A total let down and disappointing lunch experience. The food was disappointing as was the attitude of the owner (Jose?) We ordered a medium done rump espetada and a full peri peri chicken. The espetada my wife received was over done and dry and was...returned, only to be replaced by a very sinewy rump espetada. My full chicken was very dry to the extent that I requested to see the owner. I suggested he taste the chicken to determine the validity of my complaint. He refused and explained that his supplier had a problem with the size of the chickens he delivered. My complaint was not about the size of the chicken but about the quality and dryness of the chicken. Jose was irritated with me complaining and walked away. We settled the full bill and left.More

As all things in life this time to shine in time to go is time for a Restaurante Parreirinha to close down and go over the last years the has been a steady decline not only in service but also the quality of products they...are serving last night was no exception. Four people in the restaurant and it took 45 minutes to produce two steaks and two hake and chips, the fish was okay but the steaks were absolutely terrible while the owner was busy chatting to a guy at the back making jokes having not a care in the world. Both steaks were sent back not even a peep from the waiter or the owner as to enquire why they were sent back that settles that, this restaurant is now overpriced, lousy service and overrated completely much better Portuguese restaurant now around that actually take care of their clients , will not be going back againMore

Everytime I come back to South Africa this place is a must. Best Portuguese chicken, prawns and espatata going round. Maybe even in the world!

We recently booked out Parreirinha for a Saturday night to celebrate our marriage a couple weeks earlier in Mozambique. We made the booking and all arrangements at very short notice. Jose and his family and team were really incredible. They were completely flexible with all...the arrangements, assisted with all the set-up and produced outstanding food and service. The chicken and prawns in particular were outstanding. We had incredible live music, partied through the night and everybody commented on the quality and the vibe. Best ever party!! I am so pleased we chose this Jozi institution!! I know many of our guests will return in the short term!! Thanks Jose - we will be back for many anniversaries and other occasions.More

The neighborhood might not be super safe but I didn't feel in danger when getting inside. The food is delicious and the prices are not too high. I really loved the ambience, it's a building with a story. Worth a try.

Well we have been here lots of times and was going to give it up as it’s a bit far from home , but decided to give it a go as it is one of the better Portuguese places left in Joburg and I am...glad we did ! Food was super tasty and delicious ! I had the prawns and others had steak ... we all cleared our plates and enjoyed the atmosphere and ambience! And bumped into an old school mate so all in all a fab memorable evening and brilliant service ! Thanks guys for keeping the memories and taste going !More

My husband and I had a lovely dinner here. Our waiter was very attentive and patient. The atmosphere was fun and the food was delicious (I got the peri peri chicken and my husband got the prawns). Be careful though, the neighborhood is a little...disconcerting. Worth the hike, especially during daylight hours!More

Do not be fooled by the area surrounding this restaurant! Whether you enjoy a bar setting or fancy a restaurant vibe, be sure to try this restaurant! The service is very prompt - we hardly waited 10 minutes for our meals. I had the quarter...chicken, rice and vegetables. There is also the choice to have chips as well. Certainly one of my favourite restaurants and dining experiences with excellent food and fun-to-look-at decor. A must!More

Fun ambiance and service superb. That doesn’t make up for fact fish was rubbery and not properly cooked. Seasoning was uneventful. Hoped for more peri peri taste although they had sauce in table. Not the same as grilled with sauce. Liver starter excellent. Also excellent...security getting in and out from street. Sketchy neighborhood way off the grid. Take taxi not safe.More

My second visit to Parreirinha was another success! The place has a historic background and a lovely warm local buzz about it. Little corners and private places to have a cozy meal and visit. GREAT food all round!
