This was a very pleasant surprise. we were hosted after a long trip into Congo and had shared many experiences during the trip. The trip to Le Caf Conc was a great post trip experience and in contrast to some of the hardships on the...trip. This is a place to take your time and enjoy good company.More
Once you walk through the front door, you are transported into a classic french bistro, with a fantastic atmosphere and personal service. The cigar lounge for a pre-dinner drink and cigar is a nice touch on comfortable couches where you order your meal. The menu...is amazing, too much choice and was very well cooked. The wine list is extensive with classic Bordeaux wines on offer. Service was excellent and attentive whilst not intrusive and the owner is there to ensure everything is ok.
I would recommend this restaurant and can honestly say this is as good as any top French restaurant anywhere in the world, including France.More
If you are a regular guest you are at home in a classy, relaxed atmosphere. If you are a new comer you are made to feel as though you were a regular guest.
The BOSS, Noel, will surely come and greet you with a smile...once you are seated in the launge. He knows just about everybody in town and makes you believe that you were one of the top one.
The best cuisine in town with the price tag that comes with it.More
The highest of the high-end French restaurants in town, Caf Conc is a Kinshasa institution. You’ll be greeted at the entrance by a tuxedo-clad doorsman and shown to the cigar room for drinks and amuse-bouches before being seated. If in mixed company, the women likely...will be handed a “blind” menu--sans prix--and it’s probably just as well: This is the place to go if you’re looking to blow your per diem. Best thing about the place is the owner, an Algerian named Noel who meant to breeze through Kinshasa on his way to Australia back in 1970--and who stayed ever since. He’s seen it all, from the Ali-Foreman fight to the fall of Kinshasa to rebel troops, and is an engaging raconteurMore
So there is this rather stylish place serving a few classics of French cuisine in Kinshasa. It's not experimental, ist not new, it does not pretend to be anything it is not. Straight in your face honest old style cooking at its best. Lobster ravioli,...veal fillet and a dessert made s perfect meal. Rather highly priced, but acceptable for what they serve.More
Le Caf Conc is an experience. While it offers traditional french cuisine as a friend of mine says that has not evolved with the more modern touch, it does that with a gusto.
U start with an aperitif at their cigar bar while u check...out the menu, which is quite typical for a french restaurants. Loved their grilled foie gras and Every single item on the main course menu that i have tried.
If u r living in Kinshasa, u should try it for sure., but be ready to spend a small fortune.More
