Even a lot of Norwegians have been there / heard about "Probst Café. :) Well, we have been here just for a short visit of the city and harbour, staying for holidays in Swakopmund - and suddenly I saw the "Café" and remembered. When ordering...your cakes you will understand that this place getting old. Nothing wrong with the cakes, delicious - but you will see that the cold buffet and interieur are getting old/ are out of date! ( after many years of very good service). Happy to have been here! - good luck for the future. (It's some years ago now)More

Since a young age, my family members would talk about Probst. We would get delicacies in SA and whenever we traveled to Namibia, you had to stop at this old classic. the landscape and vibe are still the same and the food gets better with...time.More

This is mostly a day cafe, in the centre of town. Known for good coffee and cake, the best they have on offer is the wide variety of brötchens. Toppings from schnitzel with a chilli sauce, chicken liver peri-peri, cheese omlette - you name it,...they bring it. I have not even seen such a variety of brötchen toppings in any restaurant in Germany. Very very delicious - must do when in Walvis Bay.More

My family & I really enjoyed the wonderful cheese cakes. The bakery décor is really vintage, with wood panelling, old photos of Walvis Bay & photos of whales on the walls. The staff is friendly and patient, they know it's difficult to decide on which...baked treat to choose, as there is a huge variety! Will definitely visit again.More

Nice brôtchen and hearty lunches. Typically German fare. The small pastries are very nice. But most of the big cakes are not baked on site and are mass produced somewhere else. But overall a nice place.

Service is slow, but the wait is so worth it. Staff is friendly and it is a German family run business.

Nice little corner cafe in town with delicious food and is popular with some of the locals. So I would give it three stars at least. But seriously this place is in need of a good clean up and a revamp! The owners surely has...no idea of interior decorating. I personally like the German Namibian continental atmosphere but if I was the owner I would give the entire space from floor to ceiling a facelift. The tiles, furniture and general style is so dated. Looks like it hasn't changed much since the 1950's. Start off with enlarging the sitting space a bit. Put in new tiles, new furniture, a splash new colour for the walls would also do. The lovely old photos could be arranged in a better way. I'm also into interior decorating so its just a thought. No big deal. Cheers!More

The best breakfast and most authentic German food we've had with our one week stay in Walvis Bay. The Rohhack Broetchen was to die for and on my week there I could have eaten this everyday. LOVE LOVE LOVE Coffee was not that good but...the food absolutely, 100% made up for this. Staff was all very friendly with the waiters being attentive. Just an old favourite with every visit to Walvis.More

Our seven-person tour group had lunch here, and everybody was happy. The menu is quite extensive, and it was hard to choose from so many interesting options. I finally chose the stroganoff, which was made from gemsbok (oryx) rather than beef. The meat was slightly...tough but otherwise the dish was very tasty. Service was prompt, and the servers were very friendly and helpful. In all, a very satisfactory lunch. The baked goods in the bakery section in front looked beautiful; wish we had time to sample some.More

Best place for an any time meal with friendly staff always willing to help. They have a fresh selection of baked goods savory or sweet and an extensive menu. They have the most delicious cappuccinos with cream.

Step back into time and you won't be disappointed! We went there for lunch. Staff are super friendly and as soon as you enter you are greeted by their cakes and bakes which look amazing. We had brotchens and chicken schnitzel which where greatly priced,...generous in size and tasted wonderful. We also managed to squeeze in some cake.....i would recommend the bar one chocolate cake. Will return again!More
