We went with a group of friends for an early dinner ordering the Ethiopian Food Tasting Experience. The upside was that the atmosphere was nice, although the restaurant was very empty, cleanliness was good, and the waitress was attentive and gave good service. The coffee...was also good! We liked that they offered additional plates for those not wanting to eat out of the communal platter. One strange thing was that the drinks menu only listed entire bottles of wine and spirits for exorbitant prices, so we all stuck to beer. Unfortuantely we were disappointed by the food as it was average and most of it either very bland or very spicy. We are well aquainted with Ethiopian food, so our expectations were sadly not met. The music also got a bit annoying as the dinner progressed - they played heavy jazz at quite a loud volume. Nice for a "different experience" as long as you don't go with high expectations...More

We visited Queen Sheba on a Friday night. Service was excellent, food took awhile but it was delicious. Very affordable and if you haven’t tasted Ethiopian food yet this is perfect.

This is not a place for cutlery, you need to use your hands, the food is not bland, and you can ask for more spicy powder or sauces. The idea around sharing your meals is augmented by the waitperson and she will assist and assess...accurately the portion amount and the choice selections to maximize your taste experiences. The food is GOOD, the flavours range from tasty to spicy, e.g. the Mustard was spicier than the chilli powder. The kids who normally are quite fussy, enjoyed the meals, The Veg meals were very tasty and filling as well. The service is very efficient and professional. The costs are reasonable to moderate. On Thursdays, they have a Jazz Evening, we had an experience of a saxophone and San bow being used at the same time, it was a great experience.More

Maybe we came on a bad night, but this was a disappointing evening all around. The service was friendly and efficient, but after that it went downhill. The food was adequate but my partner and I agreed we have had better Ethiopian food - which...we both love. Normally I would eat everything served, but this time we both gave up before clearing our plates. The atmosphere in the restaurant took an odd turn when the musician started playing. His music was very nice, but he started telling patrons to be quiet so people could hear him play. I appreciate when restaurants have musicians to add atmosphere to the evening, In this case, the musician acted like he was the whole reason for the evening, not people enjoying the food and the company of friends. Perhaps this musician needs to find other places to play where his is happier. I wish I could write a better review, but unfortunately I can't.More

Great welcome and great service. Rustic atmosphere and it must be great over the weekend when they have dancers and singers. We had a selection of vegetables and meats and the injera kept coming. They have the authentic Ethiopian chilli but you have to ask...for it - well worth it. The coffee is the real thing and you have to wait about 10 minutes whilst it is brewed, Accompanied with corn. A limited selection of wine but the Sauvignon Blanc was good for the price, You can take your own wine.More

Lovely clean restaurant, when we went there it wasn't busy just a quite Saturday afternoon. The food was good, especially the chicken and the veggies; the real highlight is the sweet popcorn & coffee after our meal. The coffee is a real treat.

Awesome food, even better service. So friendly and nice the people at the Restaraunt. The setting is amazing too - very well done decors and beautiful tables. Really enjoyed it. Make sure you go hungry there so you can order a second serving. Portions are...large and filling and very reasonably priced. Staff extremely helpful in making you choose the nice dishes. Must visit. Very clean and neat . Lovely music. Should definitely be a top pick for this cuisine in Jo burg.More

We were there for dinner couple of days before. Being mid-week, not much of crowd, practically empty. The food was authentic and quality Ethiopian. Though it was our first attempt of Ethiopian cuisine and that too pure vegetarian, we were thoroughly satisfied. The owner himself...took the trouble of explaining the dishes. The food was tasty. We had a full go at their "Vegetable combo" and Chickpeas curry. The food was served on a traditional big plate, without any cutlery. We have to use our hands to eat the food. It was quite enjoyable. Finished our dinner with a cup of black coffee which was served in a small cup accompanied by sweet popcorn. The staff were very smily and friendly, but the service was not very great.More

We lived in Ethiopia for many years and always look for Ethiopian food wherever we are. this is a great find! especially if you order the teff injera. our kids love the atr kik, we really like the doro wat and firfir as well as...the shiro. We drive 400km for this place! the only draw back is the location, not a great neighbourhood, especially in the evenings. will be back though whenever we are in Jburg.More
