I booked a dinner for two at TRB Hutong to celebrate my 8-year “Chinaversary” with my significant other. We drove a scooter to this hidden gem where we were greeted by a TRB staff member who was kind enough to direct us where to park....Already I was impressed by the service. Walking into the restaurant, the minimalist decor is inviting with many touches of artistic accents. We were greeted professionally, yet warmly. Throughout our meal, in which we spent three hours enjoying, we felt doted upon. Each staff member not only paid close attention to our needs, they also paid attention to when we finished each dish and promptly removed our empty plates. They were highly attentive without ever being intrusive. Best of all, they each showed some individual personality, making for a much more pleasant dining experience. They were professional, but they were also fun and friendly. We chose the 6-course Seasonal Taste menu. Each course was delicate and flavorful. Being French cuisine, presentation is of utmost importance and TRB pulled the dishes off with elegance. Also a characteristic of French cuisine, the portions were small but more than substantial when all pulled together to create the complete meal. The staff prepared a special treat for dessert in celebration of my Chinaversary, which was a lovely touch. There is also an extensive wine selection, which they are happy to help you pair with the dishes. As usual we have celebrated our friend’s birthday with brunch(4 hours). TRB original entrees and new dishes by their new chef, Australian but has been in Tokyo before. Not only splendid atmosphere and food but also impeccable service as usual!! Why not 5/5? I wish...only their restroom can be also at the level of the rest..More

TRB remains a benchmark for fine dining in the city because its service is absolutely on the mark. When going to a fine dining restaurant, I want staff to set a tone that is a balance between professionalism, knowledge and creating a very relaxed atmosphere....The end result is service that is down to earth, engaging, allowing Chef JFK's dishes to speak louder than anything else. COVID-19 has really hurt restaurants and seen high staff turnover, but TRB Hutong seems to have done really well by replacing departing staff with some excellent newcomers, well-lead by restaurant manager Kyle and in-house sommelier Andrea. With regards to our dishes, we were here to try the White Asparagus Seasonal Menu and were not disappointed. From a series of excellent dishes, the stand out dishes for me were the Barramundi, Duo of Lamb and King Crab. Highly recommended. However, TRB Hutong is more than individual parts. I knew the TRB standard was high but this visit took it to another level. The staff, food and setting are amazing. Definitely the best lunch I have had in Beijing, perhaps Asia and maybe in the world. I look forward to my next visit.
