Apart from wanting to try the restaurant we also wanted to get an impression of the hotel, which is in demand, despite its rather steep prices. The location is very attractive for views but space is limited for tables on the terrace. We reserved rather late so our table was inside. We were glad as it was a rather chilly evening. The dining room is smart and the serving staff very pleasant and efficient. The biggest surprise was that the menu prices were more reasonable than I expected for this class of hotel.
We had one gazpacho and one salad as starters - very good. Our mains of a grilled prawns and a Malaysian seafood curry were both excellent. To finish we had a lovely sorbet and a very light (thankfully) eton mess. Really enjoyed our meal and some insight into the hotel itself.

Best, best exclusive & breathtaking location. I kept it simple - had the hake - deep fried... A must!! Best mushed peas I’ve ever had in SA... The garden salad was delicious - made & presented with great care & layers of tastes. And the service from Honest was kind, highly efficient and super attentive.

We were staying at the hotel and decided to eat in. The name Seafood it misleading as the menu is very varied. We had a gin and tonic before the meal with a selection of nibbles. We then had a starter and main course (the Malay chicken curry) but were defeated by the quantity. Nice sorbet between courses but altogether too much. We ate out the other nights. All excellent quality but make sure you are really hungry before you start!

We were persuaded by neighbours during our holiday in Plettenberg Bay to dine at SeaFood at The Plettenberg - despite their pricey menu.
Unfortunately the experience left a lot to be desired. To start with, they could not find our booking - despite sending me an email and sms confirmation.
The waiter that served us appeared injured and spent very little time tending to her tables in the dining area.
Services was extremely slow (it took 45 minutes to serve desert after ordering and a further 30 minutes to provide us with the bill).
My last gripe was the absence of disabled toilets.
Whilst most of the food was pretty decent (with the exception of the horrible sauce on the linefish - we were warned by the waiter that it was bad, but it truly destroyed the dish), the experience as a whole was not great.
There are many eateries in Plettenberg Bay that provide great food and service for much less.

First of all i should say that the food was very good. The place is nice and all but the attention was pretty bad. First of all nobody received us so we sat by ourselves on the beautiful terrace to see the sunset, they took about 10 minutes to bring the menus and 10 minutes later no orders were taken.. and it started raining (no problem with that). We went inside to order our drink and nobody told us where we could seat. We told the waitress that we wont be taking drinks pre dinner so we could go straight to our final location... they didnt knew about pre made reservation. This also wasnt a problem because the place was less than half full.
Long story short, we ordered 2 rounds of drinks, each of those took forever to arrive, the second round arrived when we had finished our meal.
The waitress couldnt answer any questions about drinks or menu and even the manager loudly called the attention to the waitress while she was taking our orders.
When we got the receipt, we were surprise that the gin and tonics considered charging twice the price of the gin (“because they use 2 shots”). It was not a lot of money but we werent informed.
This is not what you expect of a 5 star hotel.

They have a special Sunday lunch roast that they are promoting until the end of October. Roast beef and all the trimmings.
So we ordered our lunch and were asked how we like our roast beef cooked. This was noted and we awaited our lunch.
It duly arrived, beautifully presented. But, the “ roast beef” turned out to be 4 little minute steaks cooked to order? Not roast beef by any imagination.
To add to this, we overheard guests at the next table requesting their meat to be “ medium rare “. The reply from the waiter was that all the meat is partially pre- cooked and that their preferred choice was not possible as it was already cooked beyond that stage.
I am amazed that a restaurant of this calibre can stoop so low when offering a so called Sunday “ roast”. Its not a roast.

We were looking forward to our first visit to this restaurant. Warm greeting and friendly and attentive staff. That is where it ended. I ordered lamb which was unappetizing and had an odd taste. Partner ordered chicken which was dry and tasteless. The response from the chef after he tasted it was that there’s nothing wrong with it and offered us a small plate of petit fours to replace our meal. Definitely the worst meal we had on this holiday.

With so many trips to Plett, we always visit the Plettenberg Hotel. The view is stunning.
We recently had a dinner reservation and we were not disappointed. The Norwegian Salmon was cooked to perfection,the Kingclip was also amazing.. Great service and priced very reasonable.
This meal in Canada would have cost $200.00 can., compared to 1000 Rand (86.00 Can).

We do enjoy a good plate of food way too much and this was more than that.
Food was perfect. Very tasty and plating is really good.
I suggest making sure you are very hungry, because all 3 course is a must. But if you aren’t able to do three, make sure to check out the puddings.
Also recommend their high tea.
Other than the food the personal is friendly and very professional.

A lovely spring evening. We haven’t been to The Plettenberg for years and our dinner was an even better experience than we remembered . Drinks on the terrace complete with fluffy blankets to manage the early evening chill followed by our dinner being served, still with a beautiful view of the bay , in the gorgeous restaurant . Bulelwa took very good care of us and prices were very reasonable . Pity it was so quiet - we hope it will soon pick up. We will definitely visit again when next in Plett.

We had a great meal, friendly and efficient service and really good food.
I’d say only thing that I didn’t enjoy was the pressure put on us to buy from traders at the entrance to the restaurant. Felt like we couldn’t say no.

We have eaten at Seafood previously but this visit we just sat on their outside area and enjoyed cocktails.
The deck is beautiful and you overlook their affinity pool, just feels so relaxing.
Service is excellent and staff are well trained.

Unique view, solid menu, good wi es. Very good service, we arrived early and were able to get a table at the edge of the terrace overrlooking the spectacular bay. Food was good, not overly creative but good.
