The menu is incredible, the wine list is fabulous, and the staff are so friendly. I had a wonderful dinner with friends and we felt so looked after. The restaurant is more than willing to make any vegetarian dish vegan and they were so knowledgable about all their dishes and wines. Definitely recommend this restaurant for its great atmosphere, service, and food!

Sanook restaurant is certainly one of the best in East London. The application of strict Covid protocols when we entered; the ambiance of the small restaurant; the friendly atmosphere and the professionalism displayed by the manager and the staff made us feel that we made an excellent choice. The preparation of the food especially the pizzas which is done in front of our eyes, made it worthwhile for the slightly long wait (it seems that the Sanook pizza is a favorite of many). The pizza was out of this world, very delicious. This is definitely in the top list of my favorite eat out places in East London.

We took the kids for their first "big people" restaurant experience. Sanook did not disappoint. The kiddies menu is very reasonable and the kiddie meals are as delicious and good as the big menu!
New to the menu is the Harvest pizza for vegans! What a delight! Healthy fresh ingredients, on a thin base!

We visited Sanook for dinner this past weekend. As usual, the atmosphere was warm and friendly. The staff were top notch, attentive & well informed. So it seems the new ownership has changed over seamlessly. Well done for that!
I ordered a FAB pizza (Feta, avo, bacon) with Spinach added. It was beyond delish!! 😜
In fact, we all had a wonderful evening. 5 stars🌟 But! They need air-conditioning. We couldn't sit outside as it was drizzling. This is one of EL's top restaurants, but it's just too stuffy and hot inside. And we're not even in February or March yet. Hopefully these guys will make a plan soon. ♨️

Sanook’s secret weapon is its faultless atmosphere. The service staff are self assured, efficient and make excellent recommendations. Although I am not vegetarian myself, menu items like the Veggie Pizza are practically an obligatory order at this point - it’s just that good. If you’re looking for a reliable option that isn’t arrogant or pompous (you can wear jeans) then Sanook is what you’re looking for.
The Beacon Bay branch is more or less the same but it feels far more commodified and commercial while being less intimate. Stick to Berea.

It is always beautiful to be welcomed into Sanook even when I did not call for reservation after being disappointed by another restaurant. I was welcomed with my friends and we had the most enjoyable meals, fresh from the fire. They have the most vibrant environment for a quick meal or stay longer meal. Thank you for keeping your good customers care tradition.

Visit East London once a month and for the last couple of years have only eaten at Sanook. Service good ambience great and quality of food good.
However, the menu has not changed for a long time and I believe all excellent restaurants need to innovate their menus.
Sanook - Time for some changes on your menu, am sure you have great ideas, please implement them.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed breakfast at Sanook as we were passing through East London. The food was cooked to perfection, the service was extraordinary. The manager was very accommodating and understanding towards our requests. I would highly recommend Sanook Cafe for a great food experience.

Awesome find, I would advise that you make a booking , we didn’t but they squeezed us in.
Food and service was excellent, even though the restaurant was full and they were battling with load shedding, we went back the next day for round two, couldn’t fault it again.
Best veggie burger I have had in a restaurant.

We arrived at Sanook restaurant after 10 hours on the road from Jhb and no reservation. Despite the restaurant being full, we were still accommodated and offered a table. We enjoyed some craft beer, great service and fantastic food. In hind sight, one of our top 3 meals for the holiday. Will definitely recommend that you do not miss this restaurant when you visit East London.

Went to Sanook on a few occasions in the past. My last visit to celebrate my grand daughter's birthday. No complaints around the table at all. On the recommendation of a friend I tried the "Made in Japan" pizza. By far the best pizza iv'e ever had. What an awesome pizza, my only regret is not sharing a photo with the readers. Try it you won't be disappointed.

Sanook has to be a must go stop in East London. The fact that is is full, gives a clear indication. Packed restaurant with very efficient staff and an extensive menu to cater for all tastes. Whats best, well, I have to get back to sample the complete the menu. it all looked good and the waiters suggestions were excellent, then if you have space, go for a desert as well. Highly recommended

Excellent service (with a smile) and the best thinnest crispy based pizza we have ever had. Sadly only in east London for one night or we would have gone back. The young chap that served us was brilliant.

Family visit to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The food was as always amazing! Burgers look and taste amazing! We didn't make a fuss and just mentioned in passing that it's her birthday. They surprised my little 9 year old with candles and a big dessert for the family to share! Great way to treat regular customers! Well done Sanook!

The best place to eat in East London. Went there 4 out of our 5 nights we stayed in East London. Unbelievable waiters, magnificent food and all round 10/10 experience. Had Hoke Poke bowl twice delicious, amazing burger one time and the sticky pork bowl. All delicious!!! PS also went to the other Sanook too-lovely. Highly recommend this restaurant.
