It's the Four Seasons Westcliff. What more can I say. The views, the ambience, the levels. Another experience in the bag for me! Their oysters are probably the freshest I've had. Had salmon for mains, and the crispness of the skin was perfect! Dessert was...a decadent creme brulee whivh melted in my mouth!More

Efficient staff, good food and, romantic ambiance. Afternoon noon brunch worth every penny. Oysters were a treat and champagne was nice touch.

The service staff are still on top of their game, but the kitchen a been found wanting. Key spices which are listed on the menu have been left out, food is either over cooked or stale….this has been a very disappointing experience for such an...icon of the Johannesburg food scene, basically overpriced takeout..More

Flames used to be a fabulous restaurant with a great view, lovely food and drinks menu. We had a family celebration dinner there this weekend and were very disappointed. Prices are the only thing left that is still upmarket! The food was mediocre at best,...the wine list is uninspiring and extremely overpriced and the service atrocious. We had no communication for more than 30 between courses. Even their attempt at pouring an Aperol Spritz was disappointing. (It may be worth their Food and Beverage Manager researching how to make an Aperol Spritz before European Tourists are able to grace these shores again!). Flames has been reduced to a pile of cold ash. Its offering needs a major overhaul!More

This is the 3rd event I have attended at Flames in the past 6 months. Won’t go again. I had hoped that each time it was just an “off” day. The food is mediocre at best. You also do not get a welcoming reception once...arriving at Flames- arrogance and patronizing. Cocktails took 40 min to arrive, and was served in beer glasses. 2 star restaurant that is not worth the drive.More

Ate inside due to the cold weather, the table and chairs were really uncomfortable and we were seated in a corner overlooking the smokers outside. The starters were excellent but we waited forever for our wine and mains. When the mains came my steak was...the worst piece of meat I have ever been given in any restaurant anywhere. Overcooked, gristly and cold. Three other guests of mine had the same experience with their meat. Totally unacceptable for what we paid. The restaurant lacked a manager to coordinate things (we never saw one the entire meal) and this was unexpected for a so-called 5 star hotel. All in all very disappointing.More

I took my sister from Cape Town to Flames for the views and experience, and it paid off. We had a stunning lunch (even at the expense), and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The food and service were excellent. The wine list is a bit pricey.

Despite a reservation and letting the waiter know that we would like to sit inside after having a drink and enjoying the dusk, we were moved inside to a table....no table cloth and poorly located. The wine we ordered was not available and we were...only informed about 20 minutes later. Not the greatest food in terms of value for the price.More

We visited Flames during restaurant week with friends. Restaurant week set menu, made the experience affordable but usually this would be a special occasion only restaurant with their pricing. The food was outstanding and the service was faultless. We had a lovely waiter who went...out of his way to make our evening enjoyable. The drinks and wine were incredibly expensive, but the view and food made it totally worth it. We loved our experience here!More

I indicated at the time of my reservation that it was a celebration & requested a table with a good view for this very reason. We were seated on the upper deck with a tree & pillar blocking any view & no consideration for this...request, even when tables became available on lower deck we were still not moved.Service was absolutely horrendous, our waitress was non attentive, 20 minute intervals waiting on drinks. I called it out several times & she did not care to apologize. Arrived at 12h00, only got served mains after 15h00. Given the birthday celebration not extra touch from restaurant...I've dined & had many celebrations here before & it was my restaurant of choice but ended up highly disappointed. The food was good when it eventually arrived. The setting & surroundings are beautiful however this is let down by Service. I will not be back anytime soon.More
