There aren’t that many places in Kinshasa that can offer ambiance, quality and character while ensuring impeccable hygiene and sanitation, and enforcing Covid precautions. Entering the Caprice makes one step into another dimension so detached from the reality of living in a Covid world. Here...one can enjoy and savor time with family and friends over meticulously prepared food that is more food art than anything else. Seating arrangements are very well spaced so there is no overcrowding and staff immediately clean up after customers to keep the next clientele safe and secure. Although it has an excellent ala carte menu, its real pull are the meals wonderfully planned around themed buffets every day of the week. They also have their champagne weekends and an amazing DJ who does not disappoint. Caprice is indeed one place to visit and dine in - especially for urbanites.More

Caprice is a decent buffet restaurant attached to Hotel Arjaan within Kin Plaza at the junction of Ave de la Justice, Ave de l'Ouganda, and Petit Point in the Gombe district of Kinshasa. Given the paucity of decent eateries in the city and the ridiculously...high prices, the buffet at Caprice is a very welcome relief. There is no real signage for Caprice so its location just has to be known in advance. It is on the top floor of Kin Plaza, accessible via the escalator and then immediately obvious. Kin Plaza is far from spectacular but by Kinshasa standards is an ok little mall though the entry via the Arjaan reception area is the more refined route. The restaurant looks pretty good. It has a classy atmosphere which is good for entertaining as the cleanliness of the colour scheme falls the right side of the sombre/classy line. Seating is comfortable and as the restaurant is really large and not overly patronised there is loads of space. The outside area is a good spot for those who can cope with the climate other than when directly in the sunlight which can be a bit oppressive. The terrace is really attractive even though the view into this part of Gombe has nothing to speak of it other than to watch the construction growing up opposite. Still, there is a sense of being able to see into Gombe life from this vantage point. Service is friendly and personable. A server recognised this patron outside the restaurant several hours after a visit and showed warmth. Another at the buffet had a really good chat about the restaurant, patronage, and options available. It was a really pleasant experience not often matched in DRC. The chef was amenable to a thumbs-up while he ate his own lunch. The only downside to the service is it is far from attentive or explanatory but that's likely still a step too far in this city. Drinks offerings include various soft drinks, the quality local beer, and various spirits which come extremely well-presented. There is an pretty decent drinks menu. Food menu was not offered as it was assumed a buffet would be taken. In truth that is definitely the best option of a lunchtime. The buffet was impressive. While there are better buffets in the world, Kinshasa does not have a large number of them so to find one in this city is just terrific. The buffet includes starter options though and plenty of main courses. There is enough for a vegetarian to eat including a quiche, a delicious fried potato described as a hash brown, pasta, a non-spicy mushroom curry, and some others. The food was tasty. Not spectacular. Tasty. That's great given the availability of the buffet and the option to try all sorts of things. The dessert however, was fantastic. It is largely chocolate based but the temptation to try all the different little options delivered the reward it promised. Superb desserts. Price is not cheap because nothing in Kinshasa really is. However, by the standards of this market the cost is not exhorbitant given the offerings. As an entertaining space, Caprice works fantastically well. It is quiet enough of a lunchtime to have easy conversation. The space looks good and has just about enough prestige. The drinks are presented well. The food is good with a range of options and the desserts are delicious.More

Absolutely amazing experience. It was hard to restrain oneself from the variety and quality options. The executive chef (Nerendra) was always very visible and approachable - his Biryani was exceptional.

This restaurant has a big terrace. During the day, it's in the blazing sun, but at night it is cool and it offers a relatively good view on the nearby area (Socimat). It is the ideal place in Kinshasa for a chicha outdoor. On Friday,...Saturday or Sunday night, you will have to wait for a table if you don't book or if you arrive around 20:00. There are about twenty tables. A chicha costs 15 USD and you can choose among three different flavors (mint, apple and a third one I have forgotten). Chichas are definitely bad for your lungs, but once in a while, with good friends of yours, to smoke a chicha in such a place can help you unwind after a long day at work.More

When you travel as much as I do on business (more than 60 countries) you tend to look for a comfortable place to have business partners for meetings and to relax. The food and atmosphere is what I would expect in NY or Dubai where...we are based out of. So it is very comfortable and up to par. The real shining star is the service here in the restaurant. The staff is just amazing, especially the manager Abdo. Abdo makes us look and feel like VIP guests when we are here. All of our business partners have been very impressed with the service and the atmosphere. Somedays we eat here for lunch and dinner, even though we are staying just down the street at Kempinski. The service is just that good. Also our favorite waiter Etienne is amazing! He knows what we want before even we do, this is truly the place to be in Kinshasa.More

From the terrasse, the view is astounding. It's a very good spot to have lunch or dinner. There are many waiters. It seems that some are only there to welcome guests. Others will show them where to sit. And a third group will take orders....I don't have anything to say about the first two groups of waiters. They were polite. I was just surprised everyone was so specialized. When I asked the waitress who showed us our seats for a couple of Cokes, she said that she couldn't help us, she didn't take orders. We had to wait several minutes to finally meet a waiter that could get us something to drink. I also ordered fish and chips. My friend loves penne. She ordered penne with tomato sauce. The waiter said it wasn't possible. The tomato sauce was only available with spaghetti. I showed him another dish on the menu with penne. "That proves this restaurant serves penne," I said, "just ask the chef to cook penne with tomato sauce." From his attitude, I understood he didn't know that "penne" was a kind of pasta. I googled "penne" and showed him an image on my phone. "That's penne," I said, "just tell the cook and he will know what to do." Twenty minutes later, the man came back to us. What do you think he brought? Fish and chips on one hand, spaghetti with tomato sauce on the other hand. "What about the penne?" My friend asked. He looked as dumb as if he hadn't understood anything of what I had told him. We ate, but my friend was disappointed and said she wouldn't come back... It's a pity! I would like to ask the management to make sure the waiters know the menu. In the 21st century, is it serious for a waiter who works in a restaurant that sells Italian food to ignore the word "penne"?More
