We happened to discover the courtyard of the Lookout Centre while strolling through the shopping area of Plettenberg Bay and the lovely ambience under a tree with the cosy outdoor area of this café. We liked it so much that we came back in the afternoon for coffee and cake and were not disappointed. It was a very relaxed atmosphere and the coffee and cake were simply excellent. So if you are looking for a relaxing place for coffee and cake in Plettenberg Bay, you will be well catered for here. (The croissants also looked great, so maybe try them for breakfast.) There is also free WiFi if you want to send a few greetings home straight away, for example. For us it was definitely a perfect place for an afternoon coffee, and the service was also courteous and very friendly.

For a 'bakery' our breakfast croissants were horrible. I couldn't finish mine it was so crusty and the cheese was bland. The garden setting is pleasant and coffee was good but that's about it. I'll think twice about going back...

A quaint little coffee shop hidden upstairs in a shopping centre on the main road of Plett. Worth mentioning since it was not obvious to us when searching for it on GPS👀 It has a fabulously French flair with the smell of freshly baked pastries hitting one’s nares on entering. The walls are adorned with beautiful photographic prints and the bookshelf has an artistic array of French food and art books. An assortment of comfortable couches and dining tables and chairs offers the choice of a lone leisurely visit or a rendezvous with a close friend/s, or like us, a family visit just looking for a good breakfast. The menu offers a good selection of delectable breakfasts (sweet or savoury), and looking at the menu, lovely lunches are served until 3pm. We almost felt like we were transported to Paris with good coffee and freshly baked pastries, adorned with sweet (Pain Perdu) or savoury (bacon and egg croissant) trimmings. I would highly recommend this fabulous French finesse of a coffee shop for breakfast or brunch!

The quality of this establishment has severely decreased since its inception. There are hardly any baked goods on the shelves anymore and what is there is lacking taste and flair. A person who I can only assume is the owner was rude and we had to wait ages to even be noticed by the staff. What has happened? We will not be returning.

We have been coming to Plett for over twenty years now and I have never had such terrible service in my life . We waited twenty minutes to even be served and then another fifteen for our coffee . I didn’t even get a saucer for my coffee cup. We waited another 30-40 min for our food and it was cold and the sausage was raw . We weren’t even offered a second cup of coffee . You need to do something!

The two of us came for breakfast, I ordered an eggs Benedict that was over cooked and tasted too much like vinegar. My partner had Norwegian croissant with trout and found pieces of ham and the white of a poached eggs that had no place being on her plate. The service was extremely slow as well. Wouldn’t recommend

Le Fournil has a lovely atmosphere, impressive menu and attentive staff. Unfortunately, however, the overall experience was somewhat diminished by a less than impressive eggs Benedict and relatively weak coffee. As someone who has spent many hours perfecting my own Hollandaise, I was surprised to find that a professional kitchen would serve up such an acidic, soup-like sauce over overdone poached eggs and a razor-thin slice of sourdough bread. In spite of this, it does appear that this establishment's strength lies in its delectable-looking baked goods, so we'll certainly be back to sample something a little more up their alley.

This was our favourite breakfast in Plett hands down. My husband had granola, croissant and eggs and toast. I had two pieces of the the almond citrus cake because it was one of the best cakes I have ever had. It was gluten-free and did not have frosting. In this lifetime I never thought I would say this. It was sublime! I would love this recipe. It was this good. I have tried 3 recipes since I returned to Canada and none come close. It will be 3 years before we go back. I wish this bakery every success and hope it is there when I go back. The croissants were excellent too. Flakey, and perfectly light tasting :) Excellent cappuccinos

Almost everything on the lunch menu has meat. There is one vegan quinoa salad. They will make substitutions but what is served has no flavour; if there is spice or anything it is reserved for meat. Good cakes and teas though. Nice courtyard setting.

Today i have been here for breakfast. There is a home made, glutenfree (but with oats) granola with yoghurt and fruit salad. I also ate the cheesecake, which has no base. Because it was so good (absolutely creamy and fudgy) i also took one slice for take away as well as a slice of the almond citrus cake and the financiers.

100% worth the visit! Fantastic coffee, almond croissant is to die for. Friendly service. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait for a table in the morning rush in summer season, it’s worth the wait.

Came across this little gem for lunch today, situated on the high street in Plett. We had a delicious sourdough sandwich which was so fresh and good quality. The owner (Janine) came out to ask if everything was ok and was interested in our travels, I’d been struggling to get a good coffee while in SA and told her, we had a flat white which was perfect, also the Almond croissant was amazing, we are certainly going back tomorrow before we leave, thankyou.

Thank you so very very much for your continued support of Our Address Shelter for homeless and street persons over the past five months. Your delicious breads and croissants carried us through many days and nights. On a personal note. Your Almond Croissants and the Firenze remains my all time favourites since youve started making them. May your blessing to so many homeless and street persons translate into many blessings coming your way. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Love The Family

We visited Le Fournil on a rainy day and it was very worthwile. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the service was excellent. I ordered a chocochino and a pain au Chocolat with almonds and both were absolutely exceptional. Highly recommend.

We've had breakfast at this wonderful restaurant several times and it never disappoints. The food is delicious, we love the coffee here, and since it's also a bakery, the pastries are not to be missed. The almond croissants are amazing! The owners and staff are always welcoming and friendly. They have a lovely patio out back, however you can sit indoors in a nice setting. or on the balcony out front. We plan on eating there on our next trip to Plettenberg Bay. it's a great place to relax
