We were disappointed with the meals. The cod was greasy and the texture was inconsistent - dry on the outside and chewy on the inside. Pepi Peri chicken was under spiced, oily and tough with soggy chips.

I found out by accident that my favourite prawns restaurant has moved to Melrose Arch. This new venue is in a much safer area and closer to home. The prawns were great as usual (R228 for 12) I had never had the Barril de Natas...before but it was great together with their superb coffee. The wine prices are good (Boschendal Blanc de Blanc R139) Graca was even cheaper but they were out of stock. Service was top class, the only down side was the bread roll was not the same standard as I was used to in the South. Will be back soon as it is now not so far to drive.More

Located melrose arch Had the same great vibe as old location, however lacked the same quality of food. An order was sent back 3 times and not once did the manager or an owner approach the table to rectify the situation. Nor was it taken...off the bill. The server did his best but was certainly not backed up by the management. I thought is wpuld be a great experience but ended up a bad night. Food was not cheap and expected much more.More

Restaurante Parreirinha has a rich history with a good reputation built over many years albeit that the location now is fairly new. It is obvious that patrons visiting this very popular establishment will then have high expectations. Our dinner was nice with good food and...wine that were reasonably priced. We unfortunately experienced some service related issues most probably as a result of the restaurant being filled to capacity. We will definitely be back!More

We went to the Melrose Arch location. I booked for the courtyard, but when we arrived was told it was full & we were seated upstairs, which was a totally different atmosphere to the downstairs section of the restaurant. The tables were not set properly....No cutlery or serviettes were given. We ordered a salad for the table to start which didn’t arrive until the main course was brought. This took 45 minutes. We still didn’t have any cutlery or serviettes. There was a shortage of staff for the number of people in this section of the restaurant. The food was tasty but certainly not the caliber we were expecting. Overall it was very disappointingMore

We had the pleasure of enjoying a lunch this past Sunday....my goodness, what a wonderful experience...the service was spot on, the meal (shrimp cocktails, prawns, steak with mustard sauce, and custard tarts to finish) was to die for, the espresso is of quality, the decor...is stunningly clean and elegant with slightly quirky touches....AND we had the Romeo and Juliet balcony to enjoy, which we loved! Sincerest thank you for a most enjoyable experience.More

Rude owner left us stranded on the top floor without any indication where our table was When we were eventually seated the service was shockingly slow and disorderly They really tried to pack maximum people in The food was bland No bay leaf or salt...on espetada. Worst ever We were a table of 6. No one raved about it There was no sign of the old lady that made Parreirinha famous Greediness won’t fill your bank account for longMore

I been there a few times about 4 years ago and always ordered the seafood platter for 1. The waiter told me they never had that on their menu which was odd! Lobster is normally their speciality yet the waiter advised not to order the...lobster even though I asked for it 3 times. He suggested the prawns which were tiny and not worth the price. Even the flavors were below average. It was the first time I left there unsatisfied and disappointed!More

The neighbourhood betrays the jewel that is this restaurant. The location is made unimportant by the time one steps in on a Saturday night. My very cautious wife perhaps had her own doubts but the welcome we received from the waiters and Gloria and the...attentive care all round made the night special for me and my wife. The light wine suggested for our seafood extravaganza was highly enjoyable and the platter served definitely knocked us out of the park. Homerun. Lobster. Langoustine (can we get two next time). Prawns - fresh might I add and very tasty. A quickly eaten kingklip fillet. Clams that were doused in a tomaty gravy joy that tastes and tingles ones ear buds. Definitely a must for any seafood lover. Step inside and forget about the neighbourhood. And do try the seafood platter with gigantic calamari charred tubes. Hi Too yummy. Loved this restaurant and will bring my family and friends. A gem 👌🏾More

A total let down and disappointing lunch experience. The food was disappointing as was the attitude of the owner (Jose?) We ordered a medium done rump espetada and a full peri peri chicken. The espetada my wife received was over done and dry and was...returned, only to be replaced by a very sinewy rump espetada. My full chicken was very dry to the extent that I requested to see the owner. I suggested he taste the chicken to determine the validity of my complaint. He refused and explained that his supplier had a problem with the size of the chickens he delivered. My complaint was not about the size of the chicken but about the quality and dryness of the chicken. Jose was irritated with me complaining and walked away. We settled the full bill and left.More

As all things in life this time to shine in time to go is time for a Restaurante Parreirinha to close down and go over the last years the has been a steady decline not only in service but also the quality of products they...are serving last night was no exception. Four people in the restaurant and it took 45 minutes to produce two steaks and two hake and chips, the fish was okay but the steaks were absolutely terrible while the owner was busy chatting to a guy at the back making jokes having not a care in the world. Both steaks were sent back not even a peep from the waiter or the owner as to enquire why they were sent back that settles that, this restaurant is now overpriced, lousy service and overrated completely much better Portuguese restaurant now around that actually take care of their clients , will not be going back againMore

We recently booked out Parreirinha for a Saturday night to celebrate our marriage a couple weeks earlier in Mozambique. We made the booking and all arrangements at very short notice. Jose and his family and team were really incredible. They were completely flexible with all...the arrangements, assisted with all the set-up and produced outstanding food and service. The chicken and prawns in particular were outstanding. We had incredible live music, partied through the night and everybody commented on the quality and the vibe. Best ever party!! I am so pleased we chose this Jozi institution!! I know many of our guests will return in the short term!! Thanks Jose - we will be back for many anniversaries and other occasions.More

The neighborhood might not be super safe but I didn't feel in danger when getting inside. The food is delicious and the prices are not too high. I really loved the ambience, it's a building with a story. Worth a try.
