Pub atmosphere with friendly service and ok food, but this is probably the most expensive restaurant in Namibia and the prices do not match the standard. If you pay in the high 200s for a Schnitzel and in the 300s for a steak or a normal fish, it is simply 100 more than at any other similar or even better place. Prices are probably made for tourist, not for locals.

We came here with our tour group, there were 12 of us and we were seated upstairs. The restaurant was busy but we weren’t in a particular hurry. Waiting staff were reasonably attentive the main problem was that for half of us when our food came out it was barely warm. One of our group ordered a medium to well done steak and it was clearly medium rare. As we were a larger group we all felt reluctant to spoil the ambiance to complain I have to say my fish and prawns were over cooked my chips were cold and if I had been In a smaller group I would have sent it back. We had a much better meal the following day at the fish deli

Good food but unbearably hot in there (even in winter)

I’m glad to say that, after a bit of a rocky start (we were seated with menus right away but it took quite a long time to be asked for our drinks order) things got steadily better. At least we knew what food we wanted by the time our waiter returned but then the beers were short measures (a bit of bug bear with me, I’m afraid). From the waiter’s reaction, I don’t think anyone had had the temerity to point this out before, nevertheless he did bring another glass of beer to top them up. Thereafter, the food was delivered promptly and the second beers were full measures (he told us he’d checked before serving them and I’m glad he made a joke of it). The food was actually good. We shared a fried mushroom starter then I had the firecracker stir fry with chicken (nice and spicy) and my wife had the fish soup and a blue cheese salad. Finally, by the time we left we were very hot. I asked the waiter and he confirmed that it was stifling, so it’s to be hoped the a/c works better in their summer. We would have chosen to sit outside but there were smokers on the tables there so it would have been impossible to eat there and enjoy it.

Cool location with good food

We stayed several times in Kücki's Pub during our stay in Swakopmund. You'll find delicious food and good beer at reasonable prices. There is a large menu, including burgers, steaks, fish and pasta. The staff is very friendly. The pub is always busy, both the area at the counter and the area for dining. Because of this, it is better to reserve for food. We felt very comfortable here.

A very disappointing vegetarian meal. I ordered a Thai Green vegetable curry. It arrived ad the rest of the party were finishing their meal and consisted of a dish of boiled vegetables with an over-spiced sauce poured over the top, accompanied by boiled rice.

Delicious fish!

Being so close to the coast, we went in search of fish. We chose this pub also thanks to the advice of the owner of the guesthouse who was hosting us. I'm very happy to have followed the advice, we tried two vegetable soups as starters, very good and invigorating (temperatures drop a lot in those parts in the evening); my partner chose a meat dish, which was very good, while I treated myself to a wonderful grilled hake with mashed potatoes. Super satisfied, in addition to the fact that the service was fast and courteous, recommended!

Disappointing and not great food

We were really looking forward ot this meal and enjoying a great steak from Namibia. My steak was okay (just okay). My sons egg was cooked wrong (no big deal) but his fillet (which came in to halves?) was medium as requested for one half and blood are for the other. Also too stingy to eat in places. The manager seemed a little inept at sorting this out and we left rather underwhelmed and disappointed. Sadly not a place we would return to.

Lovely atmosphere, really enjoyed the menu and choices were made including steak and fish. Two courses plus wine worked out at around £22 per person - excellent value. Our server was excellent, especially as she seemed to be working the room on her own!

Very disappointing

This was really a big disappointment. The starter, breaded camembert, was so overly ripe and extremely pungent in taste. We love ripe cheese but this one we a bit over, for our taste. It came with a super oily piece of bread. One main, the cordon blue, was partially uncooked. Parts of the pork meat were completely raw. We did not eat it obviously and just sent it back. The waiter and manager were extremely sorry and we didn't have to pay for it and were even offered free dessert. We really appreciate the way they handled it. It's still a huge no-go and quite gross so serve uncooked meat. The second main, schnitzel and spätzle and mushroom sauce, was also disappointing. The schnitzel was okay, but the spätzle were quite dry and we didn't like the sauce at all. We left super disappointed and the dishes that we had are far beyond average if compared to German originals.

Good meat restaurant. There is a great variety of choice between different types of local meat.. in general the portions are quite large. Meat cooked well. The location is simple but tidy very similar to a German pub. Cost a little higher than the Namibian average. Overall, not bad.

Just exited an horrendous experience here. Prawn cocktail consisted of prawn shaped things as dry as old boots. Oysters that were ‘fresh today’ but dry and when I politely asked for the heavy metal music to be changed was given the finger by the waiter. Not a great way to draw the customers. Interesting to not that as a joke in better times, the waiter wears a t-shirt saying ‘hot beer, bad food and worse service’. I don’t know know about the first one, but the last two aren’t a joke anymore…

Wonderful Pub

Kucki's is a great pub with a lovely atmosphere. Sit at the bar & you will soon meet new friends. On the food side I sampled Deep Fried Oysters, followed by Chilli Chicken Livers; both dishes were delightful. Lots to recommend!

Very good pub style restaurant serving a full menu of different styles of food including German and international in a Namibian style. I had stuffed jalapeño peppers to start which were enormous but very spicy and I enjoyed them. Filled me up a bit too much though so I would suggest that 2-3 peppers of this size would be plenty as a starter. My husband enjoyed his mussel pot which was lovely but difficult to eat as they were left on a half shell. Would have been better to have left shells on or completely away maybe? My husband had ribs and wings which he enjoyed. Very spicy though! I had the fish and chips which were very good. Batter was crisp and fish was delicious. Served with tartare sauce. All excellent. The portion Size was very generous, and I couldn't finish it all. However very good dinner washed down with a few pints of Draft beer. Very good indeed.

We tried this restaurant on all the reviews read but it did not meet with any of the expectations that were written from others. We were very disappointed with the food esp. the signature dishes we ordered. Med Rare Oryx steak was overcooked and sent back, and then received the next one rare, literally seared. Signature Garlic Steak is 400gm however ours was half of this and literally two frozen garlic butters placed on the top of it. Needless to say I did not eat and we left. This pub might have had some atmosphere some time ago however there was not even music playing and very mediocre.
