You always know what you will get at Ocean Basket - really good seafood, well prepared and plenty of it. It was just the same here. We had four different dishes and all were superb. The service was good too and the views out to sea excellent. Not quite haute cuisine but always very good.

Valentines Celebrations & Celebrations with friends!

This Ocean Basket overlooking the sea and the beautiful bay/harbour is the perfect place to celebrate 19 valentines together with a special bottle of MCC Lodestone bubbly and those salmon dressed oysters are the best ever. The staff are efficient and friendly, we had a change over and the ladies came to the table to introduce the new waitress, wow, that was great service. We always enjoy this OB, even with friends or even just sitting there and soaking up the view with some delicious cuisine and a cheers. Thank you to all who makes this place so nice to come back to always.

We flew in from JHB and went for lunch thereafter at Ocean Basket. The fish was fresh and deliciously prepared. We have been to a few Ocean Baskets, but this one really impressed us. The decadent shakes was also amazing! Raspberry Shortcake Milkshake for the win! Excellent service and food Aaaaand a view of the see while you eat.

Very disappointing, food, service and atmosphere

We were a group of 8 and arrived at 7pm. That didn’t seem too late for dinner. There were a couple of tables occupied but the place was pretty empty. Our server was attentive, new and eager. We ordered oysters and main meals. We got drinks and then waited a really long time for any food to arrive. Just as we were going to ask, the main meals arrived. No oyster starters. We then said ok, forget the oysters we will eat the food in front of us. The start of an issue. A little while. Later the waiter came to tell us that if we didn’t pay for the oysters he would have to. That they had been opened and so he was on the hook for them. This may or may not have been something he did with the timing, but oysters were our appetizer so we didn’t want them after the mains. My husband went to speak to the manager, and was told that either we paid or the waiter would be made to. Three people had to speak to the manager before they agreed to void the cost and not charge the poor guy. Although we hav no proof that they didn’t, or worse. As far as the food was concerned, I had prawns, they were tasty, but the spinach and butternut veggies were inedible. Gluey and pasty and awful. They’re my favourite and I couldn’t even eat them. One of our guests ordered a salad from the description and picture on the menu, the salad that arrived was purely tomatoes. The waiters answer was the menu they use in the kitchen is different from the one on the table? They brought other veggies for her to add. We will not go back. It was a disappointing meal all around, and as my parents had booked and paid for it they felt let down. For much of the group (Canadians) it was their first meal in port Elizabeth and did not live up to the expectations of some of the best food in the world.

It is nothing special, but if you are looking for some decent seafood, in a basic setting, nothing romantic at all or so, then this might be an option. Chain of restaurants, serving fish and chips, sushi, oysters, and some combi platters. Tasteful, but nothing special. Have a beer, sit on plastic chairs and eat.

On a rainy day, lunch in this restaurant overlooking the sea was a pleasant surprise. Very helpful and kind staff. The first dish they served us was fish and shellfish with mussels of truly excellent quality. The choice of wines is also good

Despite my pitiful experience at Durban’s Ocean Basket, however, I repeated the experience in Port Elizabeth and avoided sushi this time! I decided to try the fish menu and I enjoyed it: both the starter of shrimp, calamari and breaded eggplant and the grilled sea bream presented as a paving stone like a salmon were delicious. Value for Award: count 18€ for starter-dish-dessert and drink). Pleasant setting facing the Indian Ocean and professional service, smiling and efficient. I recommend.

Tow visits within a week!!

We came here one evening during our eight night stay in PE, and made a very easy decision to return a couple of nights later. The waiting staff were very attentive, and the starter and main course that we chose were outstanding.Two outstandingly excellent meals.

I already ate at the Susi restaurant in 2016-17. Back then it was really good and tasty. This time it was unfortunately a disappointment. Ambience OK, view pretty good. Service was good. Price-performance ratio is OK.

Poor service. The waiter got the orders wrong, and we waited more than a hour for our food. We also had to call a waiter for the dessert menu, and then waited another 30 min before it was served.

Given the name by others who are here during the cricket test match. Upon being seated and quickly attended to the menu gave further encouragement if a good meal to come. Our part chose varying dishes of fish, prawns and calamari NONE ordered with chips. Sadly plates came with what one can only describe as poor school dinner fayre. Unless you had been told what was on the plate the sauce - actually stodge that covered each dish disguised everything. Ah - the chips - they arrived carefully placed under fish and stodge- hmmm tasty!! Not! The wine got the 2 stars. Avoid
