Fantastic food

I had a meeting at BI, so went early for lunch. I ordered the Tuna Salad, and was pleasantly surprised. It was a deconstructed Salad Nicoise, with (tinned) tuna, boiled egg, onions, green beans, onions tomato, lettuce, green and red pepper and a bowl of sauce. Oh, and lovely black olives. I paid cash, and the waitress did not bring me my change! She assumed I was leaving a tip, which I would have done if she had brought the change. For that reason, only 4* and not 5*

Drinks on the Patio

We broke our journey here for mid-day drinks with the superb view down to the beach. The Island Diner is in the wonderfully-situated Beacon Island Hotel, and we were lucky enough to grab one of the patio tables. The Barrington's local beer is very good, similarly the Sauvignon Blanc. Good service, although a wee bit pricey.

Food was good and service

Food was good and service too. With such a view, it is difficult not the like the diner. The atmosphere is relaxed and we love going for a quick bite.

The food has got seriously poor!

If you like basic boarding school food with nothing fresh this is it! The staff try very hard and are very friendly. The food used to be simple but well presented and the selection was good. This trip we got photostatted menus, nothing fresh ie veggies and not well prepared. they even managed to mess up a pizza!!! We tried two breakfasts here and gave up. Go into town for all your meals there are quite a few great places to eat. It seems as though management don't want to listen because i chatted to them last year and it has got worse. I love the hotel but won't be eating here till they get it right. It is actually quite simple to correct it.

I have been coming to BI since before the current hotel opened in 1972 and have been a regular visitor (often twice a year) since then. I have had very few meals in the Island Diner. Thank goodness! Tonight my wife had nachos which was ice cold and covered with plastic cheese. My toasted egg and bacon sandwich could not have been worse. Ice cold soggy toast and bacon and congealed eggs. O/5 - nevet again!

Worth a visit

Lovely, open, spacious diner that spills out onto the patio. The views are superb, the food great. Even just for coffee or a drink. Parking is a little way off, with a walk uphill to the entrance to the hotel.

Good, down to earth food

Spending a week at Beacon Isle the Island Diner becomes a friend, because of the quality of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nothing fancy, but good wholesome food from bread to the best of steaks!

We have timeshare at the BI. Were last there 2 years ago. Previously we had good meals but this time we were very disappointed. Service was very very slow. Too many staff but no service. More interested in chatting with each other than serving. Has also become too expensive.

Beautiful setting, great food

We had a very pleasant meal there. Service was a bit slow but when the food arrived it was worth the wait. We asked to have desert in another area with a beautiful view. Very accommodating

Hair in the food

Had breakfast , had hair in 2 plates of food. Highly disgusted. Staff apologized and did not charge for the food, all though we did not eat it and returned the food.

We have been coming to the Beacon Isle for 40 years regularly. The food at Island Diner was very good a couple of years back - then the prices went up and the quality down. We had room service in our suite this time - the Alfredo pasta was tastless and watery, the Putenesca was cold and our sushi fell apart and was mainly rice...very little salmon. Come on Beacon Isle - you have a captive market as far as your guests go. You’ll have to improve the quality of your in house dining. Ice cream and cakes at lunch time Sunday were sold out?

Island diner reveiw

I have been coming to beacon isle for 40 years. This is the worst I have ever seen this restaurant consistently bad food. Toast not toasted properly, inedible salads, salad dressing that's tastes like off oil. A simple spaghetti bolognese they cannot get right. I have reported to management. It falls on dead ears. I hope beacon Isla d listens to its visitors and gets rid of island diner.

Breakfast with a view

The Island Diner's main attraction is the view of the beach and ocean. The breakfast menu is extensive and the portions are hearty! The staff spend a lot of time chatting among themselves while customers are waiting for service though.

Restaurant is situated across the reception of Beacon Island resort. View over ocean & Plett is spectacular. Sunset’s from restaurant is spectacular. Vibe is incredible and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We had the Monday special ... Seafood platter for 2. Food was prepared perfectly, rather big portion for the price. Well worth the visit for Breakfast, Lunch or dinner. You won’t be disappointed..
