Lovely farm stall restaurant

Lovely stop on the way out of PE. Beautiful farm views and friendly service. Really good food and drinks. We got to have breakfast there twice as my husband dropped his wallet there the first day and they very kindly kept it safe for us to pick up the next day. Had the Mexican both times:)

I had a delicious salmon and cottage cheese with poached eggs on ciabatta breakfast after completing the Black Mamba trail with friends. The food and coffee was spectacular. The service was unfortunately not very friendly and helpful.

Wonderful find !!! Such an amazing little place pumping with people !!! Where did they come from and how did they find it ???? We found it by Chance and really are happy we sat down and ordered some food and delicious rock shandies !!!

Very disappointing. Breakfast prices are very expensive for what you get. 2 of our family ordered toasted ham, cheese and tomato. Came with no tomato. Toast was not toast but warmed up bread. Both family members only ate half their meal. Pizza not bad though. Omelet had about a tub of garlic. Luckily for me I love garlic. Won't be back.

Bad fast food quality slowly served by unhappy waiter

Bad service, but even more worse food quality. Pizza seems to come from freezer, fries are one of the worst ever tasted.

Excellent food in a scenic, beautiful country environment

Had lunch: service was friendly, service was little bit slow, but it was peak lunch hour. Made up for it by returning to ensure our drinks were kept constant, and assuring us the food was on the way. Food was served at our table, outside in a lovely environment, under tall trees with stunning views of Baviaanskloof mountain range and open farm lands. Options to sit inside also available. Plates of food arrived and was beautifully presented; a feast for the eyes, before even tasting, it looked awesome; portions were generous but did not overfill the plate. Salad and garnish on plates was excellent: colorful, flavourful and fresh from their organic garden next to their kitchen. Food was tasty: perfectly seasoned and prepared. Patagonian calamari and Thai-styled spare ribs. Succulent, tender and tasty. Very satisfying. Having said this, these two items were priced slightly more than average, (R130) but well worth the extra money. Will recommend for anyone who is hungry and has an appreciation for good food served well.

Beast pizza's and fish cakes around! Stunning setting; great waitresses. A very popular spot also for mountain bikers, runners and hikers. Shall be back!

Dissapointing

We stopped off here during the holidays for breakfast en route to East London. The food was average and the service so unfriendly and slow. Staff were very unhelpful - it was all round a disappointing experience. Such a pity as it used to be a great stop on the Garden Route and lovely freshly baked goods and high quality food but times have changed...

Very very disappointing, waited too long for below average food

We arrived at 11.30, ordered at 11.37 and got our food at 12.45!!! We ordered hake and wedges and Salad. No reason was provided as to why our food had taken so long when others around us arrived later and got food after 10 minutes !!! When our food did eventually arrive, the fish was piping hot , mine had lots of bones and very oily, and the wedges were cold ! I asked for my fish to be grilled and was told this is not possible? The waitron was friendly but in my opinion should have followed up much sooner why our food was so long in coming. The other food coming out of the kitchen actually looked good so maybe ordering the fish was a mistake. I won’t go back though, it’s quite expensive in my opinion. There are better restaurants in PE serving better food for less. The coffee was good, so if you stop for a coffee only then you’ll probably be happy.

Is it worth going to eat at Crossways Country Kitchen?

Today, our party of 7 had to wait for an hour and 30 minutes for our food. ! After about an hour and 15 min, we asked our useless waitress what the delays was. She said they were having trouble with the gas, my question to her was why she never communicated with us before we had to ask. Then the manager gave us an explanation that the deep fryer wasn't working. The waitress brought us a complimentary plate with bread and pate 3 minutes before the food eventually arrived! When the food did arrive, the orders were mixed up and some of the food didn't arrive! Really shocking service and mediocre food. I do not think its worth driving all the way out there for that sort of service.

Beautiful view, lovely coffee, average food

I love stopping here on my way to jeffreys for a bite to eat, beautiful coffee and to view some of the most beautiful views the Eastern Cape has to offer. The service was good but the food let the waiters down. Very average and it seemed like some of the flavors in the meals weren’t balanced or thought through. Beautiful little “padstal” that you can buy some home made food items.
