We dined here during our 2 night stay at Walvis Bay. We drove to the restaurant which located on the Jetty near the Marina, there is a small Car-Park adjacent to the restaurant. We hadn’t booked but we’re quickly accommodated at a window table. We...were quickly attended to and drinks order taken. I am a strict Vegetarian and usually just make do when dining out at unfamiliar restaurants, my wife does however eat fish. There was nothing obviously vegetarian on the menu. I mentioned this to the staff, who couldn’t have been more helpful and informed me that they would 'Cook something special' for me. Our meal duly arrived, a lovely serving of Fish & Chips and an absolutely delicious Vegetable Curry for me. Our whole experience here was a delight, from the quaint interior to the amazingly helpful staff, they even asked if I would like some more Rice or Curry, I declined. First class, great food, brilliant staff. Highly Recommended.More
Came to this place with my business partner – recommended by him – and to be very honest… I did not have a good feeling when I arrived. This is on the waterfront… which should be a plus… but to be very honest… it is...not a fancy restaurant… nor is it modern… and the parking area is quite scary. In fact, the place itself… is really starting to feel overtaken by time… and in desperate need of a revamp URGENTLY.
The décor is very basic, with those wooden tables that have been there forever. Paint job on the walls and ornaments need to be looked at, since this restaurant seems to be stuck in the past century.
I will admit, though, that the view from the table next to the window is very pleasant and tranquil.
Having said the above… that disappointed me, I will move on to the most important thing in any restaurant… THE FOOD… and WOW, this was a pleasant surprise. The starters were out of this world, and the calamari (main) that I had (grilled, by the way) were tender, tasty and a pleasure to eat. This, together with a nice bottle of wine to share, hit the spot perfectly.
As to the service… I would say that it is basic and average… no whistles and bells, but pleasant enough.
Yes, the price is on the higher side, but as I do admit the food quality is amazing… I will say that it is value for money.
So, summing up… GOOD food, in basic decor, and an expensive (but fair) pricing range, met with basic and average service… it deserves no more than 4 star rating in my books. Could do MUCH better, if management decides to upgrade the place, with better and warmer décor. That is my two cents.More
Back again to Anchors @ the Jetty....
Once again a couple of superb meals with superb service in superb surroundings.
Hands down the best calamris for me anywhere!
I will keep coming back to this restaurant as long as it exists.
I love you guys!
Another very atmospheric restaurant ("Mad Max" style) down on the Waterfront. I had Kingclip which was delicious.Glorious views out over the small harbour. Pelicans and other sea birds perch on jetty and seals often pop in for a visit.
What an amazing dinner with great service.
Not only was all the food fantastic, our children thoroughly enjoyed playing near the water and having a Pelican come say hello.
The staff were very helpful and gave great advice on local tours.
Situated right at the ocean, with a great view of the sea & the new port.
The service is not that bad, but the food is good though ( even though the pork ribs I ordered looks quite plain, they did however taste great).
