We were staying in "Aquarela Do Leme" and decided to try a restaurant up the hill in the Favela recommended by the hostel owners and were not disappointed! The outdoor atmosphere and the excellent cuisine brought me back to Colombia and the wonderful food there!...Do check it out!More

People usually fear going in those neighborhood, but I never felt any danger. It is not that easy to find but everyone know the place and will help you fining your way. Once there the view is amazing looking the Corcovado and Copacabana. The food...is tasty and not spicy. People are nice. Come and have the sunset there and you will have the most romantic situation.More

While finding its location may pose slightly challenging, the locals are more than helpful in pointing wanderers in the right direction. We didn’t speak the language or have a clue where we were headed, just that we read it was the place for amazing authentic...food and let me tell you- that was an understatement. We had several luxury meals on our stay and the flavor and environment we experienced here far surpassed at such a fraction of the price. I can be quite picky with meat and I had zero complaints. Everything was prepared perfectly, beautifully, and enjoyed with a view only understood in the flesh. Must try for the adventurous soul.More

This place is amazing. The guy who runs it is so helpful and kind, food is delicious and I love the fact it is within a local neighbourhood. Great value for money too. We walked directly from Copacabana and found it fine. It’s in a...very safe favela, many of the locals gave us directions without us even having to stop to ask!More

Arriving around noon in Rio by my rental car I had a rough start since it was raining almost constantly. Didn’t feel like leaving the hotel but started to check TripAdvisor out. A gem only 300mtrs from my hotel? That seemed to good to be...true and it was. Estrelas da Babilonia is in the perfectly safe Favela Leme. Hesitated for a while but upon reading the reviews I had to see for myself. Uber dropped me off at the recommended spot and I started walking. I needed to ask my way every 50 meters but everyone was very helpful, in the end a young boy even guided me! The steps are not that hard, do not let it discourage you! The restaurant itself has the ultimate South American vibe and a view across Rio to die for. Enough choices on the menu and I particularly loved the empanadas (veggie available!). The caipirinha was also very good. Apart from the food the service was really friendly and helpful. On the way down it just mention the same address where the Uber drops you off and everyone will show you the way again. There is one additional advice I would give: just walk down the whole way and pick the Uber or Taxi near the beach road. No sweat, reallyMore

We have been there for dinner and it was wonderful. The homemade food is really delicious and they even have their own craft beer there. Besides that you have a great view over the lighten up Copacabana. Don’t worry about that the restaurant is in...a favela. The area is really safe. The streets are lighten up and there is also police presence. By foot from the beach it takes about 20min up to the restaurant. But the way is absolut worth it!!! The staff is also very nice there!More

Went there for dinner, the worse ripoff of 2 weeks in Brazil. I was really excited by reading the reviews, I had to convince my Brazilian friend to go there. She did not want to go to the Babilonia Favela at night. I had to...apologize for my choice after dinner 1) 2 beers and a platter of simple fried veggies: 35 euros 2) dinner is not served in the terrace shown in the picture but in a house from where you have no view on Rio while seated 3) food was nothing amazing, average 4) feel quite unsafe while walking in the small alleys of the favela at night It might have been a cool hidden gem once, but now is only a small tourist trap.More
