Nothing, nothing can compete with Sarova's Thorn Tree Deluxe! Every pizza fest I have to ensure that I treat myself to this signature pizza! It never disappoints and the customer service is 5 star since they treat every customer like royalty. Our hostess for the evening and the manager were very hands-on and friendly, they would occasionally ask if everything was okay. Don't hesitate to go to Sarova Stanley, the prices are quite pocket-friendly... Too bad I couldn't pay using mVisa because the KCB app was down :( the pizza served as comfort food though

I was brought up in Nairobi and the New Stanley/Thorn Tree used to be regularly visited. So back in Nairobi we thought we would revisit for afternoon tea. It was a shame to see it “closed in “ but I understand why this was done for security reasons. We chose the special tea and cake offer but unfortunately I forgot to tell them we did not want it the “Kenyan way” ie tea and milk in the pot together. The cakes were rather disappointing.

While staying at Sarova Stanley, I had breakfast each morning at Thorn Tree Cafe. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere is nice, but the exceptional service by the staff, especially Elisabeth, is what made my meals so enjoyable. I look forward to returning!

Horrible! The Stanley is not the way it was a few years ago. The lady waiters and the other lady wearing a red coat (may be their supervisor) will ignore you if you are ladies unaccompanied by a male. They did not want to check on us until a very awesome male approached us and served us throughout. He kept international Standards and he checked on us frequently. First impression is very important and the ladies failed you terribly. We the Kenyans keep the hospitality business running even in difficult times. We are the same people who bring in corporate business so, educate your waiters on customer care.

In the old days, the hunters and settlers would come to the Thorn Tree and get their messages, which were stuck on thorns. They were a roudy bunch and drank hard, with food on the side. Today, the service and quality of food is exceptional, as well as the ambiance. The thorns are gone, but the tree remains growing through the roof. They do have a bulletin board that you can leave messages on.

Enjoyed tea at the Thorn Tree with Daudi later Lawrence. Waiting for early morning arrival. Bespectacled woman asks me to leave. Then follows me outside for my mosquito repellent insinuating I stole!

I had visited this café in '70s during my business trips to Nairobi. Recently, I had read a wonderful article about Nairobi and also this café, in the newspaper in Dubai. This place has lots of history and hence is definitely worth a visit. There is still a Thorn Tree in the middle of the place although it's not the original one. The café was frequented by travellers over the years and was a popular meeting place. Its a bit quieter now, partially because of the Covid travel restriction. However, there's good food and friendly service.

Just lovely. I took my family to experience the first post-stop and tourist message board in Kenya. A must-do tourist tradition. My lamb chop and apple pie were excellent. The cafe was light and beautiful and we took a tour of the Stanley Hotel. Lots of history and memories.

Exception service by Beatrice. She made sure our meals were just like we wanted. She went above and beyond to meet our dietary restrictions.

Had a wonderful time. Was looked after fantastically by Eunice who helped me with everything I needed… and most importantly kept me topped up with Tusker! A very nice environment for some drinks and snacks.

This is a legendary Cafe and has been around for years. There is so much history attached. I had been here in 1975 the first time so it was very nostalgic.

On 14th April we had the pleasure of having Swahili breakfast at Thorn Tree Cafe and I must say, it was an absolute delight! The kebabs are to die for. They Should however consider cooking the Mahamri at a corner and not placing the hot cooking oil in between chaffing dishes. It is a disaster in waiting & unfortunately the smell of the cooking oil will stick to your clothes

Their food is delicious and wait until you try their pastries! This restaurant was around during the British Colonial era.

45 minutes for 2 pineapple mint juices and 1 mocktail. For a place such as the New Stanley Hotel I honestly expected more.
