Superb food. Melanzane alla parmigiana: the flavour of aubergine came through with no overload of cheese or sauce. The veal ravioli was superbly flavoured with sage and butter. The gnocchi was soft in a flavoursome Napoli sauce. And my seafood soup was a generous portion...and again beautifully seasoned; The house dessert with a hint of amaretto and with caramelised nuts was the perfect ending to the meal. Am certainly going back to run through their menu!More

This is a large restaurant slightly off the beaten track but with excellent Italian and European style food. It is a very popular restaurant due to the well known chef who is a vegetarian so an always good vegetarian options. I often go to Dolci...- portions are very generous and my friend and I shared a mixed seafood platter ( fritto misto) - it was delicious. I enjoy the chicken livers, someone had ix tail which was delicious and the pastas are all great. There is a great choice of delicious desserts. It’s a casual and very delicious restaurant ti treat yourself to. The prices are not over the top so it’s busy all month through!!More

A family run Italian restaurant with a great new pizza bar section. We wound up going back a second time the next day cause there was so much to chose from on the menu. Everything we ate was super fresh and tasty, I had a...salami pizza the first day the tagliolini carretiera a homemade thin pasta with fresh tomatoes, chili and olive oil.More

This family owned business serves delicious Italian food in one of the best restaurant settings in Johannesburg. The kitchen is run by an old Italian lady who makes great Italian dishes.I had their pasta and prawn tails which was delicious! If you like big portions,...then this is not the place to go, the portions are just right, leaving enough space for dessert. They also serve breakfast. The parking is not readily available, so one might need to take an Uber. They are not cheap, but in line with their great quality of food.More

Had a brilliant night out at this hidden gem. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked and they have some signature dishes you can't miss. The new pizza oven truly delivers. Happy customers!

I am sorry to report that after visiting this restaurant a number of times in the recent past (and reviewing it here with 5 stares), I did so today (13/10/2019) and found that the quality and taste of the food was certainly not up to...scratch. I ordered the deep-fried calamari as a starter (one which I have had often before and thought was brilliant) but today it was simply tasteless. I do not know what was missing from the batter or the calamari itself - it was entirely dull and average. The mussels I ordered, I was told afterwards, were not available, and so I opted for the steak tartare, which I have also had several times before and was always excellent. Today it was stringy and flavourless - the quality of the meat (which practically determines the success of such a dish) was definitely not acceptable. No excuses here. One of my friends had the stuffed artichokes which I also tasted, and, I am afraid, were well below anything that should come out of a restaurant kitchen of this level. The artichokes themselves were tasteless and textureless, covered with a mess of gluey white cheese that added nothing to the ensemble. (I got the distinct impression that they had been microwaved.) The stuffing tasted of a sweetish cake flour - almost like carrot cake. A decidedy peculair comobination. The veal ravioli with butter and sage, ordered by another member of our party, looked very good but I was not offered any to try. All in all, I am afraid, a failure. I am very sorry to have to remove this restaurant from my list of favourites, very few and far beween as they are, at least in this mining camp called Johannesburg. Service was good as always. But, as they say, not enough to save the day.More

This place came highly recommended. There is no chef in the kitchen. As a result everything is heavily over salted. The service was very good but they need to work on the food, especially anything with meat in it. The owners were on the floor and...left early on a Sat night. They or whoever the chef is should be in the kitchen overseeing the food prep. They should reduce the menu and focus on what they are good at.More

Tables too small for a group of 4 struggling to find space and chairs uncomfortable, better if you can grab a cushion. One of our dishes did not arrive with the others and was cold. Sent back to be warmed. This diner sat with nothing...while others ate and then sat again while dish warmed. Quality of food was mixed, 2 liked, 2 not so much. Restaurant should have offered a drink, appetizer, comped the dish...something as consideration. Saw other tables offered bread upon arrival, not us.More

I visited this restaurant upon recommendation of the business associate I was meeting. What a gem hidden away in a leafy suburb. Quirky decor, friendly team and great variety of food and drinks on offer. Very relaxed, casual atmosphere. I chose fried haloumi for a...starter, which was presented on a pretty plate and well presented. However, the portion was rather tiny (maybe unfair of me to compare to the generous portions served at Greek restaurants). The sweet chilli sauce with the haloumi was more sweet than chilli. For main course I chose beetroot ravioli with sage butter. Totally fantastic taste and I just loved the plate of pink food. The minus one star is for the underwhelming haloumi, but I will go again to try other dishes.More

Had lunch in Dolci in the leafy suburb of Craighall Park recently and I was very impressed. They were keen to engage and ensure we had a good gastronomic experience without overly fussing. The food was excellent and the wine list was more than adequate...to accompany the good meal. Parking on the roof avoids the busy road but get there early to secure it. Decor is smart and traditional and the restaurant is faily flexible on where/how you want your tables positioned. A mid price suburban experience you will want to repeat once you'been there.More
