Fantastic food, peculiar music, disinterested management.

We asked a local for a recommendation and we were not disappointed. The food was absolutely spectacular. It is rare that a steak is cooked correctly and it was perfect. The basting was lovely, and because I asked them to be generous with it I even got a little bowl extra on the side. The spinach was amazing and instead of pumpkin it was carrots cooked incredibly. A nice change from the usual South African standard fare. Our waiter was new, not very confident but did a decent job of it. I am sure he will be fine. The Malva pudding may well be there best think I have ever ever every had in my life. I will go back just for that. Perfectly moist, taste incredible, just wow. That said, the ice cream was less nice than cheap Macdonalds Ice cream so that let it down. It also said Creme Anglaise on the menu and box custard is not Creme Anglaise. They must call it what it is, boxed custard. Or make it correctly. Our only criticism is of the crème Brule. It was over cooked on the custard and nearly crumbly - they need to take it off the heat before its set so it sets as it cools. Also, there was virtually no crust on top, and what was there was gritty and unmelted. Awful. We sent it back. I don't mind this too much as everything else was perfect. What really annoyed me, enough to have to wait to write this review, is that when the manager was told, he didnt bother to come and see us himself. We watched the manager all night. He didnt move once from the front desk. He lorded it over the staff the whole evening. I think one of the best things when I eat out is when the manger takes the time to see if all is well. He doesnt have to speak to everyone, but to take a gander around the place. Especially a place as big as this where he simply cannot see the whole space from his "spot". The kitchen and the staff obviously take pride in what they do, I feel management needs to be less entitled and more interested in those frequenting the restaurant.

We will definitely be focusing on the cremé anglais and the Cremé Brulee, we really appreciate the feedback. Criticism is always so welcome, its a great guideline for what we need to focus on and give more attention too. I do apologize that you feel there was lacking in the handling of the complaint, I know that the Manager that was working the floor that night did speak to you about the complaint and that we removed the Cremé Brulee from your bill. We always have Two to Three Managers on shift during the evenings, the Manager that was stationed behind the desk was responsible for the door and the till, that is why he kept himself stationed in the front part of the Restaurant. Absolutely best we had!

We will be moving to Bloemfontein soon and came for a few days to finalize our plans. Longhorn was recommended and we gave it a try..and WOW!!! The service was absolutely great, friendly staff, great decor and the best food we had in YEARS!! This place can be recommended for sure. We are looking forward to our meals at Longhorn grill! If you enjoy great food, give this place a try, you will keep coming back Compliments to the chef and GREAT staff.

Very good food but service can be better

I can only agree with so many other reviews, namely that the food is excellent and good value for money. However, we were seated right by the kitchen entrance and were ignored by waiters for quite some time. We were unable to find the waiter responsible for our table and eventually we were served but another waiter. Still a very enjoyable evening.

Hi there My name is Malcolm Riddle I am the General manager at Longhorn Grill Restaurant I sincerely apologise for the lack in service that you experienced when you visited our restaurant, we strive ourselves in giving excellent service to all our patrons. Our waiters go through a vigorous training period before they are allowed to start serving our guests. We were very busy yesterday and there must have been a lack in communication for who is responsible for your table, but none the less I am not trying to make excuses or excuse the fact that you had a less than perfect experience visit by our restaurant. It is definitely a problem that we will give our utmost attention to and we will strive to do better. Disappointment over an overcharge on my bill

The restaurant is well appointed with a good menu and reasonable prices. Our meal was well prepared and my steak was presented as ordered. My wife had the pork belly which she really enjoyed. Then she asked for a glass of warm water after the meal. When the bill arrived I noticed that the glass of water was charged at R6.10. I pointed this out to the waiter who informed me that cold water was free but warm water attracted a charge of R 6.10. I have eaten in restaurants in over 20 countries and in countless restaurants across the country and never been requested to pay for a glass of tap water. Come on, "Where on earth has this ridiculous practice come from?" It is iniquitous and a good restaurant such as yours does not need to resort to such a cheap practice.

Atmosphere Killer

The meal was excellent. The waiter was excellent. A nearby table had bubbly teenage twin girls celebrating their birthday. They had a HUGE cake and accompanied their waiter into the kitchen to share the cake with the staff. Then came the atmosphere killer. Someone followed them into the kitchen, started shouting and swearing at the staff at the top of his voice. We could hear every word.

Great Food Great Service

On a recent trip to Bloemfontein, the Longhorn restaurant was recommended to us. We enjoyed our meals and service so much - we returned for supper on the the two subsequent evenings. Great menu - loads of options and some awesome new twists on some classic steak house old school favourites. Can't wait to return on our next trip. Would have been a perfect 10/10 if they had more beer on tap options!

Lovely meal and excellent service at a very reasonable price

My wife and I had a one night stayover in Bloemfontein and literally picked the Longhorn Grill at random as we drove by. What a chance stop that turned out to be. The restaurant was very busy but they found a space for us. A choice of two menus provided us with a massive selection to go for and a steak was an obvious choice. Service was friendly and fast despite the business around us. I would heartily recommend this restaurant.

Excellent menu and great food

Who ever said the menu is "average" only read one page. Great menu with even seafood covered in a grill house. We were spoiled for choice and even the seafood was great. We were also offered a second menu with light meal options. Apparently a nearby restaurant had to close doors but its menu and food survived and all are available here at Longhorn. Clearly too many options but that makes it great.

Really not worth it

I must say it must have been the worst sirloin I had in my life. No taste to it and it had this chunk of rubber in it. The dish was cold and the only thing on the plate that was warm was the chips. The veggies were average. We spoke to the manager and we told them about it. He was willing to listen and check on what was going on in the kitchen. I'm still sure it wasn't a sirloin. We hope they improve.

We take a lot of pride in our steak and we have won the best of Bloemfontein seven years in a row for best steakhouse, we also placed 4th in the Wolftrap national competition for best steak house. My goodness! Our waiter, Thabang, was the best waiter we’ve had in thee longest time! Service with a smile, the drinks arrived on time. He regularly checked in with us. Our meal also arrived quickly . All our meals were delicious and served hot. The portions are more than filling and worth every penny. If you are in Bloem, do make sure to make a turn there! We were a 5 pax. We had steak, wings, ribs, chicken schnitzel and even a seafood platter! They are the home of variety! Something for everyone. The drinks are also reasonable prized.

Much improved service after lockdown

We visited Longhorn restaurant due to limited options because of lockdown. Ive been here in the past but found them snobbish and expensive. Must say that things improved a lot after lockdown. Waiters were friendly. Variety of affordable dishes. Very nice overall experience.

Once again a great visit. We use Bloemfontein as a stay over on our trips to cape province. I always make a point to eat at this restaurant. Meals is always great and I will visit again and again. Menu cover almost everything.

Fast & friendly service with superb food. Steaks were made to perfection! The starters (Snails, Chicken livers and marrow bones) were all scrumptious. Truly a wonderful experience!

I came here with my family for a quick stack before we go to cape town and it was great! Fast workers and there kind the food and drinks came quickly and my whole family enjoyed it even the starters where like main meals as Charmaine was the best employe
