I went to Taberna Iberica with my wife for dinner. No special celebration, simply a dinner without the kids.... It is a nice restaurant for changing a bit the menu that in Florianópolis is still dominated by pizza, hamburgers and Japanese food.
The reception was...a bit strange since they made us wait a few minutes for a table on an empty restaurant. We got a table in the second row away from the window in the main floor.
The service in general was good, but sometimes "dry". The environment is also OK, but I wouldn't say it is a cosy or romantic place. The music was good, not too loud. The place was not noisy until two guys seated on a table nearby and started "screaming" at each other and laughing loudly. Suddenly all clients in all tables were talking very loud as well and it was clear that the acoustic in the place is not too good. The view from the main floor is nice, but it is a pity that the constructions around do not allow a full range view.
The menu offers a good variety that will serve even a group with diverse tastes, which is very good. There were only two options of salads and not very attractive, though. The options of dessert were also good and at affordable prices, what is unusual in local restaurants. Although the main dishes from the house are the ones prepared with bacalhau (codfish), we ordered meat, Bitoque à Portuguesa. The dishes were well served and well prepared, the sauce a bit too salty. The options for drinks are very good. We had juice that night, however, which was very good. For dessert we ordered Pastel de Belém, which was very good as well. Although we were not with the children, I looked at the menu and they have a dish for "kids". However, it did not look a place to go with children.
The prices were in general compatible with the service and what we ordered. I would go there again.More
We walked to this restaurant from our hotel (Sofitel) and had a little bit of trouble finding the place. We were hoping to sit in the main dining room to get a view of the bridge but since we didn't have reservation, we were put...in the front area of the restaurant with no view of the bridge. We ordered the seafood stew and since I'd never had the Portuguese dried & salted cod, decided to do the Bacalhau feast which came with 5-6 different bacalhau dishes. The stew was very good, and we only enjoyed 1-2 bacalhau dishes, found some of them really salty just on their own. Got a glass of a good red wine to wash down some of the saltiness.More
I have eaten cod many times and in many different places, but hands down this was the best cod lagareiro I've ever eaten. Casual place and outstanding food!
O melhor bacalhau lagareiro que ja comi! Nao perca a oportunidade de ir nesse restaurante se voce...gosta de bacalhau. Ambiente relaxado e comida excelente!More
Most of the restaurant overlooks the (currently semi-defunct) suspension bridge, and serves traditional Portuguese food. We had a tasty crab + shrimp starter, and shared a large main course of grilled cod, onions, peppers, and potatoes that was very nicely done. They're not shy about...using olive oil and salt. We also enjoyed the pastel de Belem (served hot; I think the one I had in Belem was at room temperature). The waiter was friendly, efficient, and spoke more than enough English. Note that the room we were in was warm in August and it might be hotter in the summer.More
Wonderful experience!!! The tip is to go on Fridays because the serve a sequence of "bacalhau" (5 types) - the salad and homemade are champions - good wine and very kind environment. Make sure if make reservations otherwise you will count on luck to get...a table (like me) ;-)!!!More
Good food, good service, good ambiance, good wine. What else do you need? I didn't had to ask for an english menu, when they recognize that I was not Brazilian they offer me the English menu immediately. The waitress speaks English very well and answer...all my questions. Don't miss this restaurantMore
I eat the 'folhado de salmao com camarões ao molho de nata'. The dish was very, very tasteful. I'd recommend to all my friends. The restaurant is tiny, but very comfortable and with a nice view of Hercilio Luz bridge. The dishes are not cheap,...however it worth every penny.More
