I visited yesterday at lunch time with my daughter and had a wonderful experience!
We had the garlic prawn starter, muscles special, chicken prego and ice cream for dessert. All of the food was cooked, spiced and flavored to perfection.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is wonderful and authentic, and our host had fantastic manners and a great attitude. Our chef also came to check that we enjoyed the food and is a very friendly guy.
Perfect lunch time spot and will definitely return again soon! We will actually be there tomorrow for Father's Day.

Having Portuguese family means we crave the taste of authentic Portuguese food. So we were very excited to give Brazas a try and I am so glad we did. The food is sensational, from wholseome prawn curry with just the right amount of spice to the iconic espetada and perfectly tender calamari. Every dish passing our table made us swallow and want to order more. The restaurant is intimate and cosy and can definitely boast about their friendly and helpful waitrons as well as offering its diners the pleasure of watching Chef Jean Michel and his incredible team cook, plate and perfect every item coming off the pass. I will definitely be returning soon to get myself a prego roll, prawns and some more calamari!

We Love Portuguese ❤️ Pedro and his son, the staff ticked all the boxes. We started with prawn rissoles followed by grilled queen prawns. The rissoles were divine just as they should be. The prawns took me back to the original Adega in Kensington thirty years ago. Crunchy and sweet including the roe you can eat the shells or just suck the sweetness. We had Casal Garcia as our wine.
Please don't tell too many folk as it may become too busy to get in...

White table cloths, freshly baked bread rolls, great wine and service! Prawn pasta is excellent, as are the starter mussels. Must-visit if having dinner in East London.

The only retaurant in East London that offers fine cuisine, a very good wine list and a good service. My 3rd time in this restaurant is definitely not the last one.

If you love proper Mozambique Peri peri chicken, then look bo further than this spot. Massively impressed. House made Peri peri sauce options speak volumes to the ethos of this fine restaurant. Will definitely return when back in EL.

Pedro suggested that we try the octopus portugese style "Polvo a Lagareiro"?, grilled tentacles, baby potatoes, peppers and onions...What a dish! Can't wait for the Cape St. Francis calamari to appear.

The first time visiting Brazas, it was in April - it may even have been their opening week. I went with my boyfriend and we were SO impressed from the moment we walked in!
We were greeted with warm welcomes from their front desk and our hostess. This is always a big win in my books!
We were seated inside near the door to the deck, and I was SO pleased with the amazing atmosphere they had invested in creating for us patrons. Gorgeous art, attention to detail, creating what feels like an authentic Portuguese decor experience.
Another highlight upon first entry was that epic open kitchen! Seeing the food being created and hearing the staff work really adds to the atmosphere and makes you feel involved in the whole process of eating. Not only eating, but entertainment too haha!
My partner ordered the trinchado starter, and myself the grilled sardines. Both were AMAZING and we were impressed already. But then.... We both got queen prawn mains and this 👏🏻 knocked 👏🏻 it 👏🏻 out 👏🏻 the 👏🏻 park! We were pretty much in heaven. The prawns were a generous size, and the sauce and spicing was right into the meat. The rice was soft and flavourful and perfect.
Chef Jean came to check on us and my boyfriend told him right there that this was his new favourite restaurant and food. I have to agree! Our first time experience was so fabulous that we booked again to take my boyfriends mom there for mother's day.
Once again, our Mother's Day experience was so memorable! We were seated at the table right by the kitchen where we could watch their team in action right up close. Mom was having the BEST time seeing the action and so were we!
We shared 3 starters; the trinchado, the calamari and garlic prawns. We thoroughly enjoyed all 3 and mom couldn't stop talking about how great everything was. For mains, again, all 3 of us ordered the queen prawn mains and once again, it was a total and complete hit! Perfect!
We won a bottle of wine, which really rounded off the experience to be the perfect evening out enjoying chats, great food and lovely wine. We also highly recommend the Portrugese beer we had! 🍻 Mom didn't stop talking about how she enjoyed her evening to her friends and we were so happy to have had this great memory with her there.
Side note: We had dessert for both visits, different every time, and we all LOVED each and every item! Don't g9rgte to try the dessert!
All in all, we can definitely say this is our favourite spot for good food and drinks and atmosphere. We really appreciate their keen attention to detail in every aspect of the business. Their kind, courteous and attentive team are also a major highlight here.
That being said, we are booked to go again this Sunday to treat both my mom and my dad for Father's Day. We are so so excited to share this spot with them and know it will be fantastic. Can't wait! 😁
