Cute little restaurant with a nice view! There is a river running right next to it, that makes it very scenic. Good authentic food and good service. Would recommend!

We went here for lunch and ordered tempura with rice. The food was a bit cold. It felt like it was sitting in the kitchen for too long. The tempura did not taste fresh and it was very soggy. Overall very very average if not...poor quality food. Won’t go back.More

Had a fantastic lunch at this little restaurant by the water. Food was delicious and the location amazing. I had the curry udon (it’s beef), which was fantastic. Really quality beef. We had to wait for a table, but could buy a beer and sit...outside until our name was called.More

We stumbled across Kameyama-Ya after wandering past the bamboo forest and heading down to the river. It was extremely hot, and we were starting to get hungry. We took a shot here and were so happy with the food, service and ambience. This venue is...very relaxing. It looks to be family run also. The service was friendly and efficient. The prices were very reasonable. We had Curry Udon and Tempura vegetable and both were fantastic. We sat and watched the boats float by and the birds have a swim. It was such a great little spot. Some of the tables were traditional style but that made it more enjoyable. They are also licensed if you feel like an Asahi.More

We came when the restaurant was closing. They were extremely friendly and let us in provided we only select from the noodle menu. What a wonderful experience we had! The food was brilliant and sitting by the river to the sound of flowing water and...birds flying over was unforgettable. Highly recommended!More

After visiting the bamboo Grove , we walked through Arashiyama park , down to the Katsura river water front promenade . There , we saw this little lovely cafe/restaurant. Calm inviting atmosphere , while the river flows right in front of your eyes . We...only had a quick "beer and something" break . We wish we had more time to enjoy a full lunch in this lovely place .More

We went to this restaurant intentionally as I read somewhere about it before. It was slightly raining, the atmosphere by the river was gorgeous. I felt like it was a proper Japanese style restaurant, the staff didn´t speak much English but it absolutely didn´t matter...as they were very very nice. We had great food as well - cold soba noodles and tempura. Beautiful memories we have!More

As me and my friends made our way to the bamboo forest we walk along the main road to the forest and I remember looking at a few menus posted outside restaurants and thinking to myself 'what a rip-off', a normal 1000yen bento box was...selling for 2000yen. Good thing we decided to keep walking and walking and walking. After we finished walking down the bamboo path a made a right and walked to the entrance of a shrine but we decided to walk the other direction because we were so 'shrined-out'. It ended up being of the best decisions on our trip. We first walked left and up the mountain were we found an awesome look out point where we took some of the most picturesque photos of our whole Japan trip, the backdrop was a river surrounded by a lush forest and a train track running by the river banks. After taking some photos we walked down the hill and right until we reached the river banks. To the right we looked and saw a nondescript little Japanese looking house, me being an explorer decided to walk to the house and my friends walked away down the river banks. As I got closer I realized it was a restaurant, for a minute I thought of walking away thinking 'it's just another tourist trap', but to my delight I took a look at the menu and they had a bunch of 1000yen lunch boxes. I turned around and yelled to my friends to come back, they all returned and we decided to give this place a try. We were a group of 7 so they seated us in a traditional Japanese table were we sat cross legged in front of these low-rise tables that faced the river, the setting was something out of a movie. Here we sat by the river bank in Kyoto sharing a traditional Japanese meal. I order the pickled fish lunch box which had so many side dishes I was so full I could barely finish it and the bonus was it came with an amazing Oden that wasn't even pictured on the menu. It ended up being one of our best meals in Japan and I will forever remember it. PS: there's also regular tables if you don't wanna sit cross legged.More

I got an oden set meal that had generous portions of ingredients. Oden is a unique Japanese dish and is worth a try. The restaurant is very casual and offers good views of the Katsura river and forest area across it. My friends also loved...their gyudon and tempura meals.More

I was surprised that this place is not yet reviewed. Perhaps by the fact that it is not in sight and a bit hard to get here. I found it quite accidentally, due to the fact that I chose a custom tour route. The place...is owned by older people who seem to put the dishes all his heart. The food is delicate and delicious. On the menu at all there is only a few dishes, but it is a delight for the palate. I would recommend tempura, haven't eaten anywhere better.More

We headed out to Arashiyama and discovered this semi-outdoor restaurant close to the shore of the Hozu-gawa. We had a short wait but well worth it to enjoy noodles and beer. Very casual and perfect for a light lunch.
