Super Sconto is a breath of fresh air and a real taste of Italy. NOt only does it have a restaurant but it also has a delicatessen and store that sells a wide variety of Italian delicacies. A delicious one stop shop

This is worth a visit , they have parking and a wide range of Italian products in bulk or in normal sizes . Up stairs the deli is worth getting a meal at - very reasonable and made in front of your eyes

First, let me be honest. The place, in decoration terms, looks like a Russian state enterprise canteen in the times of the USSR. Bright lights, neat cheap floors and tables without any kind of aspiration to appear in the next issue of Elle Decoration. However,...please leave aside this first impression and let's start with the shop. Amazing products, straight from Italy, at very competitive prices, much cheaper than our usual Woolies and PnP. And the quality, madonna, fantastic. The largest selection of premium pasta and canned tomatoes, artichokes, tuna, olives and olive oil in town. Then move to the "restaurant". Again, do not be surprised by the "decoration", clean tables, bright neon light and attentive, although a bit unpersonal, service. Clearly, you do not come here to romance, flirt or being seen. You come here to eat properly because your "mamma" wants to you be properly fed. Amazing selection of antipasti and cold meats and the paninis... Apparently, customers seem loyal ones, rather ageing and very Italian. Do you remember the butchery of Tony Soprano with the coffee terrace and the pink piggy on the roof? Well, so imagine it in Johannesburg. Fantastic place to shop and lunch, but only to lunch.More

Parma Ham and Cheese Panini is outstanding. Truly authentic fare and imported Italian goodies. Location is the only drawback- but well worth it when inside.

This is THE place to get your Italian food supplies - and you can pack in a mean sandwich over coffee at their deli, too. Artichokes and mellanzane are to die for!

I had the most delectable panini with quality ingredients. The cappuccinos are tiny but delicious. The array of Italian goods on sale in the store is impressive.

Got some bottle of decent white wine at the downstairs bottle store on the ground floor. You have to order your food at a counter next to the deli. Some good antipasti with delicious Italian bread and some authentic Italian past dishes. Hot meals only...from Tuesday to Friday. The restaurant is only open during the day. Food is absolutely delicious and service is as good as it can be with no real waiters around. If you you are looking for a no nonsense approach to good basic Italian food for a very reasonable price that's the place to be! .More

Upstairs you can build your own panino, order homemade daily specials and enjoy the best cappuccino in town. Downstairs, you have your pick of imported Italian-manufactured foods in the supermarket. Long may Super Sconto live!

Super Sconto so situated on Louis Botha Ave, in a slightly dodgy area of Joburg. It's a well-kept Joburg secret - both the supermarket downstairs and the eating area upstairs. The supermarket is great for stocking up on products from Italy and the restaurant serves...daily pasta specials, antipasto and sandwiches. You have to order at the counter and the food is then brought to your table. The food is simple fair but made from the finest ingredients. The service is well...italian... Only the cappuccino isn't up to standard but still drinkable. Definitely worth a visit over lunch time, if only to see the wide variety of interesting patrons at the other tables.More

Love this place for a lazy Sunday breakfast. If you like Italian treats like artichokes, grilled aubergine, mortadella, mozzarella balls, good cappucino, this is the place to go. There is also the supermarket downstairs for all your supplies. It's a bit pricey, but you find...all those speciality things that you can't get at the Pick n Pay. The location is perfect for me, and I hope they keep trading from there, so I can always drop in on my way home.More

Every time we are in Johannesburg we stop by Super Sconto. The antipasti are real tasty and of course we always go home with some goodies. It so reminds us of Italy and the foods we enjoy.
