We were well received at our arrival by friendly staff. We had a nice quite room with all the necessary features. The only disappointment was the choice of tv channels in the room. Excellent breakfast with great variety and friendly staff. Good WiFi and selective...parking are available.More

I know the Hansa Hotel since my early childhood and it was always known for extraordinary excellent food and staff who went the extra mile. Unfortunately lately I find that it has lost it's glamour. The interior needs an urgent update, The table setting is...retro in not a good way and the food was unfortunately average. We also had a quite unfriendly waitress.. I really would love this place to gain back it's old glamour, It needs to move with the time and update itself to equal exquisite Hotels in Europe or South Africa. It would be wonderful as it has such a rich history.More

Perhaps we could have inferred from the mere weight of the leather-bound menu, that the food would be heavy; perhaps crushingly. And so it was. We're both carnivores and not red meat-adverse in the least. Nor do we dislike salt. But the food - pretty...much all of it - tasted gamey (to be fair, it WAS game), and of salt. Not "oops, spilled the shaker in your meal" salty, just too much for an accident, and overpowering anything that might have been flavourful in a sauce. Rule number two in culinary school was "taste your food" (rule #1 was if you drop your knife don't try to catch it). These folks forgot. The dishes were plated attentively, as if the Cooks were trained by someone who once cared. But the French onion soup had obviously been made with commercial beef stock, featured tender onions, but not enough, a smallish slice of bread, and sufficient cheese to be recognized as such. But French onion soup is a celebration of culinary excess: thick, deeply caramelized onions and hearty broth, a touch of wine, and covered with cheese, A celebration of the Malliard effect. No. The mains (oryx saltimbocca, and springbok) were served with potatoes "Dauphine". Interpretations of this dish vary, many or casserole-like and cheesy. Others have a deep-fry step. These were more like "Tater Tots" in the shape of brioche... yet not as crispy. At least they weren't salty. My wife's veg was green beans (at least they didn't market them as "haricot vert"), overcooked and about the colour of the tents we'd been staying in (and the camp food was better). Mine was red cabbage slaw. Short on acid, long on salt. We don't mind simple food at simple prices. We love fine-dining food and the associated costs. Unfortunately this meal ticked neither box.More

As soon as you step into the Hansa Hotel you feel you have travelled back in time. Everything is polished and spotlessly clean and the brass sparkles. The majestic staircase in the foyer leading to your rooms just adds to the ambience. No lift here....But the bell man dressed in dark green uniform waiting to help you with you bags just adds to a by gone era. The rooms are big with high ceilings. They too are spotlessly clean and fresh smelling. We saw that all the rooms whether used or not are aired daily and sanitized accordingly. The breakfast buffet is beautifully presented with an abundance of choice. Fresh rolls and fruit everyday. Yes the hotel may seem a bit dated but because the general manager Mr Kustner who by the way is constantly present without being intrusive runs a tight ship allowing you to truly enjoy your stay. There is nothing they will not assist you with. Finally a special mention to the staff Andre and Carlos in the restaurant, reception staff and housekeeper Olga. All of whom were always professional, friendly and courteous Just wish other hotels of which we have been too many could learn something from this lovely hotel. If your worried that it’s not on the sea don’t be it’s a pleasant 5 minute walk and so often its misty and musty it’s nicer to be in town close to restaurants and infamous coffee shops.More

We visited twice in a week, once for lunch and one dinner. Both times the food was absolutely excellent. The furnishings are a bit old style, with the ambience a blast from the past - but tastes differ. The service was excellent both times, the...restaurant was however not too busy. So if you are in for a gourmet meal in an upmarket setting, this is the place to go to. Pricing is on the expensive side, but worth it. Have a colonnial coffee after your meal - this is a speciality of the house.More

The setting is a classic from past, but I have yet to have better food anywhere. We always make the Hansa hotel restaurant our first dinner night out, when in Swakopmund. We cannot miss out on the food, just amazing

It shows as 4 star hotel, but outdated room with noise coung from nest rooms. Small room with small bathroom. Wifi was spotty constantly. Breakfast was average like other continental breakfast out there. Staff were attentive. Overall, we were very disappointed.

We had one of our best meals in Namibia when we had dinner at this hotel, where we stayed as well. The service was impeccable. The cooked breakfasts were also very good.

Really great and varied menu, beautifully cooked food and attentive, but not pushy, staff. Also, I absolutely love a restaurant that gives you extras - in this case two extra courses with the compliments of the chef - a sorbet and, actually my favourite dish...of the day, a small tomato salad with breaded and fried feta - delicious! It was also great to have my zabaglione made in front of us - who doesn’t like a bit of dinner theatre!More

The food is good and the service special, everything from the complimentary appetiser to the sorbet between courses makes you feel indulged!! The bar is very cozy for a pre-dinner drink, if they have some coaches in they are very busy but we went on...a Thursday and it was very quiet, which was a shame because a few more people would have made the atmosphere better.More
