Lovely courtyard eating space with a lively atmosphere. Good choice of cafe/pub type food. Attentive serving staff. Flatbread with dips were delicious as was the salad.

This place had a nice feel as you entered the courtyard. Met by a welcoming smiling trainee server. Really enjoyed the Golden Mole IPA whilst my wife enjoyed the Chardonnay. I had the Major which had plenty of bacon, avo and smoked brie topping whilst...my wife had the Private which provided a nice variation on a plain Margherita. Loved the thin base. Having tasted both, mine was the better pizza but both very good. Overall, service was very good and cost very reasonable for an enjoyable mealMore

It is hugely relaxing to sit outside and idly listen to the birds and the chatter of nearby tables while sipping on a craft gin or beer. The drinks were cold and the recommendation of the waitress was on point. We enjoyed a pizza each...and the rustic feel of it was awesome, and the taste delicious. However, despite it being mid afternoon and only a few tables occupied, it was incredibly slow. This did not phase us as we had plenty of time to shoot the breeze, but I would have been hugely frustrated if I had time constraints. As such, I recommend Major Fraser's for a lazy afternoon meal, but certainly not a quick pop in.More

Major Fraser’s offers gourmet pizzas with a thin crust and interesting toppings as well as a range of craft beers and other drinks, including local Featherstone ales. It has a mix of indoor and open-air courtyard space and has an informal feel. Aside from pizzas...it has light meals and platters with a good range of vegetarian options. The light meals are on the pricy side for the size; pizza is a little more expensive than average reflecting the “gourmet” style (as opposed to pizzeria or pub meal). it is a very convenient location for the nearby university though priced a bit above student budgets.More

We enjoyed popping in for a glass of wine and a snack. We weren't that impressed with their pizzas though. Lovely atmosphere.

We visited Grahamstown for the National Arts Festival. Lots of events, needed to grab and go. We ate here twice, a delicious pizza and, secondly, the wonderful wood fire roasted tomato soup and cheese toastie. What a treat, both awesome and, a delicious draft IPA...to wash both down. Worthy of your consideration!More

Thanks for great review! We have recently added a canvas roof structure to make our outdoor seating a bit warmer on the chilly evenings. We hope to see you at Major Fraser’s again soon.

An awesome place hidden away in Grahamstown, we thoroughly enjoyed the good service and the pizzas and burgers are highly recommended. The chips are great and have a “rustic” feel to them.
