Had read some reviews online saying that although Tian Tian is a few stalls down and has all the queues, Ah Tai is equally as good, if not better. Was not disappointed! Went for lunch and there was no queue. The Hainanese chicken rice is...More

Others have said that the Maxwell Center is a 10 minute walk from the Chinatown MRT Station but it took me 15 minutes. I almost wish I had taken a taxi. My visit was in a Monday, so Tian Tian was closed but that was...More

Had this dish from Ah Tai to compare against Tian Tian. Chicken was moist, rice was rich and the chilli sauce was spicy.

I know to many, this stall is run by former staff of Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice, just 3 shops away. The food taste is all the SAME minus the advertisements and media attention. Highly recommended to eat here rather than joining the long queue.

My family is Hainanese and my mother's been making this dish for years with her family recipe. Each time we visit Singapore, she concedes this is indeed the best, most fragrant chicken rice -- this after we've tried at least a half dozen top rated...More

Tried lots of food in different hawker centres during our week in Singapore. Ah Tai Chicken Rice was our absolute favourite. It was simply delicious - with the best rice ever.

We came back for some food at Tiantian but they were closed. A few doors down was this place. Apparently the guy that owns this used to be the chef at Tiantian. This place was much better value for money than tiantian, Either that or...More

Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful
sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling
sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its
blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an
Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit
almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony
continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to
the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill.
