Very good option for grilled meat. The boeuf steak was well done and tender. Good options of drinks. Nice environment, the outside area is good. Altough it was heavy rain we we confortable outside. Employees are kind.
Highly recommended! Fantastic meat dishes with a very friendly service! Happy hour 1+1 free drink. Private parking area available. Credit card machine may have connection issue so please take cash with you just in case.
Since the Gekko's has closed a few months ago, there are only two restaurants in Kinshasa that serve sushi: The Paradise and The Carvao restaurants (at least, that's what I thought...)
Craving for sushi, I went to the Carvao with a friend. I asked the...waiter what kind of sushi they had. He replied they didn't make sushi anymore. You can imagine how disappointed I was because I had chosen this restaurant only for that reason. I later learned that the main chef, the one who could prepare the sushi, left for another restaurant -the Limoncello.
I asked a coquille Saint-Jacques, but they didn't have it either. How disappointing! In the end, I chose chicken with a mushroom sauce and croquettes. It was good and only $15. For dessert, I had a Dame blanche, good as well but overpriced for the amount of ice cream (only one scoop): $12.
My friend chose beef and was happy with it. When we were eating, we saw that mussels and fries were served at another table. I knew one person at that table and, on the following day, I inquired about the mussels.
She said they were excellent and she would recommend this dish, a Belgian speciality, to everyone. It isn't cheap: $40 per person, with fries and a drink included. But at least we know that it can be found there and that it is of a good quality. My first experience at the Carvao restaurant wasn't amazing, but I will go back - I will go back for their mussels.More
The menu of this restaurant is amazing! Always perfectly cooked and the red wine and shallots sauce is incredibly tasty! I went there many times when I was living in Kinshasa and I don't think that I have ever been disappointed! Only down side are...the prices: if it were less expensive, I would have eaten there everyday!More
Carvao is super good! It has so many choices on their menu. The best items are the grilled stuff. They also do sushis which are really good. There are not many sushi places in Kinshasa so this is a great place to go if you're...craving some. The staff is very friendly and well trained. I definitely recommend this restaurant.More
Had lunch here twice. The place is nice, a half open space tastefully done. The main menu does not give you prices for most items but that is because they are very high. The small treats like burgers are more affordable (still above 15USD) and...of good quality. The main dishes overall are of good quality but prices are just far too high. Service is also not in line with prices charged, sometimes good and sometimes not so.More
Had the 100% sirloin burger the first time I was here. One of the best burgers I have ever had anywhere. The beef is usually gamey and very tough here in Kinshasa. This chef also runs the butcher shop attached to the property and the...man is a genius with meats. I had the steak the second time, and let me say, it was wonderful. Not a Waygu, or Kobe, or even a black Angus, but the chef gets exceptional taste from the cuts he is using which aren't of the highest quality, but definitely by far the best in this area. Hands down. Pork chop was also excellent, this place is a must if you are a foodie.More
I've been to this restaurant often and have never been served anything that has been less than excellent. Last night I had a brochettes with potatoes and it was like heaven. I look forward to being back.
Folks I'm a very picky eater. VERY. I have been in the DRC for 5 days and have eaten twice - both times plain rice. At the expressive insistence of friends I ate here. Now, I'm a Caucasian British girl who doesn't even salt water...to boil potatoes so you can understand my trepidation at eating in Africa. Food is often slathered in sauce of some sort & they eat highly exotic foods.
Cavao was amazing! I had the chicken burger - grilled chicken chopped & placed on a bun with melted cheese. Divine, divine, divine. Let me recommend everyone go here. Well decorated location with both traditional & al fresco dining options. Well appointed interior - gorgeous lighting. Beyond that the staff were fantastic. Attentive, thoughtful, charming.More
