Jug of Sweet Iced Tea, a pot of Earl Grey, and scones with cream and jam, just to start you off. After a while we were given delicious soup, and wondered what was next. Then the main event is a tiered stand full of savoury and sweet goodies, with another plate of little cupcakes. I've attached a picture of our wonderful spread. All of the nibbles were so delicious and I struggled to finish! Definitely a great place for a relaxing afternoon, no need to rush, just unwind and enjoy!More

Again a lovely luncheon in intimate Victorian like setting with both service and quality of food to be complimented. One of those cherished little gems one doesn't want to become to crowded. Highly recommended .
