We had dinner at Nineteen89 twice during our nine day stay in Plettenberg Bay after New Year. The service is friendly and we were surprised with how fast our drinks and food arrived. We had the exact same order both evenings - we shared the...Tempura Prawns: Tempura prawns, i.e. prawns in a flavoured tempura batter Sole and calamari with side salad (included) Tuna salad bowl My husband's side salad included sugar snap peas, edamame beans, baby tomatoes and cucumber ribbons. My tuna salad bowl was such a generous portion that I only managed to finish it the next day for lunch. The restaurant is expensive but the food is excellent. They use top quality ingredients and the servings are generous. This is the only restaurant we visited twice. Congratulations to the owners and their team!More

I don't usually leave reviews but this place left a very bad impression. We booked a table for my girlfriend's Mum's birthday and turned up at the booked time. We then had to wait 20+ minutes for someone to take our drinks order when it...wasn't particularly busy. Our food also took a long time to come but these are minor issues compared to the real shock. My girlfriend ordered a fillet steak medium to well done. She is the type that will happily eat steak that I would consider burnt but the steak that arrived was overcooked and inedible even for her. There was the TINIEST - I mean magnifying glass required - amount of pink and it was dry as bone. She reluctantly called the waiter over and asked for it to be redone but said she didn't need new sides as she doesn't like causing issues. The OWNER came over to our table and argued with us about the cook of the steak. She treated my girlfriend extremely rudely as if she was a child saying things like "We know how to cook our meat" and "if we think we can do better we can come cook our own meat" then actually snatched the plate and stormed off mid sentence. This was when we had the driest lamb shank that we hadn't said anything about and generally not good food. I would consider giving 2 stars because my salmon and beef carpaccio were -decent- but for the price there are much better options in the area and this service was ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING. We decided not to get dessert and will not be going back. I would avoid if you want good service.More

The restaurant is very busy on Friday afternoon, but didn't wait too long for the food. The service was good. The calamari & sole was well plated and tasty. My Dad loves the burger as well.

Don’t try to eat here between breakfast and lunch, they don’t allow any orders or give out menu’s until “they are ready”. This is in full season 🤷🏻‍♂️ Terrible manager and service

Had a great meal(Cajun calamari). Waiter was so polite and all the staff are so efficient. Great place to have a beer and a meal on a hot day 10/10

It was our 1st time at this restaurant, but it is not your everyday restaurant as it can get pricey, but worth the experience.

Well situated in the heart of Plett, this is a well balanced family-come-cocktail bar restaurant. On entry, one is struck by the amply-stocked and well-lit bar. The menu is well balanced with a variety of burgers, grills and seafood. I thought the burgers were the...tastiest and most value for money items on the menu, with their very tasty jalapeño and cheese sauces being the flavours of the day. My sesame-crusted tuna salad was beautifully presented, but sadly lacked the melt-in-the-mouth freshness. The peri-peri chicken livers lacked salt, and was more tomatoey than peri peri. Good atmosphere with great service, however the food was a tad bit underwhelming.More

Amazing dinner experience. The Surfboard platter is out of this world and by far the best value for money I have had in many years. Friendly staff and great service! Coming back for the Prego Roll

Very good service with a beautiful view and a fun vibe, but the food was out of this world!! Each item we ordered on the menu was delicious and wonderfully plated. A must to experience when in Plet 😁
