Had dinner here recently whilst staying in Plett. Very impressed! Beautiful fresh food at a good price. Lovely salads to start. We had tuna as a main and it was excellent. Service was excellent and the whole place had a lovely relaxed seaside vibe.

This is a competent restaurant in the centre of Plettenberg. Everything was competent and the food well above average. We were inside and the surroundings were 'nice'. The problem is that for us there's nothing exciting or unusual about Nguni. The owner? was in evidence and seemed to be ensuring that everything went smoothly, which it did. The kitchen turned... Perfect experience! The service was awesome and the design of the restaurant also offered some nice details. The food was really really delicious. We had the ostrich filet (a dream of a steak, grilled to the point) and a salad. As a starter we got some fresh bread which was baked in a small flower pot. All in all we... More

menu is rather limited. Empty apart from us. Gazpacho was delicious as were the well hung tender fillet steaks. Rare mine wasn't. Large selection of wine from the area, Cape Winelands and abroad. Service was slow between courses and the arrival of the bill even slower. Expensive by local standards but not by UK and European ones.

Given the peak period, the restaurant was booked by our guest house - we were very pleased with their choice - nice atmosphere, good service and excellent African food - very tasty. A most enjoyable evening.

We enjoyed a really good meal at Nguni. We all had seafood main courses that were well prepared and delicious. Lovely, simple decor in an authentic and intimate space. We really enjoyed it and will certainly go again.

A tremendous Birthday Supper for my Wife and I on December 12th. (Uhuru day, for those with Kenyan connections!) The ambience very pleasant, inclusive yet private, cozy. The food, in our case Springbok loin, wonderful, cooked to perfection, beautifully presented, of more than ample portion, and generally top notch. The service excellent, made you feel extremely welcomed. One of our... More

This restaurant appears to have previously been a home (or may still be in part?!?) menu generally exciting service good and quick and wine list good. Prices a little high when compared to portions but quality excellent!

This was booked for us by our hotel as we wanted to try some African food. On arriving out taxi driver advised that the restaurant would call him when we were ready to leave. The springbok was delicious and the service at the table was impeccable. However, once we had paid our bill and asked about our taxi back the... More

Thank you for your review - we are pleased that you enjoyed your meal with us! The taxi services run independently and are in no way associated with the restaurant. Due to the volume of people in Plett in peak holiday season - there can be delays and I believe that on this evening we phoned the service twice -... More

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious dinner at Nguni. It's an old fishermans cottage with thick walls and charming architecture. My entree of kingklip fish with local tomatoes and pomegranates was the winner of the evening! We'll be back.

Description
Nguni Restaurant
Nostalgic with an African flair, Nguni is located in one of Plett's oldest buildings - an original dairy dating back over a hundred years. Nguni's African menu is a reflection of traditional selections like Bobotie, game, biltong, springbok, Karoo lamb, ostrich and other local favourites. With its beautiful sunny veranda or eclectic African interior with its original wood-burning stove, the Nguni Girls provide customers with a unique setting and superb menu. A true taste of the Cape!
