About
SeaFood at The Plettenberg combines an array of elements to create an unsurpassed dining experience. The sand, beach and sea have been brought into the restaurant in the colours, mood and design. Unrivalled views of the breath-taking Formosa Bay are complimented by the decor, and together they create the perfect platform for the SeaFood cuisine. Here the chefs create modern South African fare that is seasonally influenced. The menu - designed by The Collection's award-winning Executive Chef Peter Tempelhoff and his team - places great emphasis on fresh produce from local green-friendly suppliers and this gives SeaFood at The Plettenberg the unique ability to showcase a true taste of the bay.

I don't know what I preferred the most, the view or the food! They were both amazing, and I'll certainly be back to try the High Tea. My partner and I were blown away by the experience, oh, and the food was great as well

A magical setting but the initial service and then the food were well below par, my mom who’s birthday it was mailed and booked weeks in advance to say it was her 80th so you would think they would do something slightly special or made...sure they had the dishes available on the very concise menu, as a family we have dined there past, have had our German family stay there and have had first class meals, but maybe since Mr McGrath passing mediocrity has crept in, there are some exceptional restaurants in plett so the Plettenberg shouldn’t dine out on its position aloneMore

Best, best exclusive & breathtaking location. I kept it simple - had the hake - deep fried... A must!! Best mushed peas I’ve ever had in SA... The garden salad was delicious - made & presented with great care & layers of tastes. And the...service from Honest was kind, highly efficient and super attentive.More

They have a special Sunday lunch roast that they are promoting until the end of October. Roast beef and all the trimmings. So we ordered our lunch and were asked how we like our roast beef cooked. This was noted and we awaited our lunch....It duly arrived, beautifully presented. But, the “ roast beef” turned out to be 4 little minute steaks cooked to order? Not roast beef by any imagination. To add to this, we overheard guests at the next table requesting their meat to be “ medium rare “. The reply from the waiter was that all the meat is partially pre- cooked and that their preferred choice was not possible as it was already cooked beyond that stage. I am amazed that a restaurant of this calibre can stoop so low when offering a so called Sunday “ roast”. Its not a roast.More

We were staying at the hotel and decided to eat in. The name Seafood it misleading as the menu is very varied. We had a gin and tonic before the meal with a selection of nibbles. We then had a starter and main course (the...Malay chicken curry) but were defeated by the quantity. Nice sorbet between courses but altogether too much. We ate out the other nights. All excellent quality but make sure you are really hungry before you start!More

We were persuaded by neighbours during our holiday in Plettenberg Bay to dine at SeaFood at The Plettenberg - despite their pricey menu. Unfortunately the experience left a lot to be desired. To start with, they could not find our booking - despite sending me...an email and sms confirmation. The waiter that served us appeared injured and spent very little time tending to her tables in the dining area. Services was extremely slow (it took 45 minutes to serve desert after ordering and a further 30 minutes to provide us with the bill). My last gripe was the absence of disabled toilets. Whilst most of the food was pretty decent (with the exception of the horrible sauce on the linefish - we were warned by the waiter that it was bad, but it truly destroyed the dish), the experience as a whole was not great. There are many eateries in Plettenberg Bay that provide great food and service for much less.More

We wanted line fish and Cathy went the extra mile to ensure that they would go and buy a baby kob for us at the local fish shop! When we got there Aldo and Martha ensured that our every whim was attended too! The starter...soup was as good as our grilled kob and the experience was tops and professional! Many thanks all roundMore

Apart from wanting to try the restaurant we also wanted to get an impression of the hotel, which is in demand, despite its rather steep prices. The location is very attractive for views but space is limited for tables on the terrace. We reserved rather...late so our table was inside. We were glad as it was a rather chilly evening. The dining room is smart and the serving staff very pleasant and efficient. The biggest surprise was that the menu prices were more reasonable than I expected for this class of hotel. We had one gazpacho and one salad as starters - very good. Our mains of a grilled prawns and a Malaysian seafood curry were both excellent. To finish we had a lovely sorbet and a very light (thankfully) eton mess. Really enjoyed our meal and some insight into the hotel itself.More

First of all i should say that the food was very good. The place is nice and all but the attention was pretty bad. First of all nobody received us so we sat by ourselves on the beautiful terrace to see the sunset, they took...about 10 minutes to bring the menus and 10 minutes later no orders were taken.. and it started raining (no problem with that). We went inside to order our drink and nobody told us where we could seat. We told the waitress that we wont be taking drinks pre dinner so we could go straight to our final location... they didnt knew about pre made reservation. This also wasnt a problem because the place was less than half full. Long story short, we ordered 2 rounds of drinks, each of those took forever to arrive, the second round arrived when we had finished our meal. The waitress couldnt answer any questions about drinks or menu and even the manager loudly called the attention to the waitress while she was taking our orders. When we got the receipt, we were surprise that the gin and tonics considered charging twice the price of the gin (“because they use 2 shots”). It was not a lot of money but we werent informed. This is not what you expect of a 5 star hotel.More

since my last review the restaurant has slid down another few notches, beside the restaurant being pretty empty ,no surprise.the decor is clinical, the room stuffy ,service really not up to standard ,and the food which took a long time to appear mediocre.sad to see...what was a good venue slide as it has .not a place to enjoy a good meal.More
