After a long absence, this was our 2nd visit to Nguni, because of great reviews. It appears that the restaurant is geared for tourists. We were the only SA patrons in the restaurant. All in all.......the service was good, the menu offers a bit of...More

Recommended by our hotel, this old fisherman's cottage is tucked away off the main strip. You wouldn't stumble on it. Booking needed as it's not huge, although in warm weather the outside tables would more than double capacity. The menu focuses on South African cuisine....More

For our last night in Plett we ate at Nguni. The reviews both online and with local people were really good. We dined early at 18:15 and it was already half full at that point. It is in an old fishermans cottage with solid stone...More

We had booked online and received a confirmation from the restaurant, on arriving we were told that it could not be possible as no one had been in the restaurant to reply. When I showed the owner the email he seemed surprised and said he...More

not quite 5 of 5 because the food didn't seem refined or sophisticated, which we expected given the prices (relatively high for Plett and South Africa) and the atmosphere. The food was very decent, though. Full of flavor and good portions.

Managed to get in to this place for dinner one night. They couldn't find our reservation but still made room for us. The ostrich fillet was the best meal I've had in South Africa. Service was fantastic. Wine list was extensive. Vibe was upscale. Overall...More

Had dinner at Nguni while staying in Plettenberg and enjoyed it so much we went back the following week. Really enjoyed the Bobotie Spring Rolls and the Springbok Loin was amazing. Will definitely be back.

Description
Nguni Restaurant Nostalgic with an African flair, Nguni is located in one of Plett's oldest buildings - an original dairy dating back over a hundred years. Nguni's African menu is a reflection of traditional selections like Bobotie, game, biltong, springbok, Karoo lamb, ostrich and other local favourites. With its beautiful sunny veranda or eclectic African interior with its original wood-burning stove, the Nguni Girls provide customers with a unique setting and superb menu. A true taste of the Cape!
