Booked this place as I pass it often and it looked appealing and the reviews here are generally good. Being valentine's day it was busy and had a fixed menu. I am always nervous when good restaurants don't offer al-la-carte on specific days.
It was pretty packed, we arrived to find our table in the far rear corner, it was fine, except I asked for a terrace table. Service was pretty efficient although a little slow and it seemed they had few staff for a busy night.
Ordered starters, me, mussels, very good, tasty soup-like dish, wife, salmon, also OK, daughter a rather unusual bruschetta with avo...
For the mains I had chicken, cooked well but buried in a rough chopped tomato sauce, so much it overwhelmed the dish and was not delicate. Daughter had fish which was OK. Wife had pasta dish, very overcooked almost mushy. She did not eat it, and sent it back, the manager came and explained that was how his guests preferred it. Somewhat odd, as al-dente is the norm in a proper italian resto. He did offer limoncello which was good.
The wine list was very limited, and the wine we chose (as reasonable Chardonnay) was not especially good, seemed it had been warmed too often.
Anyway, we will try again, on a "normal" day.

Mediocre veal marsala, poorly presented; not authentic. Impatient service. This echoes someone’s review of March 19. Will not be returning

Service excellent. Waitress excellent. Seafood pasta terrible! Too much butter drenched over linguine. The excuse from the owner was he has told “them” not to heat for too long. No accountability for ensuring the food out of your kitchen is great, blame your staff, don’t offer to replace it and then still put it on the bill.

Lambrucos in Northcliff, Johannesburg would have to be one of the best dining experiences we had during our South Africa Trip.
Family owned and operated Raffaele and his Family presented an authenic & comprehensive menu of traditional foods supported by an extensive beverage list.
Highly recommended.

We go to Lambrusco's just got the pizza's. They have a traditional wood fired oven and their pizza's are the best in town! They have a traditional medium thick base with flavoursome generous toppings. If you like traditional then you have to go for the Napolitana - the anchovies, capers and olives are delicious!

The ambiance is warm and welcoming, the food is delicious and the service excellent. The menu has something for everyone as does the wine list. You won't be disappointed.

Had lunch with a friend at this quint Italian restaurant. On a cold day a lovely atmosphere was created by the wood fire pizza oven. The music playing was nostalgic and the white and black table cloths added to the Italian feel. Our waiter was very attentive and the owner oversaw the dishes and service. We ordered the red house wine and at R96 it was good value for money. I had the seafood pasta. Pricey at R220 but worth every cent. Succulent perfectly cooked prawns, an abundance of mussels and tender calamari strips served with spaghetti in a beautiful sauce with fresh tomatoes. It was a huge portion but I ate the last morsel. I saw pizzas being served and the toppings looked plentiful and delicious. My friend had the Melanzane Parmigiana and she was not impressed with the portion size for the prize. At least dessert made up for it. A cosy pleasant eatery that I will visit again.

Despite being right on the parking lot, Lambrusco's manages to create a cosy (though hot, if you are close to the pizza oven!) atmosphere, with personal attention from the owner. The staff are friendly and competent. I would choose carefully off the menu, as some meals are tasty and others, just OK. I had the fish, done uniquely in the pizza oven, which made it succulent with crispy edges. What was lacking was stronger seasoning or a sauce of some kind. The veggies were bland. My friends enjoyed their pasta dish and meat dish. Quite pricey, though, comparative to similar restaurants, even those in more affluent areas. Nevertheless, there is clearly a loyal following of regulars.

A regular spot which consistently provides excellent food and service. I went for lunch today - a rainy cold day and sat near the pizza oven enjoying some home cooked comfort food and great wine

Cosy trattoria with traditional Italian menu, costed as a special occasion experience. Modest pasta portions allow for multiple courses; opt for pizza if you're on a budget. The ravioli is exceptional - be sure to specify for it to be done al dente - and grab the seafood pasta if it is on special (not a standard on the menu) as it is beautifully presented and very tasty.

I didn't have this amazing Italian food since I was in Palermo.
The pizza and the pasta were delicious. Please try the sorbets? Gelato on it's glamour. The owner is incredible passionate about his origins and the grappa it's a trip by itself to Italy.
Amazing food, service and environment.
